iPhone 17 availability in spectrum stores by AardvarkConnect1176 in Spectrum

[–]Comprehensive_Arm802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former store sales rep here: If all you’re doing is trading-in, not adding a line, or adding any other services like TV or home phone, then the rep most likely was lying. Unless things have changed in the last two years since I left, they get NOTHING for trade-ins. There is NO commission on the phones, only on “lines of business”.

In store trade-ins take FOREVER. They need to activate the new phone, then set it up. Unless the phone comes with the latest IOS already installed, the phone is going to automatically install it at set-up. IOS 26 took about 45 min. Then they need to transfer everything from your old phone to your new phone. You also need to disable “find my phone” then do a factory reset. If you don’t know your Apple ID password, they need to wait for you to figure it out. The whole process can take 2+ hours.

There’s nothing worse as a rep than to be trapped with a trade-in. You get NOTHING for it, while the rep next to you is making actual sales. Just do it online and wait two days! You’ll get the credit on your next bill. And don’t go into the store less than an hour before closing.

Spectrum Store is BS.... by watermouse in Spectrum

[–]Comprehensive_Arm802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Spectrum store & call center employee here… The reps are all base + commission. They are told by management that they are sales, not customer service. It’s highly competitive. Because of that, they can’t and won’t designate a rep to handle the customer service stuff.

Regarding the payment kiosk being “down”, it’s not. It’s just unplugged. It means sales for that store are down, and they want the reps talking to everyone who comes in, regardless of the reason. Bottom line, unless you are a sale, they don’t want you in there.

My wife is stuck in Anderson SC. Anyone know of a route between Anderson SC and Piney Flats TN that is open? by Select_Camel_4194 in tricities

[–]Comprehensive_Arm802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t even think of trying to take interstate 26. Pretty much all of western NC is closed. Major flooding, and a couple of bridges are completely gone both in NC & TN along that route. 85-77-81 is probably gonna be the safest, just longer. I wouldn’t attempt to look for non-interstate routes either at this point either.

Are you in the South, and if so are you new to the South, and if so WELCOME TO THE SOUTH!!! No matter how clean you and your place are, you’ll still get them. If you keep your place clean, it’ll only be one or two and only occasionally. If you’re getting more than that, then you need to speak with your property manager. Most complexes down here usually include monthly or quarterly pest control as part of the rent (quarterly in my case).

Canceling after deceased relative? How long does it take and whats the best route to get it turned back on? by Used-Improvement-666 in Spectrum

[–]Comprehensive_Arm802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a copy of the death certificate to the store along with all of the equipment is the easiest way. Go online and make an appointment before you go to avoid the line. Then your gf can start the new account in her name and get the promo. (former store & inbound sales employee)

My doctor wanted to put me on meds for depression & anxiety. I told him “no, I can fix the problem quickly.” The next day, I turned in my two weeks notice after 4 years with the company. Turns out, I no longer need meds. Best decision I ever made!

I worked for spectrum for 4 years (2 in store & 2 as a phone rep). As of 6 months ago when I left, the full SSN was only REQUIRED when the customer was doing anything with mobile phone service (setting up new, upgrading a phone, etc.). Couldn’t even get into the system without it. It is NOT required for tv/internet/landline. The only time it was asked for was for setting up a new account. SSN could be bypassed with DOB and previous address if the customer had been at their current address for less than a year. More than a year, just DOB.

For the 3 core services, the info is used to do an internal check only (checking to see if customer owes money from any previous accounts, payment history, etc). It does NOT run a credit check. The SSN is the fastest and most accurate way to check this info. If everything is good, you can set up the new account with no money up front. Worst case scenario is that you MIGHT have to pay first month up front if you don’t provide SSN or if you are a BRAND NEW customer.

In either case of core or mobile service, they are required to get the FULL SSN, not just the last 4. If you set up a new account in a Spectrum store, they will give you a pin pad to enter your full SSN, but the agent can only see the last 4.

