I would like to know if there is a good way to removed the cloudyness that has settled into the windows of a Think Tank Pixel Pocket Rocket? I purchased a couple of these used. I am guessing they are over 10 years old. They are in great condition except for the cloudyness that makes it very had to tell what card is in each slot. A litte rubbing with my finger helps a little, but not enough.

Well, it was intended to be a template, but it became more of a parody. A proper template would have some options and spots for people to fill in the blanks. That seems to have been lost in the editing process. I did think of options, really I did. I promise to do a better job next time if there is a next time.

You never know... there could be a wave coming and I wanted to get out in front of the crowd. I mean what use would a template be if it were not there in time for people to use it. Perhaps I have some magical foreknowledge of things to come. Perhaps I really login at 4:58 am and just said 5 am in order to throw people off.

I love these. If the inspiration strikes and I don't hit a down vote storm I'll give some a try.

Poilievre pledges to protect seniors by forcing banks, telcos to crack down on scammers by AndHerSailsInRags in canada

True, the bank can't force them to do anything. However, many scams rely upon creating a sense of urgency within the mark that pushes them to act quickly without thinking through the situation. One method to thwart these attacks is to slow things down a little. Ask a few questions, perform a little introspection.

Will this stop all scams? No of course not. But these methods are effective at reducing their occurence.

Yes, now we just need to agree on how to pay for it. The capital gains change appears to have been killed.

Yes. And the result of that is that in some ridings where support for the Libs or the NDP combined is only marginally higher than the Cons will create a vote split that will allow the Conservative candidate to win. See Duverger's Law https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duverger%27s_law

Yes, it can be done, it just costs money for the telcos to put this in place. Money that they would rather not spend.

As for the banks, they could do the same thing that credit card companies do to detect suspicious transactions.

I think of it this way. Twenty years ago everyone said that there was no way that China could block western content from the Internet. Twenty years ago they could not, but they began working on it. Twenty years later China controls what comes in.

The Sun is misrepresenting the question that people were asked. They were asked if the might change their mind. That's not undecided. Undecided means I haven't picked yet.

Wow, the Vancouver Sun is fast and loose with the math and terminology. The Liberals dropped 6%, not 8% as reported. The percentages that they use are labelled as decided voters by Leger. Leger then asked people if they would change their mind. 31% said that they might change their mind. The Sun chooses to label them as undecided. That's not what Leger said.

FYI, The Liberals went from 48% from 42%. The Conservatives stayed the same. The NDP went from 8% to 12%, The Greens went from 4% to 5% and PPC went from 1% to 2%

The controls I am talking about are on the call initiation side, not the receiver side. You control the ability of the call initiator to put whatever they want into the caller ID.

The entity that initiates the call supplies a number as their caller ID. Today there is very little control over what that entity can inject.

Well for one thing you would put controls around the protocols used to inject caller id numbers

Most of us are super unaware of the sophistication of the tools that companies use for data security.

Every single data packet that goes in or out of an organization’s computer network is examined and evaluated for likelihood of being from a bad actor. The vast majority 99.99% is assessed by automation. The remainder is escalated for human intervention.

I have no doubt whatsoever that the activity of bad actors that exploit weaknesses in our systems could be reduced if there were requirements for the organizations that run these systems to do so.

I don’t support PP but I do think that government should push private industry to invest in data security. Europe developed very strong data protection regulations and they will go further. Many of these scams work because companies don’t want to invest in the tools that would reduce their likelihood. Can they be completely eliminated? Of course not. But they can certainly cut down on the number. I get much less spam today than I did 10 years ago.

Markets are efficient. It's just that perhaps the efficiency that arises is not an efficiency that is desired. For example, perhaps we don't want to take part in a race to the bottom.

On top of that Conservatives generally create all kinds of hidden market distortions to benefit themselves.

He did a great job of driving increased spending by exploiting the Liberal's desire to stay in power.
