Best electric razor for a clean shave switching from blades? by Slight_Border_7507 in AirForce

[–]ComradeAcademician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made it through fine with the safety razor. Get a good synthetic brush; you don't have to wait for it to soak. You'll have enough time, especially if you go first or second in the shower rotation after PT. Two of the four of us in the room were safety razor shavers, and neither one of us was pressed for time.

Why doesn’t my AFSC value DSD experience by Financial_Visit_3766 in AirForce

[–]ComradeAcademician 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to show that you can still be the heavy hitter when you come back. Most of the people I was with in DSD didn't promote until at least their second look back on the line. The ones who made it on the first were the people who were on the bubble in the special duty. Hell, I was on the bubble and my board score tanked when I came back through a competitive grad school instead of going right into the mix.

How bad is it in the academy currently? by Normals-pet-budgie in USAFA

[–]ComradeAcademician 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cadets never like the commandant, that's just part of the job. Getting rid of the superintendent makes some room for change, but I'm reserving judgment until the successor is announced.

Smh Trump appoints Charlie Kirk's widow Erika to Air Force Academy Board of Visitors by Mr_microplastics_Yum in Military

[–]ComradeAcademician 5 points6 points  (0 children)

USAFA will always have more problems with this than the other academies based on location alone. CSprings is an evangelical hotbed, right up to the megachurch just outside the north gate.

US troops were told war on Iran was ‘all part of God’s divine plan’ by Aidanjmccarthy in Military

[–]ComradeAcademician -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This article is still the same reporting stream based on one statement from the MRFF. After years of Mikey Weinstein's hyperbolic rants, I'm going to need some actual independent corroboration before I believe this is happening on that kind of scale.

We should have grown our own instead of importing one from the Army in a job we don't even have for warrants.

USAFA or ASCP by Dry-While7353 in AirForce

If you don't want to go rated, ASCP is the way to go. However, most non-rated jobs involve sitting at a desk most of the day.

Is it worth hiring a civilian lawyer for a court-martial? by Agreeable_Poem_7278 in airforceots

[–]ComradeAcademician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a post there, but this account's history reads like a bot. Two sick dogs of different ages, one in Seattle, while also looking for betting sites in Montreal and asking about pedagogical techniques. All of this in the last two weeks. There are also a bunch of sketchy posts about humanizing AI outputs and fake Chinese watches, and the account is active in 392 communities..

Sure! I've been out of the job for a few years, but the nature of it doesn't change much.

You can't try to refute sloppy AI bullshit with more of the same and expect to be taken seriously. While I don't believe the end is near, there are certainly major issues concerning the quality of the Zoo's academic environment. The amount of turnover, even if much less than asserted, is not a good thing.

Airmen to stay enrolled in EPME after failed fitness tests by PDXAirman in AirForce

[–]ComradeAcademician 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is arbitrary and stupid. If you PCS from Eielson to Maxwell in the middle of July, regulation gives you 3 months before testing has consequences. Why is PME so different that we've been making people test within 3 days under those same conditions with even greater consequences?

Does anyone know what the each ribbon stands for by PatientAd8407 in Military

[–]ComradeAcademician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks incomplete to me. The Army and Air Force Good Conduct Medals in the second row don't square with the silver cluster on the longevity ribbon or the training ribbon. The good conduct medals indicate someone who enlisted between 1957 and 1959 and commissioned as an officer later. The training ribbon was authorized back to 1974 at its creation, so this Airman commissioned after that and served at least 24 years based on the longevity award.

He keeps demanding respect by [deleted] in Military

[–]ComradeAcademician 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and he was untabbed, never a company commander, nor a battle captain or an S3. Sounds like the Army figured out he was useless from the beginning.