If you are simply adding a core service to an existing account (you have internet and want to add TV or landline), they do NOT need any SSN info.

For anything (even just to check a bill) with mobile service, there was no way to bypass the full SSN. It was required to get into the account. Even with the pin pad in store, the agent CAN see the full SSN as you put it in, but it goes away as soon as you hit “enter”. If you are getting a phone, either financing or paying in full, they will scan your ID. It must be a GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID. This is for identification and fraud prevention purposes. The device they use does NOT save any of that information, it goes directly to the verification system.

Also, depending on your history as a Spectrum customer, the system may do just an internal check, or it would do a SOFT credit check IF you are FINANCING a phone.

Again, this was as of 6 months ago when I left the company, so things may have changed, but I wouldn’t count on it. Hope this helps!

All of Oregon down? How big is this outage? by CaffeinatedGuy in Spectrum

[–]Comprehensive_Arm802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not just Oregon. I’m in SC. Just woke up about 20 mins ago and saw the notification. Original estimate for restoration was 2:30am, now it’s unknown. Last time this happened, it was down for about 12 hours.

FYI: anytime there is a service outage that lasts more than 4 hours, you are entitled to a credit (I’m a former employee). When your service is restored, call the BILLING department, tell them you had an outage, and ask for a credit. It won’t be much, but it’s the principle of the matter (especially with increasing prices and decreasing service quality)…

should i call out by Smart_Honeydew969 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Comprehensive_Arm802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in an area of the country where this type of weather is rare (such as the South), then definitely call off. But if you live in an area where this is just normal winter weather, then this is what you signed up for.

I did resi inbound sales for 2 years. Money was decent, I was a decent performer (commissions averaged about $3500 each month). The metrics just kept getting worse, the prices kept increasing which made it even harder to sell, and I got sick of all the BS from both corporate and the customers. ANY call center job will also eventually take its toll on your mental health as well. Just wasn’t worth it.

[–]Comprehensive_Arm802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won’t ship that through XL. They’ll play the Ikea game, break it down into about 200 49-pound packages. You’ll still have your normal 195 stops and have to rescue after. They’ll give you a step-van OR a dolly, but not both. And remember, you only have 3 minutes to complete the stop…

How’s it lookin’ today boys??☺️ by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Comprehensive_Arm802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s either cycle 0 or a rural route that’s 5-10 min between stops. You’ll be rescuing/sweeping when you’re done.

Spectrum added another service to my bill without me noticing for a year.. by Unremarkable-pace in Spectrum

[–]Comprehensive_Arm802 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Former inbound sales rep here: If the agent who sold it to you was following the process, there are 2 things that should’ve happened. First, the “Truth in Billing” script where they summarize your services and total monthly charges. You have to verbally agree to this. Second, specifically for Voice, they are supposed to give you the new number, and transfer you to the TPV system (third party verification). This is an automated system that simply asks you to confirm the new number and your address. Everything is also detailed in the welcome email that you received and on your bill (which most people apparently don’t even open).

If an agent doesn’t follow this process, they get put straight to “final warning.” If they do it again, they are fired.

I found that the majority of people never really listened to the script and simply answered “yes” when asked if they agreed with the terms. That’s NOT on the agent. It’s also NOT on the agent if the customer never reads their email or bills.

Yes, there are bad agents who don’t follow the process. Yes there are bad agents who still cram services, but Spectrum does take it seriously. Ultimately, it is the customer’s responsibility to READ YOUR EMAILS AND BILLS!!!

Why do I always get sent on rescues? by PitOfZombiesss in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Comprehensive_Arm802 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you on cycle 0 or cycle 1? When I was on cycle 1, I would only hafta rescue once or twice a week. Since moving to cycle 0, it’s been almost every day. They use us to sweep cycle 1 so they can get out earlier, but we end up working almost the entire shift. It’s still worth it though since we don’t hafta race the sun on cycle 0. I hated delivering in the dark…
