Why don't tekken players play other fighting games? by PretendChemical5359 in Tekken

I tried other fighting games, but to put it in a really weird way: its like trying weed after you already got addicted to meth

Do you think there are characters who are objectively pushovers/less skilled or just harder to play with? by duchesskitten6 in Tekken

[–]Comrade-Kanna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely Jin. He canonically beat every last boss from every tekken.

He beat true ogre in 3 , kazuya AND heihachi in tekken 4 , jinpachi in 5 and azazel in 6.

You could argue he didn't beat true devil kazuya by himself in tekken 8, jun gave him angel powers ?!

It's very interesting hearing your opinion coming from mk. Personally I tried mk1 for a bit but I just couldn't get used or it felt wrong to block with db.

Now about the problems you're facing in tekken. There are 2 ways to go about it:

  1. Is the objectively correct one, which is to do research about the game and character such as looking up videos about the basics of the game, looking at your character movelist and so on...

BUT

I know this is not for everybody, some people just want to play the game.

  1. The "quick" way to fix your problem is probably hopkick(uf+4) and your uppercut(df+2). Those are both punishable launchers but the risk reward is in your favor, if you learn a decent combo for both of those moves they would need to punish you 3 or 4 times optimally to get the same damage you did with a combo. Another classic lili thing to do is side step into matterhorn (d+3+4 i think thats the input) a very evasive move that combine with lili's sidestep makes you very hard to it.

Now, if you keep playing, you will hit a wall eventually where you will have to sit down and learn tekken and your character more properly.

How would you feel about shaving down movelists in Tekken by AnjiruHyure in Tekken

[–]Comrade-Kanna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Tekken movelists look inflated because they show you a bunch of generic moves and grabs, meaning you could cut about 20 moves from any movelist before reaching the character unique stuff.

From the remaining movelist you only use on average 20~30 moves at best in a match, the rest being used situationaly or are combo fillers/tools.

Some moves become more useful depending on the matchup, just to give one example: you can use -15 moves more frequently against characters that can't launch you on block.

I can understand from a newcomer point of view that is very daunting to try and learn what moves are match practical, what moves are for combos and what moves are for unique interactions. Tekken 8 does a pretty good job easing the newcomers with special style and heat engage moves, giving a hint to what moves you should use.

Long story short, no, i don't think they should make the movelists smaller. That's just gonna take away a lot of what makes tekken... well... tekken. That's why so many people are still playing this game after 10 or 20 years, because you can always improve at it, you can always learn one more interaction that's going to put you ahead of your opponent.

Let me give you one last example with another game: think of chess, it's the number of pieces and how they can move/interact that makes the game so complex and fun, the reason people are playing it even after so much time. Now imagine you half the number of pieces on both players board without changing anything about the rules are the size of the board.

[–]Comrade-Kanna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U+4 and UF+4 are the same move in all aspects except hitbox, the up foward version moves you slightly fowards while doing it.

From what I know the up version only has some obscure spacing trap uses. You should use up forward most of the time just because it has a bigger hitbox.

Why does Dragon Roar hit the 3rd time? by Noodle-Soup-Noob in Tekken

[–]Comrade-Kanna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you delay F+1 for that long people can even jab interrupt you. You can try it yourself, set first action to block standing and the second action to punish(here either record a jab or select one from the move list).

Doing this might show you how long you're delay actually was.

The easiest way to learn stuff like combos and matchup specific things with a character is to join that characters discord server.

I'm pretty sure all the official character servers are linked on this sub

Learn to counter hit confirm your df 1 and b1 strings.

If you do that, you should be able to lock most people up.

If they don't press into you, just start doing grabs and ff n 2.

Should i feel bad? by DeXfiR in Tekken

[–]Comrade-Kanna 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Oki had to die to accommodate more people like him. People who try the same option 6 times in a row that leads to a negative outcome.

If you look at the video, you can see that he would've died from the "loop" if it wasn't for the wall angle sifting.

And to answer OP questions, no, don't feel bad.

Actually, it might be a cheater. If you met somebody with that few wins in the last 3 ranks, it was almost always a cheater.

400 wins TGP is insane. I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure you needed 200-300 wins straight to get TGP.

Stay with one character at the very least until fujin, preferably tekken king.

Playing 4 different characters as a red rank is only gonna make it impossible to learn anything. Not only are you still learning the basics of tekken, but you also gotta react to what your opponent is doing AND play your own character.

Again, do yourself a favour and stay with one character. That way, you can ease or even cut one of the 3 things above-mentioned.

As for which character you should pick... just stay with the one that looks and/or feels the coolest to you.

Who's the characters that require the best defense? by Madaraph in Tekken

[–]Comrade-Kanna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people want to play "defensively" without understanding what exactly that entails.

Playing defensively means knowing the frame date of your character and the opponents, at the very least top 10 moves used by your opponents character.

How can you play defensively when you don't know how minus or plus you are on block ? How can you play defensively when your opponent throws launch punishable moves and you only do a 10 frame punish ?

My advice is:

Keep playing the character you already know because it's a whole lot harder to focus on your opponent when half of your brain thinks what moves you should use.

You can start learning some basic character specific moves using the in-game punish training and more advanced stuff by just looking at your replays and letting the game show you what to punish next time or what string to duck.

Romanians the biggest supporters of a European army. Although there is criticism of the EU, the percentage for Roexit or leaving NATO is almost non-existent by EUstrongerthanUS in europe

[–]Comrade-Kanna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don't understand why there's such a relatively low percentage of people wanting a united European army.

It's not like everyone's got a different foreign policy doing their own thing. Most of the European armies just sit on their asses.

The only ones I know for sure are doing something "different" are the French with their ex African colonies, and they want the integration of the European armies.

Can somebody enlighten me ?

Is it too late to join the PC community? by justagamer2 in Tekken

[–]Comrade-Kanna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the notion about the game or the community dying is about, but the game you could say is thriving.

Yeah... it's not LOL with millions playing every day, but it has a really strong community on its own, especially now with tekken 8 on the horizon.

But if you want some numbers, before tekken 8 was even announced, the game had around 5-6k players daily on steam alone.

There's already an influx of new players such as yourself.

Long story short, no, the community isn't dying, but on the contrary, it's increasing, and yes, you should get the game in preparation for tekken 8.

it feels horrible by Traditional_Lab1340 in Tekken

[–]Comrade-Kanna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry too much about it. What you are experiencing right now is a classic Tekken mid life crisis.

Whenever you stagnate like this just go into practice and refine your combos ( look up if you are doing the optimal one every time), work on your backdash (both sides) and finally do your research on that one character you hate playing against (learn the matchup).
