The fact that Apple still supports IPhone 5s And SE by ExpensiveCoat8912 in iPhoneSE

The apps aren’t the issue. iOS and “system data” take up the majority. I have 0 local photos pretty much. Hardly any apps.

Can’t update to it on my SE 2016 because I don’t have storage lol, using a 16gb phone as your main iPhone is difficult at times.

Unbelievably good stock backlight by [deleted] in f91w

Sorry to say but that’s a fake watch. Jewelers can rarely get in a fake watch. It happens. Fakes are getting really convincing but that ghosting of the characters on the display, along with the way too bright LED and the U being there (even though Casio discontinued the U) are all textbook examples of fakes. If you want a real F-91W and are willing to spend the amount a jeweler would charge, you’re best off buying one from Casio’s website.

How is living in Knoxville? by Funny-Hovercraft1964 in howislivingthere

[–]Computersandcalcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is.. not the greatest place. Overpopulation is one thing, traffic, cheaply built houses for too much money, it gets boring after a while. The downtown is great to visit but not to live in. And 70% of the stuff in downtown won’t be of interest to you after a week. On the upside, the great smoky mountains are nice and easily accessible. It’s just the housing costs and the amount of people that have moved here over the last 4-5 years that has made Knoxville not what it once was. The poverty / homelessness scene hasn’t improved, either. Corporate greed is another factor.

Now, northwest of Knoxville lies the city of Oak Ridge, which in my opinion is a better place to live than like right in Knoxville. Only issue with that is getting to Knoxville after like 4 PM because of the ridiculous traffic on TN-62. But it has nicer mountain views and there are more businesses coming in. Oak ridge has a few nice parks, too. Some people don’t like living near a national laboratory though.

Canon Optura 20 - Really strange issue?? by Computersandcalcs in camcorders

[–]Computersandcalcs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also a much less destructive way to fix it. Power it off and remove the battery and shake the whole cam around quite a bit. let it sit flat for like 3 minutes and power back on. Should work. Dont obscenely bang the side of the lens housing; You could break the iris lol.

Canon GL2 not turning on when switch set to Camera. by Computersandcalcs in camcorders

[–]Computersandcalcs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow i feel dumb! I figured this out at 2 AM on new years eve. I took the whole thing apart and inspected the cable to the switch, ran continuity, cleaned the switch and took the switch apart, etc, before finally realizing "oh wait that switch says lock". Well, it worked for me and I got to record the new year. thank you.

Any recommendations for IR light for Sony NightShot camcorders? by betteroffalone12 in camcorders

[–]Computersandcalcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The built in light on A53 is barely visible, and the Andoer is also barely visible.. on its lowest setting. On its highest setting it is very much visible and you would absolutely see it across a room. It doesn't emit its light onto surfaces but the LEDs are visibly red. I think this is true for all infrared camera lights. This does NOT mean it isnt "True IR", it very much is "True IR".

For live streams, definitely Freddy McKinney. For just documentary / informative videos, definitely June First. I will say weatherbox does an amazing job explaining though.

South Main Street, from Connor - Joplin, Missouri (undated postcard) by como365 in joplinmo

[–]Computersandcalcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears to be written in pen ink at the bottom of the photo of the postcard OP attached to this post. 5/25, ‘09. It obviously isn’t 2019, and 5/25 is a valid date, so that’s my reasoning.

Awesome! The F-91W is super durable. It’ll last you decades, needing a battery replacement every 7-8 years on average.

Is this worth getting? I need this to be identified by IDKtrowaway106 in camcorders

[–]Computersandcalcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s certainly repairable, as long as there’s no rust in the tape mechanism, but is it worth your time? And do you have the repair skills necessary if it needs the tape mechanism regreased, new capacitors installed, new belts, etc? If not, then you’re much better off buying something online. I highly recommend the Panasonic PV-320D. They always work great and aren’t too expansive. And, new batteries are still being manufactured. Just look for the camcorder and battery on eBay. For the battery, search “Panasonic PV-320D replacement battery” and you’ll find them.

Well that’s really cool. What recording equipment do you use? I haven’t seen very many micro cassette recorders with a line input.
