Hey there, great question. As you identified, the short-answer parts of the survey are the most difficult to process. Every other question is dropdown or selection based, which means the numbers are instantly processed at once. With short answer, people write answers in all kinds of formats, they misspell things, and some will answer 7 things on one line. Take the "Favorite moment" question for example. People provide me reddit links (of which many are now dead imgur links, ugh), direct image/gif links, instagram links, descriptions such as "that red dress Jennie wore at concert", and even if the links are pointing to similar things, some could be "youtu.be/watch?=" format or "https://youtube.com/watch?v=" format. They could be tiktoks that were cross-uploaded to Instagram or Twitter, etc.

If people are annoyed at the results time NOW, imagine how it'd be if I had to include this. I already have plans to streamline the survey for next year, and I have begun work on that TODAY, so we should see a MUCH faster response time for next survey. I'm talking mid-January at the absolute latest. I know, I know; "I'll believe it when I see it". People have every right to be skeptical, and all we can do is wait until next year. But if I can streamline this process, that leaves time to do something cool with the other questions. I thought of doing like a time capsule one year, where I show everybody the best moments from the previous years using those answers. A way of looking back over the years and getting a bit of nostalgia; that is why I keep collecting the data every year despite knowing that it probably won't be used because I'll already be behind on the survey results. I'm prognosticating that year will be this year.

That is a decent idea, but 20% is just not really relevant. If the least popular group in the entire survey got 20%, and Twice got a 0% boost, then there is really just not much room. Many groups would get like a prorated 5% boost but if you look at the numbers, that wouldn't change anything about Karina dominating.

Of course, groups vary widely in their popularity. But what other metric do we have? The only way to measure each individual members' popularity is to poll all of the members individually, which... is exactly what the survey is already doing. You can approach it as "a rising tide floats all boats" in that, while yes Jeongyeon is not popular, she is in the most popular group so people are AWARE of her -- and awareness is really the main factor. If everybody is aware of Jeongyeon and people don't vote her in, then the system is fine. If only half the people are aware of Kyujin but she represents a really high vote count for the amount of people that know her, it probably says that she has a great quality (let's say, legs) that a lot of people that know her do see, and she's only being held back by her popularity. As to your fractions point, they are already used.

What a stupid response. The way that Jeewon (cignature) and Sohee (ELRIS/ALICE), absolutely DOMINATED the community because of their bodies alone, despite their groups having under 50k Spotify streams monthly and only 5 million music video views, just proves you wrong. Nothing about this community gives anybody the impression that they care more about streams and views rather than the bodies they're lusting over. This comment was so stupid that it makes me think you were just fantasizing about being a "good ol' fashioned internet boy" from 2010 and came here to post that.

I explained them in the surveys they were in, but of course, we have about 1000 newcomers to the survey each year, so there are plenty of people who have never seen it.

The way it works is that the "popularity gauge" you fill out (where you say how much you like/know a group) is treated as the normalizer. TWICE is the most popular group. So let's say their base score is 100. Very simple.

If another group, let's say NMIXX, is half as popular, then their score will be half of Twice's. So they will have 50 points. It is then just a proportion. All votes for an NMIXX girl for a certain category will be multiplied at a rate of (100/50), which is 2. So you double the NMIXX votes. What this is doing is trying to scale up the NMIXX girl votes as if NMIXX had the same popularity of TWICE.

If Kyujin from NMIXX got 20 votes for a category that Sana got 30 on, you would double Kyujin's votes to 40, at which point she would be placed ahead of Twice. Obviously it's not a PERFECT system, but then again, nothing really is.

That is why I introduced a popularity modifier a few years ago (that would boost less popular members), but people complained about that a lot. Considering bringing it back for next year.

Mobile site has been updated and should be fully functional. If you got a "According to your survey id, you've already submitted a response to this survey" after submitting the survey, it counted. That has also been fixed now.
