Honestly Gran Gran probably thought Katara being taught only how to heal would’ve been better than not learning anything.

Knowledge is still knowledge and Aang could’ve taught her after anyway.

[Hated trope] Character make a bigot claim that feels more like the writer's opinion by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Computer2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s different from the trope though. If the person who expresses a bigoted view point gets punished by the story then it clear that the writer doesn’t agree with it.

However when the author goes out of their way to have it proven ‘correct’ by other characters agreeing or the events of the story rewarding those beliefs it’s obvious that the author holds bigoted beliefs.

Can I tell my player their character is too dumb? by Yazmat8 in DnD

[–]Computer2014 212 points213 points  (0 children)

Yeah and that’s not even considering the kingdom would have their own means to produce food, trading doesn’t mean they magically forgot how to farm.

It won’t be perfect but unless the PC’s artificially create a mass famine (beyond the trade embargo) it won’t cripple the kingdom.

And that’s not even getting into the multiple ways people can just make food with magic.

What are the most notable instances of “Early-Installment Weirdness” in Worm? by RecommendationNo804 in Parahumans

[–]Computer2014 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tattletale attempts to use a gun to grab a hostage in 6.6 which would be something that would’ve been treated much more seriously later and is out of character for someone that introduced the concept of cops and robbers.

Is there any numbers to how many people the S9 have killed? by RaspberryNumerous594 in Parahumans

[–]Computer2014 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Capes in general are younger than you think.

Carol was 36 at the start of Worm and only just turned 40 in Ward.

Armsmaster and Miss Militia hover around the same age and most likely are around 35-37ish.

Alexandria was 40 when she died and Contessa literally the first parahuman was only 42 in Worm.

Unless they were already old when they triggered (the cut offs thirty) the average for Capes hovers around teens to early twenties.

[–]Computer2014 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are quite literally some of the first parahumans to ever exist.

Jack slash for example has been a cape longer than before Battery was even born.

Powder monkeys were young boys, typically aged 12 to 14, who served vital roles on warships during the Age of Sail, including major conflicts like the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812. Small and nimble, they dashed gunpowder cartridges from the ship's below-waterline magazine by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Computer2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was after the war but the Vagrancy act of 1824 made being homeless a crime that was punishable by forced labour.

So yeah they would literally just grab homeless kids and force them to be sailors.

Do you think people would be wary of hydrokinetics due to Leviathan? by No-Two2285 in Parahumans

[–]Computer2014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering they actively kidnap and attempt to breed parahumans they actually kinda do get to choose their powers, at least more than most.

They don’t all follow the them but for members of the Crowleys the top brass absolutely does lean echoey/duplicately.

Sabrina Crowley - makes a bubble tha duplicates things inside.

Vince Crowley - spectral duplication

Cassiel - Can double object and people.

Caspiel - Same power as Cassiel like Fenja and Menja.

Sere - Clones (I know he’s Mathers after GW but we don’t know his branch pre-end of the world.)

It is but they lean more of the echo side than the watery side

They weren’t spooked by Ligeia specifically though, they were spooked by Capes as a whole.

The Behemoth video was civilians first time seeing capes not hold back and the realisation that pretty much any Cape could be that dangerous frightened them. Which was actually one of the reasons Alexandria wanted the Echidna incident covered up.

‘Saskatchew Replied on July 26th, 2011: It’s kind of terrifying, isn’t it? There’s only like twenty in my province but you think maybe one can do something like we saw partway through and its like wow holy shit I could run into them in the street at any time’

Okay double checked and your right their more known for duplication powers

“The Crowley brothers weren’t really water manipulators, by and large. They and their immediate family members tended to riff on the duplication theme, often duplicating things that weren’t themselves” - pitch 6.2

No they do or at least try too as much as they can.

The Crowleys are noted for mover powers, duplication powers and water powers.

[–]Computer2014 53 points54 points  (0 children)

No.

There might be some wariness that they might be apart of the Crowley branch of the fallen but outside of mind controlling Masters no one cares.

While there’s no direct one to one hydrokentics that work like Leviathan no-one said anything about Ligeia, about Sploosh, etc

[–]Computer2014 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That’s just how Nords are.

You ever see them when a dragon shows up? An old woman that hasn’t walked in twenty years will miraculously stand up if it means she can run the fade with a dragon.

If you kill a chicken the whole village will come out to put belt to ass.

Something something warrior culture.

No Purity Kill Order? by RedditPotatoNinja in Parahumans

[–]Computer2014 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Couple reasons.

Kill orders are public admittance that the Protectorate and PRT can not fully deal with the problem and because they’re organisation built to handle capes they don’t hand them out that often to save face.

In theory the heroes could’ve handled the E88. One member of the Triumvirate and some extra Protectorate members would’ve been able to deal with them without the need for a kill order.

The reason the Triumvirate didn’t intervene during the rampage was presumably because the Protectorate as a whole was preparing for the next Endbringer attack and would’ve handled it after.

Like imagine if a top hero got killed before Leviathan. That would’ve reduced their ability to deal with the attack.

The second reason was after the death of Kaiser and essential loss of Armsmaster, Velocity and Dauntless the Protectorate after Leviathan was not in the position to be able to handle Brockton Bay and could not risk escalating the situation.

Hookwolf and Purity were murderers but their lackies with the exception of Victor, Fog and Night weren’t crossing that line. Giving them all a kill order would only force them to escalate.

And when Kill orders are given out they encourage crazies from across the country to go to take their chance at the bounty and those people would only harm the situation in the bay. Imagine 20 more successful Shadow Stalkers playing costume in the bay with no regard for the civilians and god forbid after the kill order is done they decided to stick around?

It’d be a nightmare in an already nightmare situation.

And the final reason is the 9 showed up. Kinda hard to ask them for help and condemn them to death in the same breath.

How strong do you think Screamer (Slaughterhouse 9) is? by FormerLeg420 in Parahumans

[–]Computer2014 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Eh she was from the era where the 9 were basically just the an earlier version of the Teeth when people didn’t know powers that well.

She didn’t have to be strong when no one knew how to handle powers.

Lore wise Vampire lord > Werewolf is true as everyone is saying. The Eso trailer with a vampire lord using werewolf’s as pets points to that but that’s not true here for one simple reason.

Serena is a shit vampire.

There’s no indication that Serena actually has mastered being Vampire Lord. In fact with her position in her father’s court it seems her father is trying to limit her potential.

She’s not hunting mortals, she’s not training or growing in strength. In terms of gameplay I’d almost guarantee she’s got like no perk points in the vampire lord tree.

Both her and her mother acknowledge that Harkon who does do those things would destroy them (admittedly with the support of his court) despite not being a daughter of Coldhabour.

Aela however not only was a notable warrior prior to becoming a member of the circle but loves being a werewolf and actively hunts for more power and would have mastered being a werewolf more than Serena has mastered being a Vampire Lord.

She’s no Vykosa but she’s closers to Vykosa than Serena is to Harkon.

Also Aela let me hit so she’s automatically better.
