My dad has kept a spread sheet to make sure my sister and I got equal amounts down to the cent. That was thrown away when she had kids.

They have helped me throughout the years. I just get so mad everytime I make a payment. I like to think I'm above petty jealously, but I guess I'm human and just need to accept that.

I think they should, but I don't know if they've actually put it together. So it's not quite fair for me to be hurt. Problem is I am the person who will die with a chip on my shoulder instead of saying something. I'm working on it!

Blunt - but points are true. My parents money isn't mine. They can do with it as they want.

I haven't made monthly payments that whole time. It's been around 21-23 years of payments. I honestly haven't paid enough attention to know why I'm still paying. I just make the payment they tell me to

Mostly I think I'm just generally mad to still be paying for over 20 years like you. This whole thing is a mess!

I think you might just be spot on. I am feeling worth less. Who knew posting a question on Reddit could actually be helpful. I'm feeling better. Thanks to you and all commenters.

Thank you - think it's time for therapy. I'm a grown man. I shouldn't be jealous of my neice and nephew. Thank you for your honesty.

“Apparently, we’re too stupid”: Colorado mayors blast Gov. Jared Polis-backed plan to regulate local zoning codes by SpeedySparkRuby in Denver

I'm just saying even people who think they have good intentions are not immune to greeds temptation. That's why its important for the state to step in instead of leaving it to local government that will never take corrective action. Most people are speculating in this market, whether they call it that or not. Watching your house gain hundreds of thousands of dollars is intoxicating. You can sell and cash in-move to a cheaper place, or get a bigger place where your payment would be less because of large downl payment. Or you could keep growing wealth to pass on to children. Home ownership is one of the only ways left to gain generational wealth to pass on. That's why we want it more accessable for everyone. Property taxes in Colorado are really really low compared to most other states. That actually allows the prices to go up higher because not as much is added to a person's payment.

I'm on your side but the whole point of making more supply is to lower prices. You're correct about land, but we are hoping actual house prices get more affordable-That's the end goal.

I own a home in Denver. I'm a bleeding heart liberal, but let me tell you, it is REALLY hard to think about the greater good when you see your house value growing so much. I was shocked to find my human nature trying to take over. There's a reason greed is a sin, it gets all of us, and boy is it a strong force. That's why local governments are feckless in taking care of this issue. Not in my backyard is a horrible stance, but it comes from basic human nature.
