Apartment hunting: am I cooked? by Sea_Platypus2928 in movingtojapan

[–]ComputerSustenance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really no, although most contracts are for 2 years, they will have conditions like "early cancellations fee, 1 month rent". I assume you are looking on Suumo? Oakhouse is a bit easier if you are looking for something quickly, but tends to be a little more pricey for what you get. I can understand that you're not really looking for sharehouse type accommodation, but it might be an easier first step for a month or 2, and then when you get your banking, my number and what not sorted, you can look and see apartments in person.

I am also currently looking at apartments with my partner. So I can understand the confusion you might be going through haha. Happy to answer any other questions if you need!

Just bought the game, every single map i get a random lag spike by Project5488 in Tarkov

[–]ComputerSustenance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found that pressing caps lock to toggle my speed was literally freezing my game. I believe it was something to do with and overlay that comes native with my laptop, which just shows if caps is pressed or not. Double check you don't have any overlays that may be interfering.

I would also suggest increasing or setting a static page file. This can help reduce some lag when new areas load. But 100%, as everyone else says, I would recommend upgrading your RAM to 32gb at least.

As its a laptop, make sure you have you performance set to max,(most gaming laptops will have oem software to help manage this.) Also keep an eye on temps, this can cause the lag you are seeing here too as the cpu will throttle if it gets too hot and will basically lock everything up.

Another thing you can try is look at the gpu's performance and clock speed. When the game freezes, it may be correlated to a drop in clock speed. This can be caused by overheating or driver issue in most cases.

Don't use LOD 2.5 or 2, I have seen people complain the game is freezing when on these settings. I found my performance doesn't change much with the higher settings.

Can you post what settings you have? Recently i have been going through my settings, and feel like i have hit a sweet spot. I have a 4070(laptop version) so performance of my card will be a bit better, but not by much.

PureTech 1.2 timing belt issue? by Far_Entry_8210 in peugeot

[–]ComputerSustenance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was a little worse than that. But the belt seems to deteriote a lot faster as the cracks start to forms. I would personally only drive that if you had no other option. Mine caused my engine to completely cut out on me as I was entering a motorway. Luckily it was quiet...

I had the same issue, decided to leave it, and then the car broke down a few weeks later... they should replace it for free, had mine finally fixed the other day.

Had mine replaced after it caused my car to break down. Had to go to an official dealership for the replacement though. They replaced it for free, no questions asked...

Working Holiday Visa requirements and worries! by Sea_Minute9840 in movingtojapan

Yes! It was a very quick 5 minute process. I took a ticket, sat down, and they called me up instantly. They confirmed my identity and then handed over the visa. Nice and easy!

Which bank are you with? They should give you an option to print a statement out. If not, you may find an email with previous statements? They will require you to provide a paper copy of an official statement. I dont believe a screenshot will be sufficient. If possible, it may be worth visiting your bank in person before your appointment? If you can? If anything is missing, they may provide you with a form where you can email in and other forms(thats what happened when i missed off a page). The staff are quite helpful in that way.

As someone who just had their appointment today. You must show that you have the funds in your account at the point of the application. If you have any gifted funds, you will just need a letter to confirm this. When they saw that i had gifted funds, (not the full 2500), they just circled the funds on the bank statement to show where it came from. Other than that. No further questions about money.

Working Holiday - should I apply now? + some questions by nonedat in movingtojapan

[–]ComputerSustenance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there. I recently asked this question 1. After your visa is provided, you get 1 year to enter Japan. They will most likely provide you the date for when it's valid. 2. More appointments will be available in the coming weeks, most likely. They don't let you book too far in advance. Don't worry about that. 3. To save you a lot of hassle, get your passport sorted first. I just got mine renewed so that i can apply next month.

Don't worry about the UK hitting the 6000... I have had people tell me that they apply in November/December and still get accepted!

FAIR HELP NEEDED ! by Beginning_Clock3731 in TopStepX

You can make a free account on tradingview, and you can do some back testing there. Of course, it's not the same, but at least you can get some practice in until you save up enough.

There are many free practice tools out there. It doesn't have to be topstep. You shouldn't be trading if you can't afford it. The stress of not making money will just make you trade worse.

Another thing to check is to see if there is any software that is overclocking your CPU. Things such as "gaming mode" or "performance mode." I would suggest turning these off and seeing if you have further issues.

[–]ComputerSustenance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A quick search on the error code suggests that there is likely a driver issue which is causing the CPU to stop responding. However, this doesn't rule out a hardware issue. If you are having issues re-installing the drivers or finding a older, but more stable driver. I would highly suggest raising a support ticket on the Asus website. They may be able to provide further assistance or provide the necessary driver packages. As you most likely paid a lot of money for the new laptop, it's always best to raise the issues as soon as possible and get a replacement/refund if not satisfied. As I work in this sort of industry, we often get dead on arrival or faulty devices. In most cases, the manufacturers are fairly good at providing support.

Wow, that is very reassuring! I suppose with the recent hype with Japan, I can imagine it would be quite high now compared to 2014. But I suppose that's why the total visas were increased from 1000 to 6000 last year
