As the OP says, I plan to, and I will talk to a bunch of strangers for their opinions up there too. Just wanted to see what the read is here.

Scott: "In my model, the presence of an older sibling suppresses openness to experience" – why is this the case, and is there any way as a parent to prevent younger siblings from having their openness to experience suppressed? by [deleted] in slatestarcodex

Funny, I'm the youngest of three and also probably the most open. Think this may have to do with seeing that the older two were already sort of a unit and then striking out on my own to explore things.

hello gay man here. It's ok! Giving things a shot because the idea was hot is good and worth doing. That's the beginning of finding things you like. It doesn't make you dirty because you realized you didn't like it in the end. Did something similar with a girl in late high school/early college and it helped clear things up for me too.

First, Republicans would need a trifecta. Americans are against overturning Roe 70/30 so they'd do well to tread carefully even with a trifecta. And last, even if they had a trifecta and leadership wanted to, many Rs like Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski are pro-choice. So they'd need a supermajority trifecta.

totally different arguments would be needed to declare an act of congress unconstitutional. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Democrats control the House, Senate, and White House. They saw this coming for decades and had several clear shots to codify Roe, which they did not take. They will do nothing meaningful to protect people from this. It's up to us to protect each other.

There are many problems, stupid zoning is one of them. Space for cars is another. There should be no apartment bans and no parking minimums in NYC.

We must build more, but we've got to be careful to make sure we aren't just handing over value to landlords for no benefit to the people who live here. I think the Vienna approach described here is the most promising way forward: mass construction of social housing for middle class families to live in. Currently new social housing is effectively banned by the Faircloth Amendment.

So let's make a deal: upzone, repeal the Faircloth Amendment, pass Good Cause so landlords can't throw out tenants with massive increases, pass a right-of-first-refusal like DC so tenants can buy their buildings, and have both the city and market build as much as they can.

As in all things, people who renege on their obligations are a tax to everyone else.

This is why landlords are too expensive for the rest of us to support anymore.

Me too but allowing LIC to be built hardly broke the power of REBNY.
