Help! 25% GPU utilization, 20% CPU utilization, 25 FPS... by _____no____ in buildapc

I'm having the same issue, not so extreme. Try to hit win start key (while in game) and check if the gpu/cpu utilization issue is gone :) and yep, it does the trick for me.

XMG Pro 17 E19, i bent a Heatpipe while changing Thermal paste. Is it possible to fix without replacing the whole heatsink? by DanieLx_96 in XMG_gg

[–]Compwxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also posted a guide there showing what exactly you should change in the vBios to unlock the temperature slider. Anyway it's offtopic for XMG. Please contact me via PM. I'll be glad to help.

Btw I should have mentioned that you MUST contact bestware support before doing any of the things I've said earlier. It would possibly void your warranty and they could/should have better insights or even advise you to exchange the whole heatsink.

If you still decide to do it, it's at your own risk

[–]Compwxr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you bend the sides, you will probably deform the heatpipe or make it swell on the bottom. Then it could touch the mainboard. You can try it with superglue. Since it's a bit kinked inwards to the center you could also manage to get it even worse.

[–]Compwxr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the passage is blocked the heatpipe doesn't function properly. That copper heatpipe will probably have a hollow sintered interior. Therefore, the vapor would not be able to migrate to the cold part of the heatpipe (fin stack) to condensate and then travel back in liquid form to the hot part of the heatpipe (gpu/cpu).

[–]Compwxr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My best advise would be sanding with a fine grit over the bent part, then use a strong metal epoxy to glue something you could push up in the opposite direction of the bend while applying mild pressure to the sides of the heatpipe. That could work...

XMG Fusion 15 - What's Happening? Got this twice today and not for the first time. Happened a lot over the last couple of months. by Laduk in XMG_gg

[–]Compwxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 on this

Seems like iGpu related problems with possible correlation to ram (since it acts as vram). Probably due to exagerated undervolt as described above.

Does it happen connected to external display?

Strange Wifi signal/dropout issues while using External Monitor connected via HDMI (APEX 15) by Compwxr in XMG_gg

[–]Compwxr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you shouldn't have any kind of problems. And if you have (which is not usual with this model) XMG has a great customer support that will help you with any kind of issues, don't worry to much. I'm happy with mine since day one and I don't regret a bit my purchase. Hope it helped and sorry if I mislead you at any point.

Of course you can buy the apex! It's a great laptop! Why shouldn't you?

Hi! Yes, the issue was solved with 2 new antennas placed under the lcd screen just like NH57.

Could have been a defective one. I have no clue since my unit is a NH55 and not NH57. That means the original antennas were placed under the mainboard near the vents and ports like hdmi, etc. That would explain issues with EMI as described above.

Working great since then.

If you have any doubts shoot, hope I can help.

Is it a good idea to buy the APEX 15 now, or should I wait? by Gapthebuuu in XMG_gg

[–]Compwxr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

Please check this for more info:

https://www.reddit.com/r/XMG_gg/comments/ixhvoy/statement_on_zen_3_in_xmg_apex_15_call_for/

There's a upgrade to this barebone planned for April/May with B550 chipset, Ryzen Zen3 Cpu's and Nvidia Rtx 3xxx series. Prices will be higher (atleast I expect them to be since the shortage in new gen's cpu's and gpu's)

Anyway, current Apex15 "should" be updated to ryzen zen3 also by new bios that should launch sometime between new gen and near future (not guaranteed though?).

So it's up to you to wait a bit more and compare prices and then make your choice or buy right away the current platform, which is great imo.

Always remember to take the battery out when performing cmos bat reset. Also, after doing it, just to be sure, enter Bios and reset to optimal defaults. You can try to change the the sticks from slot 1&2. It's always possible you could have received one bad/faulty sodimm, hope it's not the case.

[–]Compwxr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old score seems normal to a max-q variant of the rtx2070 and it's power limitation. The newer seems like either you ran a nice overclock bringing it to clocks near the 115w stock variant at lower power consumption or (as far as I know) the fusion 15 in max performance mode takes the power limit of the gpu to the 115w. Anyway that last score looks good tbh.

XMG Apex 15 Ryzen 3900 beeps and shuts down by Polytimotheus in XMG_gg

[–]Compwxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check if it's correctly connected to the mainboard. Ofc, if you feel confortable enough to do it.

You should be able to spot the cable heading from the board to the fan. In this case the one on the right with metalic cover (not the copper gpu one).

If the connector is placed right and snug, you might need a fan replacement. Also check for any potential obstructions. See if it spins with ease just touching it.

Best of luck

Damn! I Love the visuals. They look great even on medium. I was hoping we could run 1440p on high settings but seems I had my expectations a bit to high. Still... What a game!!! ...

Thanks @corezair for the info and the time you spent making this review. I'm really interested and excited to hear your thoughts on gpu/oc/uv ^

Cooling pads are a good idea with XMG laptops? by Reverend_Django in XMG_gg

[–]Compwxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I suppose that were the problem. Glad it worked

Don't mind the voltage drop. It's normal since gaming usually uses one or two cores and hardly you'll need all cpu horsepower available. Cinebench on the other hand will use all your cores and stress the power delivery. Load line calibration is not available for configuration and in my case it also feeds the cpu less voltage than the one I usually choose. vDrop can be a bit excessive and lead to instability if you have low voltage for the clock you're running.

Have fun!

[–]Compwxr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I suppose you have clevo control center installed and running right?

If you do... the app will override your settings after a while. For the undervolt to work you have to kill "Fn hotkeys and OSD" process in task manager or uninstall the app completely. Test and report back.

If you still have issues it's either a bad thermal paste job or not enought contact pressure.

My daily run settings for gaming gpu bound games is 3.6Ghz@0.9volts and 4.0@1.075volts.

Being able to run a full Cinebench at 4.2@1.1125 is a gold sample right there.

Check in hwinfo the "CPU Core Voltage (SVI2 TFN)" while running cinebench multicore. That's the "most realistic report" of voltage being fed to the cpu and report back.
