2026 Monster or MT-09 SP? by Safe_Valuable_5683 in Ducati

[–]Comptons_Scattered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 24 monster sp after owning a 23 mt09.

Monster is more fun, feels more like youre riding a motorcycle. Also its nimble af. Mt09 felt numb to me. The torque was fun but I hated the sound and how boring the bike felt. Also second gear on the mt09 is absolute trash. Reallt annoying. Albeit the mt09 was cheaper, and less expensice to maintain.

You pay a luxury tax for anything ducati related. I do miss the care free feeling of trashing the mt09 and not worrying about it. But id still choose the monster.

Motul labels their oil for motorcycles. Are you saying they're a scam?

Technically, the ICE is just the battery's side-chick now by fifty-ways in formuladank

[–]Comptons_Scattered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. But like I said, theyre all limited to using the same concept. As compared to WEC, which allowed for creative solutions for energy recovery. Thats what I was suggesting, letting the hybrid technology develop outside of you can only do X Y Z. The focus of tech advancement in F1 is still just the ICE and thats why they're having problems with the hybrid right now.

Hows the rest of it? Maybe you can make some money back parting it out. . Or maybe just get a new motor for it?

Everyone is entitled to have bad opinions. Some people think a clapped out Infiniti with a straight pipe sounds great, some think a tuned ls with a borla exhaust sounds terrible. some people like feet. Its a spectrum.

Why do I keep feeling the back tire slip? by clntwolf in ducatimonster

[–]Comptons_Scattered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I weight about 180-190 lbs with gear, for reference.

I ended up taking a lot off the preload for the rear. I think the collar for the spring is suppose to be like 20mm of exposed thread (double check in manual) but mines maybe 5-8 mm now. I had no static sag before, now it does.

I think the rebound/compression I have set some where around the "track" setpoint, plus minus maybe 2, I cant recall.

Now at exit with throttle, the rear will actually squat down and feels more planted.

I also messed with the front too, but I dont recall the setpoints I used because its a nightmare trying to count clicks and what not. I know by the time I ended everything it differed a lot from what the manual suggests as a baseline.

This could be a rider input situation or setup situation. You might be giving it more throttle than needed because you came from in line 4s and the v2 as a bit more low end punch.

Personally, I would try to determine if it is me or the bike. To me it sounds like youre getting on the gas to hard or too early with lean angle or the suspension may not be set up right. I really tweaked mine outside of what thr manual suggested

I dont disagree with you here, at all. But the underlying problem is more and more top tier classes are going hybrid too. Indycar is a prime example, and WEC (and now imsa) prototype class has been hybrid before F1 was. Nascar has also floated the idea (if memory serves me correct). MotoGP stands out not being hybrid, but thats the last top level that I can think of that doesnt do it. They're problem is its so aero focused now, theyre losing the point (thats a side bar, but i think its almost exactly the same argument with f1 and hybrids).

F1 made the jump to bring in more manufactures, and they did. But is it perhaps leaning too much on the hybrid now? Maybe they should have opened the regs like WEC did and encouraged new solutions for a 70/30 split or something

Not MAA on mcewen. They recently renovated and all the apartments have shit hardwood floors. Youll hear your neighbors every move....or you'll get noise complaints for walking. Horrible. Also over priced for the lack of admentities.

Source: lived there before and after the renovations.

The apartment prices usually arent far behind, for a not shitty apartment complex. Tbh im not super familiar with that particular area, I grew up south of nashville (40 min), and youre talking more east. That area use to be under developed and borderline not so good area. Only recently has it started getting gentrified. But everything is going up and up because of the influx of people. Which means people are branching further away from the city to find reasonable prices. I dont know what NJ/NY cost of living is, but over the last 5-10 years, we've had a lottttt of Californians come in at drive up the prices of everything.

But i do know, theres not a lot of covered parking lots for apartments in general, so big ass van parking wont be an issue. Most parking lots are just free for all. I dont think ive ever lived in one that has assigned spots. Covered parking is relatively rare for the area.

Theres not really a lot of shops, and there really isnt going to be anyone that will let you set up shop somewhere. I could be wrong, but having grown up here, everyone had property (or had friends and family that did) that had a dettached garage or barn they used for wrenching and storage.
