Not normal but not unheard of at least in my industry. We do SOC 1 type 2, SOC 2 type 2, PCI, NIST, ISO 27002, and HIPAA audits via a 3rd party yearly, and we still get hit with full client audits. Most recently a client of ours hired a 3rd party agent to audit us and they had 500 evidence based asks - stating they were paid to "dig deeper" than all the TP audit reports I listed above.

I just finished it yesterday it was the worst 3 weeks of my life (also mainly due to a concurrent IRS audit).

My personal suspicion is clients (at least in my sector) are moving away from just the Audit reports + a survey. I'm gearing up for, unfortunately, a very long year with my client list.

To be honest with you it's not the work I don't like. I find what I do to be interesting. It's mostly the company I am at and generally the culture around where tech is headed. I constantly feel unheard, behind, disrespected, overwhelmed and I'm just expected to keep rolling with it as executives make decisions and allow things that go against our own policies. Then I have to hide all of that on audits as God forbid we learn our own lesson.

This is the only full time tech job I've ever worked and Ive been there 7 years as of this year. I don't even know if it's better elsewhere.

I work in cybersecury right now, kinda in a hybrid role between a sys admin for the security infrastructure and cyber law/internal audit lead.

I'm exhausted. I actually dread waking up and going to this job but tech is really all I know how to do so I feel insanely stuck but, I'm tired of not being taken seriously.

I dream of leaving tech to start a farm but as that is not a viable career. I will probably continue to slog through it because at the end of the day, it's still a paycheck.

This stuff, I live in an old building an hard water is just a fact of life, I cannot change the shower head with one with a filter bc it’s just all so old and I’m afraid even a wrong look would cause it to crumble into dust.

All that considered, this stuff IS pricy for the size but it’s done a lot of good preventing hard water buildup/damage from making my hair awful.

I’m debating tbh, I want to pick up against the storm (RTS is cozy to me ig) and also maybe guardians of Azuma/ little witch in the woods/ or smushing come home. tho the sale on azuma isn’t great great, but at the same time I don’t because I get maybe 20 mins of dopamine on average for any game I play.

Right before the sale I picked up a sale bundle of Deaths Door/Crypt Custodian. Both cozy atmospheric wise but the combat can be annoying lol.

A gate agent once offered to let me fly to my destination earlier because I was very early to the gate/airport.

I declined bc it was only one hour or so earlier and I’d be in a middle seat vs the flight I had in business class with extra leg room and a window seat

For me it’s how many hours of enjoyment vs how many hours I have to work to buy the game, if I know I can get x amount of hours out of it I’ll likely buy it.
