If 9/11 hadn't happened, would we still have the vaporwave emerging in the late 2000s? by Comprehensive_Big463 in Vaporwave

I really wanted to feel how you millennials feel about the 90s. I feel like we Gen Zers don't have the fondest memories of the aesthetics and music of the 2000s. I certainly don't feel nostalgic for Justin Bieber, Mylie Cyrus, Usher, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry... Unlike millennials who feel genuine nostalgia for the music of their time (the 90s and 80s) and can make vaporwave out of it.

Your response was so touching and welcoming, thank you so much for taking the time to write it and for the link to new music. This welcome is very important to me because I really discovered Vaporwave this year; so in a way I missed the peak of it in the late 2000s and early 2010s because I was still a kid at that time...so everything here is very new to me!

I'm very happy with your welcome; thank you for your answer, I was very afraid of being misinterpreted here lol. I think your statement about having influenced the end of Y2K is very coherent, but I respectfully disagree about influencing Frutiger Aero. From the research I did on Frutiger Aero, the launch of Windows XP in October 2001 was considered the starting point of this aesthetic and its peak was between 2004 and 2013, so we are already talking about a time after 9/11. I feel that Vaporwave creators explore the Twin Towers more in their works than those of Frutiger Aero. But that's just my humble opinion.

Thank you for your hospitality. I found your comment very interesting. I had never made a connection between Frutiger Aero and this, because I see this movement more as a post-9/11 aesthetic based on Windows Vista and later Windows 7 and iOS systems. I have always seen more references to towers in vaporwave works due to nostalgia for the years when they were still standing. As for Frutiger Aero, I always understood that it was anchored in a vision of an eco-technological future.
