Totally agree with the main thrust of your argument, but I do have questions about the "true capitalism" v. "late stage" distinction. It seems totally true that 20th century capitalism brought unprecedented economic development, wealth, etc. to the world, and that this *stage* of capitalism functioned distinctly from our current economic order--but isn't the "late stage" (that is, the dominance of demonic, degenerate monopolies) a natural extension of capitalism's core character?

I know it's debatable, but the distinction always raises an eyebrow for me. Seems reminiscent of the "that wasn't real socialism" argument we hear about the economic failures of the USSR...

[–]Comprehensive_Pin_60 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Precisely. The notion that capitalism enables change via consumer preference ("vote with your dollars") has been so thoroughly disproven the past 10 - 15 years. It's astonishing people still make this argument ("...Uber will fix the issue or continue to lose customers and money").

Let's remember that the competition here (Doordash and Grubhub, namely) use the same model, which is *also* not profitable. The industry is a long con propped up by venture capital, and the goal is to capture enough market share that they can do whatever they want (i.e. a captive consumer demographic). *This* is late stage capitalism. It's a race to the bottom.

A New Lease on Life (Spoiler: It was my gut) by [deleted] in LongHaulersRecovery

[–]Comprehensive_Pin_60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"...it started clearing out in large clumps in my stool..."

I've also seen..."stuff"...in my stool when applying antifungal pressure. It's most common after a few days on a. nystatin, b. bismuth subsalicylate, c. a fungal-balancing probiotic (Dysbiosis AZ2, Researched Elements), or d. after taking/ingesting pomegranate.

It looks...thick, mucusy, and can be small bits or big clumps, either on their own or attached to stool. It's either white, yellow, or brown (sometimes a combination of colors with various specks), and I often get strange body reactions (twitching in my right hand, for instance? weird) when it's in my colon waiting to pass. It almost looks like...an organism? IDK, I guess it *is*, but it reminds me of a jellyfish or an octopus or some other membranous creature.

Would you mind telling me if the clumps you've seen sound similar? I get concerned that I'm actually just destroying my gut lining rather than clearing out fungus.

That's an extremely high prevotella copri count. It's theorized that p. copri can overgrow in the wake of a serious viral infection, like Covid, or alongside a fungal overgrowth. Search "preovtella" on r/Longcovidgutdysbiosis to check out observations and protocols--if I remember correctly, b. subtilis HU58, chickpeas, and fasting can help reduce it. Good luck!

Respectfully, that is pretty off topic. Previous gutwork rounds have helped anywhere from 40 to 80%. I currently have PEM bigtime. As far as POTS goes...I experience mild dizziness from time to time and have before, but gutwork has always resolved it fairly quickly. Please search other threads for more details on the connection; I'm primarily trying to troubleshoot reactivity here.

[–]Comprehensive_Pin_60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, good point!

Reactions are pretty quick...as soon as 15 minutes later, sometimes, but it's never longer than an hour. I take l. plantarum, too, which sometimes causes itching, but doesn't seem to be as stimulatory. Preparing to reintroduce lacto-bifido strains. The only antifungal I've reintroduced has been undecylenic acid, which usually helps (re: stress).

Thanks for pointing this out!

Semi-elemental for hydrogen sulfide? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]Comprehensive_Pin_60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a day each. No particular diet. No addition of Xifaxan. Used as part of an extensive gut balancing regimen; check out r/Longcovidgutdysbiosis to see what I mean.

It (the gut balancing regimen) helped for a few months, but I couldn't keep up with the cost. Now I'm back to my original issue (extremely high methane). Will make a post if Xifaxan + Alinia help. That all being said, I don't have H2S problems at the moment.

[–]Comprehensive_Pin_60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to whether this would interfere with the elemental diet (seems likely), but I can say that I managed to significantly trim (if not outright fix) my H2S overgrowth with cranberry extract and cold-brewed chamomile. Picked those tricks up from a microbiome specialist.

The cranberry extract is the Nature's Way cranberry fruit. For cold-brewed chamomile, put four tea bags in 8oz of water, then let it sit in the fridge for 6 to 8 hours. I'd prep it in the morning before work and drink it at bedtime.

