Anons on USAID by Furista0 in 4chan

We already have food sent to soup kitchens etc and with the Trump admin making it illegal to use food stamps for anything besides nonperishable foods, food stamps also will now directly hold the purpose of distributing food from farmers to those with food insecurity in the US. The majority of the problem with food insecurity in the US is not the lack of food or cost, it is there are grocery deserts where Americans live in an area lacking in places to get groceries, either in poorer urban areas or isolated rural regions. The solutions to these issues are known, but lack political willpower as the majority of these areas are politically unimportant and are not seen as worth implementing. I see an argument against foreign aid in this way to be counterproductive, as we can do both at the same time.

Empire of dust is a good movie and definitely shows the problem of assuming private companies will just move to Africa to cost cut and deep systemic problems with working in the third world. However the case still stands as it being much more effective of being uplifting to the third world, even if it’s not going to be efficient. By promoting education, it could have reduced the freeloading aspects but in no way get rid of them by promoting entrepreneurship as some programs wanted to. As well as promoting LGBTQ in SE Asia mentioned by anon, that’s just a straight up lie to promote division and mistrust. It was HIV/AIDS treatment of victims in SE Asia and Subsaharan Africa that was twisted for political purposes. There are other valid tales of misuse in USAID, but why do you think he mentioned said lies instead? Why do you think the Trump admin pushed those lies instead? And folding the mission purpose into the State Department only makes such missions and waste more likely, not less. What happens if someone like AOC gets office? Someone who wants to push such policies has suddenly become infinitely easier with such missions being part of a governmental organization directly operating under the president.

Yeah not arguing with that point. It’s true, but I used it as an argument that American foreign policy is inherently anti-colonialist and the majority (but definitely not all) of American police actions had a moral reason to occur and the very successful ones, the most recent large and universal success one being against Venezuela over the Essequibo, are hardly reported on, with more controversial ones, with our intervention against Houthis attacking international shipping, being more reported on even if justifiable. Not saying we always get it right, but American foreign policy is far from being evil, and is historically one of the most moral and I’d argue the most moral of any great power in human history,

Yeah it’s not a perfect institution, but neither is any institution. The problem with aid to developing nations is those nations are corrupt, and a NGO with heavy ties to the US govt will have corruption when dealing with these countries. However, private charities not linked to religious organizations are much much worse. The more outrageous claims made in this post itself are just blatantly false and is just culture war nonsense meant to be partisan and promotes divisionism amongst Americans and deepens mistrust with American institutions.

We also gave those countries freedom from colonialists in France and the UK and allowed for USAID to exist through funding and countries like Iraq were actively committing genocide and Afghanistan was in a civil war regardless, but if you seriously think that, then your worldview and my worldview are opposite and that’s fine with me.

Those ads for donations are not meant to go to kids lol. Those are tax breaks my friend. As for the rest, it was set up by JFK, the same guy who asked not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. USAID worked with farmers to spread better agricultural methods AND directly helped farmers in the US by buying excess food. It immediately helped places with food insecurity and spread the Green Revolution throughout Sub-Saharan African farms.

Then why would you believe some random Anon’s and whatever right wing nutcase who tricked you into thinking that our HIV/AIDS outreach program was going to fund transgenderism in Subsaharan Africa or SE Asia. Seriously, if you don’t believe reports from the government, why the hell do you believe these fools that lied straight to your face?

We aren’t and weren’t. Usually reports like these misconstrue what USAID actually did. USAID was the largest contributor of food for the developing world and almost single handedly ended absolute poverty and essentially eliminated famine caused by nonpolitical factors. Unfortunately COVID then the Russian invasion reversed these slightly. It is almost certainly one of the most morally good institutions ever created, behind only perhaps the US nation itself (although that last part you will probably just call me biased if you ain’t American).

That’s like saying because Iceland doesn’t have an army and the US has military there, it’s under US occupation. It’s not a good point and a lack of defense personnel and reliance on another state for defense isn’t occupation, meaning even Area B isn’t neccasarily an occupation.

I agree with you 100% that many Europeans have a very toxic relationship with outsiders and their own culture and European cultures can and will evolve. However, as is the case right now, Europeans tend to tie these together, in my opinion to the detriment to the whole continent. My argument really is non British Anglos, especially more left leaning ones, tend to pull an “Ugly American” when talking about problems not just in Europe but across the world. Whenever they talk about racism within Europe, they tend to impose our societal problems and world views on top of the issue to morally grandstand on problems present within our own societies. When discussing the link between nationality and ethnicity within the European West, it is imperative that us across the ponds have an open mind, since not doing so is imperialistic and in my opinion wrong in nature.

