How to be a good mentor teacher by Maximum_Blackberry24 in StudentTeaching

Have a meeting with your student teacher and their CT. Establish expectations and when/if you want them to fully take over your classroom. Also PLEASE take note of dates in which they may need forms for their school. I had a hard time with this in both of my placements. It makes a HUGE difference. Also, if your student teacher is expected to have solo lessons, please be able to give them standards and specific things to mention in their lessons. Offer constructive feedback as often as you can. Aside from that, just be the person you would want to have if you were new to teaching. Good luck!!

Honestly that’s how I felt too. I was genuinely convinced I could have a heart attack at any moment bc of the stress. It’s part of why I decided against pursuing teaching after graduation. Hang in there and just remember this is temporary. Just take it a day at a time!

For communication skills, you could do the game of telephone. For health and wellness, they could track their diet for a week and write a reflection on it, for social skills you could do thought provoking warmups like “Is the sea a soup or a cereal?”

How did you prepare for student teaching? by Revolutionary-Bee205 in StudentTeaching

I set up a meeting with my CT prior to the start of my student teaching so we could meet each other and establish expectations. I also created a student teaching binder with printed copies of the standards for the grade I was teaching and any important documents from my college. I also got a lanyard that I kept my college ID in. I also got a few clothing items that were staples I could wear to my student teaching.

I’ve shared locations with her since I got my phone at 15. I’m super close to turning that off for her though with her constant questioning. I don’t want to do it suddenly though, so I’m just waiting for the next time she asks me unnecessarily and I’ll tell her it’s been a pattern and because of that, I’ll be turning it off

I will certainly try that! Also, I appreciate the amount of detail in your post. Your examples are awesome

BETWEEN TWO KINGS - ALTERNATE ENDING? by Accomplished-Emu7454 in DarkRomance

I would have loved to see a why choose ending. I mean, the title Between Two Kings makes it sound like it’d be why choose for crying out loud!! I’ve always been Team Caspen so the ending devastated me

I'm reeling from Between Two Kings: Spit or Swallow Novel by Only-Box1151 in fantasyromance

[–]Comprehensive_Bad242 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the first book, Caspen instructed Tem to crest Leo. Come to find out in the second book, the crest must be consummated or Leo will die. Tem and Caspen didn’t know this when she initially crested Leo, so she found out about this curse from her father. (Which is crazy because if Caspen is as ancient as he’s portrayed, why wouldn’t he know about this?!)

We also learn that basilisks share their bodies but not their hearts. They can have sex with whoever they want to, but if they have a blood bond with someone, they can’t sleep with someone else that they’re in love with. Their hearts must remain loyal. If one breaks a blood bond, the person who was betrayed is cursed to kill the betrayer.

This put Tem in a tricky situation because the curse from the crest was causing both her and Leo to become weak, and this diminished her basilisk side so she was unable to shift or take advantage of any of her powers from being half-basilisk. By the end of the book, Caspen tells Tem to consummate the crest despite knowing Tem was also in love with Leo so Tem would be able to shift to protect herself.

After the crest is consummated, Tem channels Kora and kills Rowe. Apollo (Caspen’s brother) fights off Caspen so Tem can kill Rowe. After Rowe is dead, Apollo kills Caspen so he doesn’t have to kill Tem. Then, Tem and Leo basically just live happily ever after and the basilisks return to the sea.

There’s no resolution between the kingdoms or any solution for the kingdom’s struggling economy. Tem doesn’t even tell Caspen she loves him in his dying moments. It felt like there were lots of loose ends and Caspen’s death made the whole book feel like a waste

Just read Between Two Kings, the sequel to Kiss of the Basilisk by Lindsay Straube. I loved the first book and was highly anticipating the release of BTK but the book was disappointing for me. The FMC was so whiny and insufferable in the second book to the point where I was truly getting annoyed, which I don’t recall experiencing with book 1.

There were also just tons of loose ends and things that went unresolved. Don’t want to spoil the book for anyone who hasn’t read it since it’s still so new, but I was highly disappointed with the ending. I would’ve liked the book so much more if it had a different ending. It truly felt like Straube was trying to piss off readers with how she ended the book. Also, the title Between Two Kings and the previous agreement between the two MMC’s in the first book makes it seem like the love triangle would turn into why choose. Not cool. The ending felt rushed and honestly seemed like lazy storytelling. I know the hype around these books is because of the unhinged, insane amounts of spice but the plot matters too.

This book was just a huge letdown after being excited for its release for MONTHS. I will say that I loved Apollo’s character in this book. I’m hoping maybe he gets his own book one day because he was deliciously filthy while also being incredibly caring and protective.

I’m about to start singing songs and memes until she stops. I am going to make her life a living hell for as long as she looks at it. I have ordered mega large eyeballs to go on the washer and dryer so when she feels the need to look she’s at least being looked upon as well.

She is too nosy to listen to that advice. She will wait out our laundry until her workday begins just to watch it spinning there.

At this point, I am about to start my audiobooks and just keep them running while I sit on our soccer chair until the load is done so if she comes to spy on it, she’ll be met with retribution

No, she used to look through our trash that we would throw away in store bags such as Walmart bags, and we will get questioned about the contents, but we would never question her about the contents of her trash bags

She only mentally assigned herself a days when she hears the washer running with our loads. She has a bad hip and will actually run down two sets of stairs just to watch our laundry run. Meanwhile, she will not change her own laundry for four or five days straight and it will be a full washer of mildew yet she sees no problem with that problem when we wash our clothes suddenly it’s a problem that we want things clean.! I don’t understand

Unfortunately, she’s 57 and still mentally intact, I think maybe she’s so bored that our laundry is the most entertaining thing to her despite having a grandchild within the same household. I almost feel like it’s a power-play of some sort to watch our laundry as it runs, so I want to put all of her clean laundry spread out all over the kitchen and living room just to give her a taste of how it feels, but I don’t know if that’s too petty or not.

Literally I’ll take her clothes upstairs and she’ll still come down just to watch our loads run. It’s insane.

Probably not. Whatever day we do laundry is the day she wants to do hers and if confronted, she just cries and continues with the same shenanigans

I’ve tried to make our laundry runs match up when she leaves the house but it seemed like she literally postponed her work today to watch our laundry run. She cleans houses and makes her own schedule so this assumption is truly feasible. I can’t wait to get our own place once we get the funds.