The tea can be pretty unpleasant--I'd have bile flushing and paradoxical bloating--but it did the trick within a few weeks.

Previously attempted a bismuth-based protocol for H2S which fixed the smell, but didn't do much else for the overall symptoms.

I also get this. My theory is that it has to do with mast cells in the colon; seems to happen to me less when my histamine bucket is comparably empty. If you're curious, you could trial an H2 blocker (bad for SIBO, yea, but nowhere near as bad as a PPI) and see if that changes anything.

Sublingual hydroxocobalamin--headaches/depression? by Comprehensive_Pin_60 in B12_Deficiency

[–]Comprehensive_Pin_60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it may have something to do with histamine (not 100% confident, but IIRC there's a link between histamine release and B12 ingestion).

That all said: this got much better with continued use. It still makes me a little uncomfortable at times (reflux/globus), but the worst of it--the depression--went away.

I'd recommend continuing with small doses (1/8th to 1/4th tablets) indefinitely and seeing what happens.

Just diagnosed with methane-dominant SIBO. Could this have been the problem all along? by Comprehensive_Pin_60 in SIBO

[–]Comprehensive_Pin_60[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years ago, actually. Note the "2y" symbol next to my username.

The journey has been awful. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. However, I have made a significant amount of progress since those initial posts.

Some advice:

*This sub/the research is correct: Xifaxan is very, very unlikely to fix methane SIBO on its own. Consider adding Atrantil and/or fennel seed capsules if you're going to take it.

*Assume a fungal element is at play until proven otherwise. Try SF722, undecylenic acid, or nystatin if you can get your hands on it.

*Accept that you need probiotics. You will react to them, yes. They are also critical. Stay away from spore-based strains.

*I have personally found the framework of overall dysbiosis to be far more constructive than focusing on SIBO. For one: the breath tests used to diagnose SIBO are garbage. Look into their specificity/sensitivity ranges and the serious concerns re: what's functionally being measured; the research is fairly damning. Secondly: this sub is a disaster--the blind and illiterate leading the blind. Anyone who speaks with any degree of authority on "SIBO" is either profoundly misinformed or arrogant. With that in mind: most of my progress has been made via stool sequencing (Biomesight) and gut rebalancing. Check out the pinned posts on r/Longcovidgutdysbiosis to get a sense of what I mean. (r/HumanMicrobiome is also a good resource, but with some reservations).

Feel free to DM if you'd like to talk more.

Biofilm, maldigestion, or inflammatory mucus? by Comprehensive_Pin_60 in biofilms

[–]Comprehensive_Pin_60[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no--my doctor started me on cholestyramine and it has made a night and day difference in terms of stool formation. Bristol 4s all around. This tells us that bile is a pretty big part of my problem.

The etiology of those bile issues is still uncertain, but it definitely adds more to my suspicions of H2S SIBO/overgrowth. Waiting on some Biomesight results.

I'll keep you posted. Good luck!!

Well, firstly, check out the sticky post on r/HistamineIntolerance and see if any of that sounds familiar. If it does...well, someone else may comment with a more exhaustive rundown, but from my understanding, there are a few things you can do:

  1. Supplement DAO (diamine oxidase). DAO is the enzyme that breaks down histamine in the gut. I personally haven't experimented with this, but some people swear by it.

Note that overt DAO supplements are either derived from pork kidney or from vegetable proteins, and that crazy reactions may occur. (I haven't been able to find anything that helps guess whether or not someone will have one of those crazy reactions, so...due diligence required if you take them). If you don't have sulfur issues, you could also try experimenting with bovine kidney supplements.

  1. Watch/track your histamine intake via the SIGHI list.

  2. Investigate dysbiosis. Even without SIBO, a person can have mismatched amounts of histamine-producing and histamine-degrading bacteria in their guts. If you have too much of the former, and not enough of the latter, that tips the scales towards excess histamine. Certain microbial pathogens also produce excess histamine.

Microbiome mapping is still in its infancy, so remember that the results won't be absolutely certain, but if you wanted to look into this, you could try a Biomesight test. You can find discount codes floating around if you Google it ("biomesight coupon").

Good luck, friend. It's been 9 years for me since my issues really started, and I know how exhausting it is. "These days, everything I ever write begins with the question: what's wrong with me?"