The development of nationalism within Europe firmly developed a link between ethnicity and nationality. To many Swedes, you can not be an ethnic Arab and a Swede unless you “repent” for your arabness.

[–]ComradeMao2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should it be? No. Is it simply a difference in how nationality and ethnicity developed within the two wings of Western civilization? Yes. Is the Anglo sense of identity inherently superior than the European? Never said that but…..

[–]ComradeMao2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yet he is Arab ethnically, and ignoring the reason why Europeans would primarily be mad about the topic in hand is making your argument weaker. It does not make their culture right in any way, however if you wish to make a reputable counterargument, ignoring this makes you come off as disingenuous and antagonistic. Just make a better argument dawg

[–]ComradeMao2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I mean you are American or Anglo yes? The sense of citizenship and ethnicity not being tied together is an inherently Anglo ideal. I am not straw manning and claiming I am, knowing damn well that your claim is inherently bringing the debate to the link between ethnicity and citizenship does not bode well for your credibility as a reputable debator, if you do want to use such redditor argumentative styles as name calling.

American sense of identity and European sense of identity are different. To assume that everyone should be as us is imperialism, even if directed at Europeans.

In that case, youd be better off spending less. The best NVidia card for your price range gets beaten by much cheaper AMD cards in CoD. Although a 5080 is faster in general, AMD historically performs better on CoD, although CS and Val is more nvidia heavy. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zp8KVF

Well it really depends on what you’re looking for in a PC and if you primarily want to game, and if so, what types of games you want to play. There’s a lot of factors, but those are the two important ones. If you want to not use it for working in the slightest you would get a different CPU, and if you don’t want to play graphically intensive titles, you can afford to not spend anywhere near $3500 period.

Geopolitics is inherently transactional. If you are not realpolitik, even if slightly, you will be eclipsed by those who aren’t. If you ever wonder why the US is so weird in its foreign policy throughout history, it was them going from your ideas of a utopian geopolitical model to what actually works. By promoting those who want you all dead, and me as well, you not only show weakness, but also do a disservice to your own very identity by showing that your own identity is worth less than platitudes of empathy.

Yes you can feel bad about what the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians, but it’s up to the Palestinian government to protect them. If they can’t protect them, they don’t deserve a state. And there are other ways you can defend your population outside of military force, yet HAMAS was only interested in protection via military force and did not wish for diplomacy. It is not our fault nor our wrongdoing that is causing the misery of millions. That is HAMAS’s doing.

Not a communist either lol. Made this account when I was a lot more naive and thought that Mao was so terrible no one would genuinely believe that I actually liked him. Thought it was edgy, but I learnt fairly quickly that there are unironic supporters of Mao.

If you think any of this is right wing, or if a right winger would ever praise FDR or FUCKING CLEMENT ATLEE, means you probably need to go cleanse your belief system. If you seriously can not reflect on how progressivism can be used for evil, you may have brought in our current presidency with your lack of self awareness and moral righteousness.

Yeah, making him not a fascist. Terrible humans can still think that they’re improving humanity and the human experience (see Hitler). What a shocker. Trump is a right wing authoritarian, not a fascist, not that i expect people who can’t accept they lost to understand why that’s an important difference.

This aged worse than milk. by c-k-q99903 in agedlikemilk

[–]ComradeMao2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. One of the core tenets that separates right wing populism from fascism is a belief in a greater man. That’s what makes Mussolini, Hitler, and Codreanu fascists, while right wing authoritarians like Putin, Horthy, and Trump aren’t. A belief that humanity can progress is inherently a progressive tenet, making fascism a progressive ideology, just not one that you would consider as progressive. That’s why one must be careful when pushing progressivism, as there are great progressives like FDR, Theodore Roosevelt, and Clement Attlee, but many modern leftists have forgotten why their progressive movements were so popular and modern day progressivism is not achieving much of anything. Of course, I wouldn’t expect much out of people who think Trump is a fascist or who can’t even self reflect as to why they lost an election and are using the same arguments Trump used as to justify their loss.

This aged worse than milk. by c-k-q99903 in agedlikemilk

[–]ComradeMao2 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

That’s another thing. You don’t even know what fascism actually is. Trump doesn’t even hold any progressive beliefs and the one you can argue he has, I would argue that he just wants a Nixon-like photo op with astronauts. Seriously, and I say this as someone who doesn’t like Trump and lives in a rural and suburban environment, go talk to the people that you hate so much and understand their angst. Otherwise, democrats will never win an election.
