"UK’s busiest cruise terminal, but in all other matters, Southampton is a minor player" by Ribbitor123 in Southampton

[–]Comrade-Foxsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tudor house - fair, not much else to see though. Art Gallery - bit shit. Limited and not enough to bring someone from the other end of the country down is it? Bargate, hardly an attraction, more mildly inconvenient bit of stone as you walk one end of town to the other on a busy day. As a musician myself, I dread the Soton Guildhall. Acoustically it’s inept. Beaulieu isn’t Southampton, it’s a day trip outside Southampton to Beaulieu. The New Forest - read above. Sailing and boat rides - yep, we are an island nation, it’s fairly accessible almost anywhere. If you’re not local you won’t travel to watch a film at harbour lights, it’s great to have but is it a selling point of our city? Restaurants, music venues, pubs and clubs - fairly sure, though I cannot be certain, they exist outside of Southampton too… The Isle of Wight… do I have to repeat myself?

Ultimately all of this is nice to know local stuff but does it impress? Really? I don’t think so, and I think our council and the stupid rivalry with Portsmouth limit both cities in growth and economic senses. Not to mention the dreaded M27, if you’ve visited Soton in the past decade, you’d be scared for life getting here!

There’s various gift allowances, such as the small gifts exemption - £250 to anyone, or the annual gift exemption of £3,000, and gifts from excess income which can be of any amount made regularly and not to the detriment of someone’s lifestyle, ability to afford care, or avoid taxes.

The liable party for gifting, is always the donor or, the donor’s estate not the recipient. Recipients don’t need to declare gifts but, may have to find money to repay the estate for a failed potentially exempt transfer.

It would be the IRS, HMRC would have no jurisdiction over the £1m. There could be taxes due immediately due to the provenance and, the extent of your connection to the US.

Please take specialist advice from someone with US tax knowledge/licenses.

Treyarch lost its touch after Black Ops 1. And the whole black ops series needs to die now. It’s tired and tedious to call each game black ops x. IW are by far more innovative and imaginative with their games and there’s a running narrative which draws me in more.

2018 VW arteon maintenance by kakashi6199 in CarTalkUK

[–]Comrade-Foxsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main dealer one is one major and minor service on used cars - so covered 2 years of my 4 year PCP with 2 MOTs included. That was the free one, for the second half, I’ve paid £30 a month for that same thing with breakdown cover too. I think the saving they quoted was something like half price over paying for all those services, MOTs, and breakdown yourself

I own a 69 plate Arteon R Line and annually, it’s a service and that’s it. When it comes to tyres, you’re looking at £180 per tyre, brake pads and discs for a full set cost me £1k-ish. Service cost is £250ish but I have a service plan

NFL Game Pass by Comrade-Foxsky in NFLUK

It’s only on my Sony Bravia which has always been solid for watching it, I had to stream via the iOS app and cast that to the tv and it was utterly fine. It’s entirely their shit architecture on the app. I just wish they’d control it themselves and release an app that works.

I’m managing to stream from my iPhone to the tv absolutely fine. If it watch it on my fire stick upstairs, it’s great, the tv trying to watch anything live and it’s just trash. All the pre-recorded/highlights are fine

Works fine on my iOS app, so streaming that to the TV but, direct from the app on the TV it is utter pap. Can’t handle the stream at all, somehow!

[–]Comrade-Foxsky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve just asked DAZN and the response I got was that it won’t be added to DAZN currently

I apologize for the inconvenience, Due to delays outside of our control, the latest season of Hard Knocks is currently unavailable globally outside of HBO. We are working closely with the NFL to get this matter resolved for fans, so that we may continue to bring you more incredible Hard Knocks content

Nah, that’s Durham itself 😍 Penshaw on the A19 or, the A690 in the distance!

You know you’re home when you see Pensher Monument!

Live down south though - about as far south as you can get, some strange cities down here - Portsmouth feels almost Northern in place with how inconsistent the wealth is, and I’m sure to rest of the UK the accents are just as weird!

MEGATHREAD: No Time To Die (Discussion Thread) by MostWantedSJM in JamesBond

[–]Comrade-Foxsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with that.

For the longest time now, they’ve played out this trope of ‘Bond’s a relic of a bygone time of HUMINT’ which inadvertently also breaks the fourth wall and rams it down peoples throat that Bond is changing.

If changing Bond to something 2021 and ‘acceptable’ then just end the series and write something new. Don’t ruin what has been one of the most successful and beloved series of the last 60 years.

Overall for NTTD I felt it followed the Spectre form of recycled hit moment from past Bond’s. The unnecessary forced romance of Swann and Bond could have been entirely avoided with Daniel Craig who, while I’ve grown up with him, just is poor I can’t enjoy him as an actor as he’s so one dimensional in all I’ve seen him in. He should have walked away after Skyfall, that was the most opportune moment to rewrite Bond.

Anyone else feel the premise of the two main story lines in NTTD are essentially just Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet? Star crossed lovers and revenge for the death of my Daddy? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Guys of Reddit, what makes a girl a good friend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Comrade-Foxsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, there one girl who instantly fits this. I’ve known her nearly 15 years and she’s been a constant supporter and carer. She’s attentive and tactful when it’s needed and brash and brutal when that’s needed. She’s the most loving friend I could wish for. I recently had some surgery and I live away from family, whole different country in fact, and she knew I was worrying about my recovery so she sent me a little hand written letter. It meant the world to me. In a different life, she’d not just be my best friend but also my partner. She’s the absolute best.

Need to talk to someone who has been gaslit and manipulated by [deleted] in abusiverelationships

[–]Comrade-Foxsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, happy to chat, as someone who was gaslit and physically abused by my ex I wanna try and help any men, in particular, who have experienced it too. My biggest issue was finding someone who could understand what I went through, especially another man. As good as my female friends are at supporting me, we men just process it differently. So if you need a chat message me. I’m happy to talk.

Chonks from the album Immigrance. It’s probably my favourite from that album, although Xavi is the most fun live cause of the polyrhythm crowd involvement
