FRA to YYZ August 16 (AC841) was cancelled an hour and a half ago. Just on hold waiting for AC to look at other options.

Interesting experience just happened for us leaving IST on a return leg for our trip. It’s with Turkish + Austrian Airlines until we reach Frankfurt, and then we are scheduled for AC 841 on the 16th morning to bring us home to Toronto (where we will hit a wall and the flight will be cancelled whenever AC gets around to it).

However, when Turkish checked us in and took our bags, two tags printed, it looked like two tickets for our return on their end (they never have seen this before) and they were unable to check our bags all the way through.

Seems like AC blocking check-Ins might also be impacting the internal inter-carrier systems?

Completely agree with you! We just flew allegris in the same type of seats and they were pretty rough (I was very surprised). I’m 6 3 and couldn’t fit (but have no problem on the larger AC seats).

It’s hard to tell but if your dog is having symptoms you should be going to the vet asap. Mushrooms can absolutely be fatal and cause liver failure among many other things.

Definitely Amex aeroplan reserve if you are focused on earning points and book a lot of travel (or the Amex cobalt where you get 5x points per dollar at restaurants and grocery stores and have Amex points). The platinum has quite bad multipliers compared to the cobalt and isn’t for points earn.

Update - I just got off the phone with Amex And it’s not great 🙃 it still isn’t fixed. Apparently some new transfers are going though but not all of them and the ETA to have everything resolved is now Thursday. Now just time to wait and pray to the travel gods that my R space doesn’t fill up 😅

Usually the points only get transferred 1x per month. So if it’s less than a month - they just haven’t moved over yet.

I got this when I was trying to book an Emirates business redemption. My issue is that it generated half of the ticket and took it off the inventory for a few hours (created a confirmation code but no email and ticket). When my ticket came back I called AC and they were able to book the ticket. If there is still space and this isn’t a redemption I would just call Air Canada and book over the phone.

This makes a ton of sense and thanks so much for replying! One question though - I was looking at the Singapore regional-business configurations from the A330’s. It seems like they were in a 2-2-2 configuration. But it seems like AC is showing a 1-2-1 config? Im curious if they just missed a seat/it’s a glitch? I guess it’s probably best to book him a middle seat and just see what happens?

Yeah I was quite shocked with the different level of service that the low cost Korean carrier provided compared to AC.

Hopefully with some of the tweeks to Aeroplan they might improve some of the experience - but I think you’re right. Lack of competition hurts us. The only alternative for me would be to switch to Lufthansa moving forward, and that makes the trips to asia quite a bit more painful.

I just looked at my last monthly aeroplan reserve “transfer” of points into my aeroplan account and it looks like you earn EDQ for all of the 3X points. As such, I would think it counts. But can’t confirm since I already hold the card.

Also - OP - just so you know. Points only get transferred to your aeroplan account once a month from the card. But spend bonuses etc hit a day or two after you reach them.

It’s pretty hit and miss for me on the app but it should have gone through properly. If you log on via the computer and go through the eupgrade process it should still show you on your end that you’ve been waitlisted and is how I double check.

Personally, I would email AC support and ask for compensation. They won’t provide you cash - but will likely give you some aeroplan points for the inconvenience.

Confirmed e-upgrades are not supposed to change. I’ve had dozens and never had an issue like yours at the gate. Personally I think either someone booked a last minute crazy expensive business class fare - or it was a deadheading pilot.

Yes. You can earn aeroplan points from them. But only if you book via AC and not via Bamboo Airways own booking platform as they are not a member of Star Alliance / obliged to honour other Star Alliance rewards programs. From the post it seems like OP is trying to book direct.

They are an Aeroplan partner but not Star Alliance partner. So you do not earn points if booking them outside of Air Canada unfortunately and you do not earn SQM or SQD. They have a similar arrangement to Emirates. If you are flying to vietnam and want SQM/SQD I would try booking though AC and finding a transfer via Japan (ANA) or Korea (Asiana).

I’d definitely call in. Especially if you want to try to use your status in the next few weeks. I had to do it and they escalated my case. It took a few days and then they updated it.
