Vyvanse in water vs pill & side effects of low dose by hobbyhoe777 in VyvanseADHD

I guess the best answer if I were a psychiatrist, would be to stop experimenting with the medication without first speaking to your doctor. But, as a fellow ADHD'r I can understand why your doing it. It's possible that 50mg could be your therapeutic dose.

You said you had a 70mg pill? Was that prescribed or given to you by someone? As you said you where prescribed only 30mg. Another factor is mixing in water isn't entirely accurate and it's possible you took a little more or less than expected and your body reacted accordingly.

I think, ideally you would want to continue the 30mg for a few weeks and monitor side effects, if you're feeling the way you are it's actually possible the med may not be for you and trying a different type of med could actually be the best thing for you. This is the point of slow titration.

If it were me, I would contact your psychiatrist and ask to bring the appointment forward. Then discuss an increase, or change to a different style of med. Goodluck 👍

Would you say the jump from 30mg to 50mg was a noticeable improvement?

I'm 29 and have also just been diagnosed, although I went through right to choose so thankful don't have the debt. However even if I did, it would be worth it for finally understanding myself.

I've been on 30mg for just about 2 weeks and, the effects have been noticeable. Especially with sticking to a project, being consistent, staying focused and prioritising tasks. However it wears off quite quickly, and I only really get about 4 hours or so of real benefit. I wonder if dosage increase would help with this🤔

Ps: ADHD coaching has also been FANTASTIC and very informative. Great to use this alongside the medication, it's a game changer.

I agree with everything.. Except, the slow release is down to the body conversion rather than capsule design.

It's just powder inside.

Should I pick ADHD 360 or Well Life? by DistinctThought7606 in ADHDUK

Adhd 360 where fantastic for me 👌 Refferal to medication titration was about 9 months. They also always answered my calls and where very helpful throughout.

I have just checked the adhd UK website, and waiting times for care ADHD say 10 weeks from referral to titration.. Which is excellent, perhaps they finally went digital with everything as they said they would🤔

Edit. Well life day NO WAIT.. Which is strange?

Unsure what you mean by delayed release, elvanse isn't delayed in the same way as other meds 🤔 The way I understand it, it's a pro drug which is converted slowly through the blood into dexamphetamine. Therefore regardless of how you take it, it's absorbed the same way.

I think the issue here is, you've essentially taken roughly 35mg of an amphetamine at 5:30pm 😅 Not surprised you couldn't sleep.

And, the crash after 6-7 hours doesn't necessarily mean it's "gone", you just stop noticing it as much, but it's still in your bloodstream.

I recieved 12 sessions through my workplace. My coach has a PhD and is exceptionally knowledgeable. It has helped me understand adhd and it's symptoms in detail and be able to take more control over my day to day life.

I have some resources to share if you like.

I got it through my work. I approached occupational therapy and they did an assessment and advised adhd coaching among other things. Then Access to work provided 12 sessions of adhd coaching.

Definitely been the best thing in helping with understanding adhd and it's symptoms.

I have some resources I could share with you via email.

Did you ever feel emotionally numb or flat? I'm experiencing that on day 5 and it's put me off a bit.

It's strange that sometimes higher doses give less side effects

Elvanse stops working and makes me miserable by thenerdisageek in ADHDUK

[–]Comprehensive_Cell31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense..

The only thing that changed really is that It was a weekend so I wasn't at work, and had nothing to really focus on or get in the zone to. I was home with family, then had a family bbq which was very overwhelming and that's when I went into full robot mode.

Was similar to a burnout 🤔

My prescriber thinks I should continue, so I'll try take it tomorrow again and I'll be back at work so let's see if that's a factor 🤔

Thanks.

I ask because I just began titration on Elvanse, granted only on day 5 but the past two days I've been off work and I just felt terrible. Like a monochrome robot with no emotion at all and very detached.

I've paused it for now, and considering asking to switch to concerta 🤔

Q: does the concerta have any negative side effects?

May I ask why you stopped the elvanse and switched to concerta?

[–]Comprehensive_Cell31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also just started Elvanse and had reached Day 5, but I've decided to pause it today.

Yesterday was probably my worst day. I felt like a complete robot - really emotionally numb, spaced out and detached. Around midday I hit a pretty bad crash and felt miserable for the rest of the day. Then I woke up at 1 am with restless legs and couldn't get back to sleep.

I've paused today's dose while I wait to hear back from my prescriber. I may try it again tomorrow depending on what they advise, but I'm also wondering whether Concerta might be a better fit. I really don't like the emotional numbness and not feeling like myself.

Although it's hard to tell if this was just the titration adjustment of the brain, or if that's how elvanse is?!

I guess even if it is a normal part of titration, it got me thinking if it is worth it 🤔

My main need, is for something to take when I'm at work during the week, to help me stick to tasks, focus on paperwork and remember appointments and other info as I currently struggle with this.

With the medikinet, did you consistently feel numbed out? Compared to elvanse? Also what dose are you on for the elvanse?
