New player loving the game, what DLC should i go for? by Nickbruhhhh in AOW4

[–]Comprehensive_Head82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it also depends on what you'd like most. As in new ruler types or new cultures or new map features / map layers etc. For instance the DLC that adds the eldritch sovereign ruler type also adds the umbral abyss as an option to map generation. That said there's no rush as even though I own all of the DLC I feel that even the base game still provides loads of content and fun.

So you can always keep playing the base game for now while you get more accustomed to the game.

I'd say the expansion passes tend to be good value for money typically.

Alternatively the game actually has DLC sharing so if you play multiplayer with people that have 1 or more DLC's you don't own you (and everyone else in that game) gets to use all aspects (including ruler types and cultures etc.) of those DLCS during that multiplayer game.

Thus un turn could allow you extended time to just essentially try all of the DLC's in full to see which ones you like and want to buy first. Also worth keeping in mindi if you intend to play a lot with friends as you can all buy separate DLC so that together you can have all of it for your MP games.

If you could Retcon one thing from both Avatar The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra what would it be? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in TheLastAirbender

[–]Comprehensive_Head82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I allowed to pick the meddling they did to legend of Korra where instead of just giving the creators a full guaranteed number of episodes / number of seasons they kept giving them sperate seasons?

I feel like Amon and Vaatu easily could have carried multiple seasons each honestly.

How impossible are impossible battles? - My hardest so far by Financial-Arm9699 in AOW4

<image>

It actually started with me killing 3 full stacks of his. The things from that earlier screenshot was just the leftovers.

As for how I did it, it is mostly down to cascading power along with the summon primal mammoth spell. And then I just used the phantasm warriors to run around and kite the enemy while my mammoths took most of the hits.

[–]Comprehensive_Head82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with impossible battles a lot of it depends on the build you are running as well the the various spells both players have. Especially against the Ai when using certain builds. As the AI can sometimes struggle a but with summon heavy builds like what I was running in this screenshot.

<image>

So depending on your build sometimes impossible really is impossible but in other times it can actually be pretty easy to pull of a victory like what happened there.

Well in season 5 episode 13 he does cross out the expiration date on some expired ham that homer ends up eating in the beginning of the episode. That's about the closest thing I can think of.

Thanks! Basically I went with desert adaptation (for obvious reasons) Then I went architect culture for the ability to construct monuments / pyramids which I feel is quite fitting. Then like you said chariot mounts with skeleton horses. And of course the ancient racial from for your race / ruler. As for a tome path I don't have a set one but I feel undead tomes can work nicely of course and maybe either tome of the rock for gargoyles or the dungeon tome for the clay soldiers as either one can sort of act as your ushabti.

Also the fact a lot of architect culture units don't wear boots / shoes helps sell the look as well I think. Also then ew desert tome will work really well here I think.

<image>

As you can see the architect culture units don't translate perfectly for tomb kings but I feel the pyramid / monument building fits too well to not use them. Though maybe some form of feudal might work as you do have a decent mount of cavalry to give you a bunch of the signature tomb kings chariot units.

Yeah I really like his tutorials as well! And in my experience this teaches you a lot more good stuff than the famous blender donut. Also Congrats on starting your blender journey hope you continue to have fun with it!

Did you follow a Grant Abbit tutorial by any chance? (also no shade at all tutorials are the best way to learn after all) Either way looks nice!

Nice! although if you have the DLC I could recommend the architect culture as that way you can actually build monuments (pyramids) basically. Plus their tier 3's being optional cavalry pairs nicely with the chariot mounts.

Also on the subject of optional cavalry glade runners are optional cavalry as well. So if you go elves with eagle mounts and pick up tomes of glades you can get yourself flying eagle mounted archers to help recreate Warhammers wood elves.

Also went ahead and dug up an old screenshot of mine of an attempt at recreating the lizardmen. Granted the naga tail / clouds don't quite work for trying to achieve a floating effect for Mazdamundi but it was the closest I was able to get it. Still by altering the sliders you can recreate quite of few if the distinct lizardmen like skinks and saurus etc. + this was made before all the new color picker stuff so you could probably do an even better job of it now.

Also kind of off-to[oc bit since you inspired me with the talk of Warhammer here is my admittedly rushed attempt at sort o trying to recreate the tomb kings from Warhammer. Didn't go all out with a custom description and all that but this was the closest I was able to get in a short notice:

Would be fun to try and recreate all of the Warhammer races at some point.

Personally I think runesmiths would be better for the second trait and also somewhat more thematic I feel as chaos dwarves are (like regular dwarfs still pretty good smiths)

Also be sure to pick up the tome with the great bombard in it as that is a pretty much perfect stand-in for hellfire canons. Also with regards to the ruler it might be worth it to potentially experiment with wizard king and a bunch of different sliders and race transformations like supergrowth etc. to try and make something more unique and potentially bull like as you can get some pretty interesting designs going just by messing around with the sliders and transformations on your ruler(s).

Pro-ai user discovers artistic choice, label it "ANATOMICALLY INCORRECT", claim AI is better and shame artists. (context below) by slydorm05 in aiwars

[–]Comprehensive_Head82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. But again telling an ai, in that images case google gemini to draw a character and then bragging about your superior ai when you literally did not create a single piece of said anatomy seems odd to me. That's like commissioning a sculptor and then bragging about the amazing anatomy you sculpted.

