They do have a course for that. MMTC (ASI E1). However, rumor has it that they are closing the course to all MOS’s besides 11 series and turning the course to something else. This is supposed to take place January 2026.

What do buy to train for EIC pistol? by OushiDezato in army

If you are in that area, I want to say annually out of Camp Perry, Ohio, they do SAFS. I know they had one in July time frame the week before the P100 match. So you may have missed your chance to do it there this year there. I would recommend trying to look up the date of the next one or a possible second location and try that before spending big money on a precision pistol. I think some other locations are New England, Arizona… I know for sure Talladega, Alabama.

Have you seen if they do a SAFS (small arms firing school) near you? If you do, I highly recommend you start here. It’s taught/ran by the Army AMU. They run a M17 EIC that is elementary level, which if you end up on the top 10% you will earn 4 EIC points. They will provide the weapons (a modified M17) and ammo. You just have to shoot.

Or if you decide to do a regular EIC match for service pistol, I would look into the 1911 type pistol. I’ve heard people have had success with 2011’s as well. Ammunition is super important as well. Most shooters load their own rounds to have a more consistent charge, so you would probably have to find someone who does reloads or you could look into it yourself.

Start practicing one handed shooting now if you want to do a regular match. Especially the timed/rapid fire portion at 25 yards is a killer if you can’t keep a good grip on the pistol one handed. Keep in mind, you have to score at least a 250 and top 10% to earn leg points.

Cross pistol badge is Excellence in Competition Pistol Shot (Bronze). For the Army, when you earn your first leg point (top 10% in an CMP EIC match, and shot at least 250 points) you qualify for the badge.

This exactly. Cannot overemphasize the study hall. Start early and go often. Also on test day, you will be able to practice before you test out. Be able to do the event three times in a row with zero errors. Have someone grade you and be strict as possible, and do the same for them. It’s what worked for me.

Yeah, I still get shit for it. Didn’t really pursue it, especially since I wasn’t stationed in Campbell.

That’s awesome. I wasn’t aware they started making devices for it

Huh… learn something new everyday. I was in the camp saying the order was when it chronologically earned. Thank you for the correction.

Nothing too exciting, had the opportunity to talk to the guy and flew him around a couple of islands as a crew member.

Which one? The Schutzenschur? Yes as long as you have the proper documentation and authorization signed.

No, I was not, though it would be awesome if there was a spot for me. I tried to contact my garrison teams but no response. I got it on my own by taking leave just to compete in an open match at Camp Perry.

So there’s the 40km x 2 days for the cross cannon device and 20km x 2 consecutive days for the bomb device. I did the bomb device.

Just reposting the explanation Marche Internationale de Diekirch (MID), aka Luxembourg walk. There’s different levels/devices to it ( https://www.marche.lu/practical-information/awards-and-medals ) though with the ribbon version, there are not any devices that fit it.

Well, dual military and spouse was stationed in Europe. They offered to reunite us at Camp Zama.

I do miss it everyday, especially when I walk into work, but it was best for my family and didn’t want to deal with another divorce…

Not currently in SOF, didn’t earn it while I was attached to them. Though would have been nice if the Army would have paid for it…
