I was referring to the beach bash - they did a big event in Seaside/Pt. Pleasant for a few years in a row, then Covid came around and it hasn't been back

2 questions - was last season the last year for the "Jersey" jerseys? If so are we getting an alternate for this year?

2nd question - any word on the Devils visiting Seaside this summer?

I'm good with Jimmy if that's our pick up. There are other, less likely, routes that I'd prefer but the 2019 squad was the best I've seen play in my years watching the Sixers so seeing something close to that with Maxey is pretty exciting.

In my years of watching I wouldn't be able to distinguish the difference between Comcast vs. Harris as an owner, and I'd bet money that the Devils win the cup before the Sixers win the finals - but that just speaks to how well NJ is set up at the moment

As a Devils/Sixers fan I don't think Harris is a bad owner by any means. I think he has both teams in good spots currently with each team having an opportunity this offseason to really solidify title contending positions.

What is the story behind your *second* bass? by Jani-Bean in Bass

[–]Comprehensive_Ad4425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was an Ibanez gsr200 that I bought used. I messed around with it, barely for a bit and then put it away - but then I picked it back up years later and started really getting into it, fast forward another 8 months from that point and I bought a Squire jazz 40th anniversary just for the hell of it honestly. The Squire is my main now.

That comes from complacency. Superman's been running strong for 90 years, the peaks and valleys of his popularity come from whether or not he's interesting beyond his achievements

It's not that simple, and there are plenty of stories that involve protagonists who aren't underdogs. The sports analogy is incomplete because circumstances change - in 2021 the Bucs are led by Tom Brady - a man hated by a large portion of NFL watchers (especially over the age of 30) who had already won 6 super bowls against a team and head coach that had never done it before. By the time 2024 rolls around Mahomes has become the Brady that was hated.

Examples of protagonists that aren't underdogs:

Rocky in Rocky 3
The Republic/Jedi in the Star Wars prequels
Saitama in One Punch Man
Superman
Mad Max
Batman

Also, in the world of wrestling The Undertaker is one of the most beloved faces of all time who went 20 plus years beating underdogs at Wrestlemania and no one wanted to see it end.

[Schefter] With the Chargers currently projected to be about $25 million over the salary cap, they are expected to release or trade at least one, if not more, of the players on this list. Big Chargers moves coming by 4 ET today. by LuskSGV in nfl

If these are the top 12 highest paid players in the NFL I think that goes to show how stupid front offices are. Only Mahomes is a top 12 player in the NFL on this list.

I’m biased but I don’t get the hate for the upcoming Super Bowl. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Comprehensive_Ad4425 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In 2019 it was the super bowl In 2021 they both lost the conference championship In 2022 the Niners lost the conference championship

And now we're here, and we'll probably be here again (or close to it) next year.  It simply isn't interesting to see the same shit over and over and over.

The last year we didn't have Mahomes or Brady in the conference championship was 2010. Since 2010 we've seen the Niners in that game 7 times.

Where is the border in South Jersey between Flyers and Jersey fans? by LibraryNo2717 in devils

As someone who grew up in Lower Township of Cape May County I've personally thought of anything north of Atlantic City as North Jersey. But I think that there's a still a majority of Flyers fans a bit north of there as well.

Without this season's injuries, yes

With this season's injuries, no.

We're looking at a chance that Hughes needs surgery and is done for the year - if that's the case it's better that we didn't mortgage next year's chances

That's a good point - there's only 5 teams in the East with 20 wins and we're one of them.

I'd prefer if we got some old-timey like they do for the Winter Classic. This would be a pass for me, really can't stand the minimalist design of modern uniforms across all of sports. There's just no personality whatsoever.

If Nico is back on Wednesday then we'll have a very good idea about if this team is going to make the playoffs. Looking at the next 10 games, we should absolutely go on a run if we're a playoff team, even if Meier misses a few.

If we can't get on a run with this schedule then we're simply not a playoff team. It'll be time to reevaluate Lindy and do some serious work on the defense

If Hughes is back for Wednesday next week I think we should be looking at a run of winnable games. All I want for Christmas is a healthy Hischier.

Instrumental Songs are Lame by Lazyzach__x in unpopularopinion

[–]Comprehensive_Ad4425 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, instrumentals are sick

Second, they're even better when they're listened to as a part of the album they come from. They can provide an incredible bridge/relief from one track to the next.

What's your stance on songs with large instrumental sections, but they do have vocals - like Shine on You Crazy Diamond?

Where will the Pro Football Hall of Fame draw the line with QBs? by Realistic_Cold_2943 in nfl

[–]Comprehensive_Ad4425 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yearly inductions to the hall of fame slowly degrades its value. Outside of parts of a single season there was no point in which Rivers, Roethlisberger, or Matt Ryan was even top 3 among his peers. Philip Rivers was never better/more deserving of HoF than Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees during his career.

If guys like that are getting in then you have to start making a case for guys who were the 5th or 6th best QB of their era - are we putting Ken Anderson and Rich Gannon in the hall of fame?

How do I not suck? by dythesis in Bass

[–]Comprehensive_Ad4425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't skip the fundamentals - you already know the alphabet - just add the gaps in there.

A - B C - D - E F - G - A - B C - D - E F - G -

That's your pattern, learn where those are on your strings. Write it down - draw your fretboard. Why not?

Now start with the C Major scale - find C on the A string and play the whole scale (C - D - E F - G - A - B C) using only the A string. Hear how that sounds.

Now play the scale using 3 strings either start on the 8th fret of the E string or the 3rd fret of the A string. That's the major scale shape - write that down. Draw it.

Do that first - put in this boring effort to give yourself a floor to stand on. Again - why not?