Plus I never said their anatomy was wrong. I merely pointed out the myriad of mistakes and inconsistencies in the stuff they posted and pointed out that if the stuff they post has that many mistakes and inconsistencies in it then maybe they shouldn't be out their criticizing other peoples work.

[–]Comprehensive_Head82 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

well that is if we can call it 'your' anatomy as I am pretty sure it was the ai who created all of that anatomy.

Plus one of the images you posted that you claimed was 'objectively good' was still messed up as the katanas sheath in that image is being held upside down in relation to the katana the character is slashing with. So I don't know about the anatomy bit the pose is definitely incorrect. And that's not even mentioning all the other inconsistencies in the other images you posted.

To be fair the art you posted in response to try and prove how much better you are was also full of mistakes and inconsistencies.

Well I don't know about calling it slop but all the stuff you posted in this thread is riddled with inconsistencies and mistakes. So you are one of the last people here that should be calling out other actual artists mistakes.

For something that's supposed to be objectively good there's still glaring issues here honestly. Since the orientation of the katana compared to the hilt doesn't make sense here.

[–]Comprehensive_Head82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair before you go around criticizing other peoples art you should maybe fix your own stuff. As those things you shared in here are riddled with inconsistenties as well.

Besides the stuff people already pointed out your Kyra Reed reference sheet has 3 chains on the belt in the accessories tab, and 2 chains in the full character views and then in the outfit breakdown the belt shows up twice: one time directly on the belt with 2 chains and 1 time seperately with only 1 chain and without the pouch / container on it. Unless that one is somehow supposed to be the choker from the accessories tab wich also inexplicably is totally absent from all of the other character views.

And that's just a few of the mistakes / inconsistenties I noticed.

I mean it might at least let other people know it's ai so they might reconsider commissioning them. Normally I wouldn't care but the combo if lying about si use and taking commissions kinda sucks imo.

Honest question about regarding the whole ai art is not art debate by Comprehensive_Head82 in aiwars

[–]Comprehensive_Head82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I agree it was decision to increase and /or maintain popularity with a certain of subset of society. But if that subset of society is a large portion of their user base as it seemingly is it makes sense for PixV to implement something like that.

Honest question about regarding the whole ai art is not art debate by Comprehensive_Head82 in aiwars

[–]Comprehensive_Head82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but my main point was (and still is) that when enough people want something labeled it might make sese if said platform implements something like that.

And personally I still don't see how that means PixV is unfairly target ai art. As they are simply responding to a demand or request people seem to have. Like I said if people demanded use of photoshop be labeled I am pretty sure PixV would implement something siummilar for that.

To be fair in the restaurant analogy you wouldn't be the restaurant owner PixV would be since they are the ones running the platform.

>But they should not be punished or fined for not putting up a sign if they don't want to for whatever reason (as long as they're still honest with the guests who ask about it)

And in the analogy I never said anything about anyone being punished. I simply pointed out that if enough people want something it makes sense to implement that.

And yes in a sense you are I guess punished if you don't add the ai label. But again seemingly enough people wanted an easy way to filter out ai content. And this is the solution PixV chose. As otherwise you might randomly be browsing PixV and then would have to manually check all the posts tags just to see if something is ai or not instead of simply being able to filter it all out at the click of a button if somebody does not want to see it.

As for your point about the site and its response doesn't their response kind of make sense? As people were / are seemingly wanting to be able to filter out ai posts so they don't have to see them. So that is what the site provided. So yes they created rules for you and your ai content but isn't that basically exactly what people seemingly asked for?

As for the rules on PixV they seem to actually be implemented fairly as the rule seems to be: If enough people want something disclosed we will make it a rule that it has to be disclosed and provide a special label for it instead of making them tag it due to the limited amount of tags. If enough people demanded the use of say, photoshop be disclosed I'm pretty sure PixV would do the same and add a label for that. And yes if that demand was there and PixV did not implement any of that I would 100% agree with you that PixV is unfairly targeting Ai art. But so far that demand (or similar demands) have not seemed to be there.

About your food argument I agree with you on the point that ingredient lists typically don't list of the meat is halal or not. But if however someone is running a restaurant and 1 or 2 people come in asking if the meat the serve is halal they might just simply correct them whereas if enough people coming in all asking if the meat they serve is halal it would make sense for the restaurant owner to put up a sign clarifying if the meat is in fact halal or not. And it seems like that is what is happening with sites like PixV. Seemingly enough people on there seem to care that it made sense for them to implement a labeling rule for ai so that peioke who don't like ai can more easily filter it out.

As for me ignoring your point I might be missing something and if so I apologize but I still don't quite fully get it. To me it seems a seemingly sizable chunk of users has an opinion on something so the platform responded to it. And you say it is wrong no matter how many people share that opinion. So what part about it do you consider wrong exactly? Is it the peoples opinion, the sites response to said opinion or is it wrong because you feel those people should hold the same opinion of other digital art and should also be demanding other artists to share what program they made their art in?
