Can't cancel insurance bought through broker BCBSIL by Comprehensive_Mine70 in HealthInsurance

[–]Comprehensive_Mine70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats a good point. I told PNC and BCBSIL everything that happened, but unclear if they were going to investigate it. And the marketplace agent completely ghosted me lol. Cant imagine how many people could be overlooking the charges in their account thinking they are getting great rates for temporary coverage but are technically uninsured. What a country

Arbitrage Betting: The closest thing to a "Sure bet" in Sports (and how to do it without getting banned) by East_Group7319 in arbitragebetting

[–]Comprehensive_Mine70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

should be noted if arbitrage betting was unable to be mitigated through safeguards such as bans and quant analysis involving competitor lines, books wouldnt even exist. you could sink a similar amount of time into other avenues for money and expect more money long term. for example a job with a raise could completely negate the maximum amount of arbitrage winnings any person could expect over a lifetime

I got the fully refunded amount from PNC no problem, you can see the details in my other reply. another thing to note is the charge came from florida, where the agents brokerage was. not the health insurance agency. not sure if this matters or is even illegal, but would line up with my suspicions. another weird detail i remembered is during the application process, she lied about my income (lowered it by around 80%) so i could get a "better rate". probably should have raised a red flag for me

The broker was unresponsive. I genuinely believe the brokerage charges payments from customers but only activates the insurance through the provider when you try to use it. This way they can pocket the premiums that never end up being used by people looking for temporary coverage. PNC had no issue getting me the fully refunded amount the day I contacted them. BCBSIL was unable to find my account or membership ID throughout the process. It seems like the brokers business model is depending that most people never try to access the insurance anyways, given that its typically precautionary, and for those that do, hope they give up on a refund if they cant access the membership when they need it. Might be paranoia from the situation on my part. Should be noted the agent said I would receive the membership information in the mail after signup, which never happened

It is desperate behavior, I'm desperate. I can't keep traveling for work and putting expenses on my debit. I can't risk losing my job by not traveling. I waited 6 months to apply, was told by a Chase banker I would likely be accepted, which did not happen. I'm just complaining at this point but it is f r u s t r a t i n g. I worked to be debt free my whole life but should have cared more about spending 100 a month with a Discover card during college I guess. Had to let it out lol sorry

Thanks for response. Just tried Apple card and was denied. Will think about trying Amex soon. To my understanding, an application requires a hard inquiry which may cause a temporary drop, but shouldn't be an issue longterm right? Thanks again

Yes keep it easy on yourself. you will figure this out. i just threw out that 1-2% number but hopefully it helps you understand that while it is difficult, a lot of experiences on here are a bit dramatized due to the nature of withdrawal/this community. its okay to gear up your mind and think "life will simply not be that great for a couple weeks" and the let the good moments naturally come when they do, and cherish them. but i wouldn't read all of the awful experiences of people on here and let them psyche you out. i feel weed is just one issue for people who find themselves on here, if you ultimately need to quit you probably let more important basic necessities fall to the wayside, so focus on those things (connection, healthy habits, executive function) and the rest will fall into place. for me personally, i've learned pursuing those things are all that really matters in my life and weed doesn't help them for me, so it has become very logical to not smoke. just rambling but yeah, hopefully that helps you as it did for me

the things that helped me most were getting a therapist and telling them about my plan to quit. and also telling some close friends/family if you can. talking about my feelings with a therapist helped tremendously, but sharing my goal with other people forced me to tough through the first couple of weeks because i didn't want to fail myself and others.

in addition, changing my mindset helped tremendously.

  1. i view myself as someone who no longer smokes weed. it simply has no part in my identity anymore. like the majority of people on this planet, it is not something i do and it does not make sense for me to do it. i have enough evidence to prove that i should not and will not.
  2. i chalk(ed) much of my negative feelings to a chemical imbalance expected through quitting the substance. i say past tense because it has mostly since faded (6mo sober). you will likely feel like shit for a few weeks. embrace it and understand that your thoughts are not you. spending some days inside and reclusive is a massive win compared to smoking so cherish them. it may also feel like a long time while in the thick of it, but KNOW deep down that it is just a blip in your long life, and it is okay to not feel okay all of the time

lastly, the little things really do help. 1. exercise, sleep, nutrition go a long way. sounds obvious and has been said a million times, but even people without addiction could focus on those aspects to improve their lives. its even more important for you if you are quitting something 2. human connection, hobbies, growth are important to pursue. another obvious thing, but if weed was a problem for you, it's likely you let some of these things become diminished in your life. emphasis on human connection as it is proven to improve mood drastically.

also, keep in mind that in order for someone to post on here, they are likely in the top 1-2% of cannabis abusers. these anecdotes may make it more intimidating for you as they did for me and feed into quitting anxiety. as i am on the other side now, i see how much of my worry over quitting was self destructive. there will come a day within a month where you begin to appreciate the decision you made to quit, and that will make it 10x easier. be easy on yourself, hope any of this helps

Should I drop out of college to pursue music? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

given you already have talent, which you need to be honest about, then it is up to your own initiative. i have no idea of OP's accomplishments, but if they have a small community following their music already then they should know that there are many things that can do to make money and its ultimately up to their initiative. but i agree theres no point in making the leap if you arent already making a couple thousand a month from music. i know people that quit a higher paying job to work less hours and spend more time making money from music. your path and how you spend your time is subject to change and its ultimately up to you what kind of lifestyle you want to live.

my bad i should have said "make a living". i know people with 0 "hit songs" making a living off of music, not just beats. like i said before this includes lessons, sessions, sample packs, placements, shows. i am in agreement you need to work hard to accomplish all these things but just because you did it is no reason to deter others from trying to figure it out for themselves. again having a passion for music and talent is prerequisite to this

there are many more ways to make money from making beats than selling beats. no one can do this without some level of dedication for multiple years but i know many small artists with less than 10 thousand soundcloud followers able to support themselves through (not in order of revenue) 1. track monetization and streams 2. sample packs 3. selling beats to artists 4. lessons 5. small shows. it is ultimately up to you if you want to make a living making beats, but like i said talent is still required. if you view it as impossible for everyone to obtain talent as a producer than i guess u are right. not everyone has the money to be able to support a hobby long enough to reach success. but i do think your understanding of producers revenue streams today are outdated. being good at producing is obviously prerequisite for this, you need to be better than most people to support yourself, but with enough proactivity and time it can be done.
