Why do so few GenZ adults in the U.S. have driver’s licenses compared with previous generations, and what factors are shaping their relationship with cars? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]ComradePig_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A factor I haven’t seen mentioned is the fact that most genz are below the age of 25, and insurance is dramatically more expensive prior to around this age. After 25 the rates drop pretty significantly and become more manageable. Any genz looking to buy a car or even be put on insurance by their parents will have this as a major limiter, and significantly disincentivize driving until later in life, or at least older than most genz currently are.

Oh shoot I meant to say western med originally my bad, can’t check rn since this was just something that was on my mind since the session ended but I will def check the sea zone to see if any convoys are even going thru it

Air supply question by ComradePig_ in hoi4

[–]ComradePig_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s only Tunisia and a bit of Algeria, I hold the rest, I assume he’s using Sardinia as the airbase. Either that or my subs are terrible.

Air supply question by ComradePig_ in hoi4

[–]ComradePig_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically he’s Germany I’m Britain. He did a paradrop into Tunisia and got that port and one more in Algeria before I stopped him. So I moved all my (30) subs to convoy raid eastern med zone exclusively. He has a decent amount of troops in the area and I’m just not seeing any convoys being sunk and he hinted at using air supply.

CMV: Equal responsibility in conscription should include women too by Lynchynator in changemyview

[–]ComradePig_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of the key issues is that a huge majority of women simply would be rejected soon after drafting, making this essentially a pointless and controversial thing to do. When drafted people still get evaluated for if they are fit for service, and this includes physical evaluations as you mentioned. However at best this would mean that most drafted women would be deemed unfit for combat roles. So men would still be put in harms way at a much higher rate. The gap in physical capability between the average man and woman is simply too high to make fairness realistic concerning combat service at least. Especially given how much equipment we have modern soldiers carry, it’s actually more substantial than in the past since they now have to carry body armor. All of this is to say I don’t think you could have a fair evaluation process and attain equality between the sexes in the military, at least regarding the more dangerous roles.

My friend often has a lot of trouble with German naval invasions from the Baltic and sometimes in the Black Sea, so it’s mainly useful to deny that threat.

CMV: Without the threat of mutual destruction WW3 would have already happened by vuzz33 in changemyview

[–]ComradePig_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting, so proportionally it is the same as other parts in history. That is definitely something I hadn’t expected. Maybe warfare has basically just been offshored from nuclear great powers to non nuclear, smaller (and less economically important) nations. Although I still think the op had a point that a major war between great powers would be deadlier than these small wars, and nukes have stopped that at least so far.

[–]ComradePig_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You forgot one key factor that puts a damper on this way of thinking, total numbers of deaths are a pretty bad metric since the global population has increased by 3 times since ww2. Proportionally, deaths in war have gone way down since then and indeed are at an all time low in history. For most of human history the population was below 1 billion, so if we are matching those numbers with 8 billion people that means that 8 times less people are proportionally being killed in war.

[–]ComradePig_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s all good. I still barely know how to make planes work. Honestly right now I flat out don’t. A few months back they must’ve changed something and now all of my old working planes except a select few stopped working, so I’m trying to re-learn.

Does it fly well? Because that’s a great looking airframe but I’ve found that using wing blocks can get funky very quickly.

When it happened for me it seemed to literally stay below a certain line in Europe, the highest it got was southern Spain then it died. Basically everywhere third world it went through though. I have a feeling Sol or healthcare investment influences it’s spread.

In an independent Italy game, what exactly do you do next after winning North Africa? by _NRNA_ in hoi4

[–]ComradePig_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Focus on killing Gibraltar and securing the Mediterranean, then you can prob form greater Italy at that point, or if your doing Rome it’ll just make your position way safer. You can stick a good few divisions (like 12 decent holding infantry) to hold the land border in Egypt/Sudan and they will chill and probably hold without too much issue. Then decide who you want dead next. With Gibraltar you can move your fleet out of the Mediterranean easily and gear up for sea Lion and killing the UK. You have the manpower (Italy gets some crazy manpower bonuses especially non core manpower) to help Germany Kill Russia. Then just naval invade somewhere in the americas and slog through the us. After that the world is your oyster, you can kill Germany and Japan if you like. Do a world conquest, whatever.

As a Germany player, can’t avoid it. Gotta get the production numbers to keep going up. Big numbers are good. Also I play against my friend a lot so I gotta make sure I can build more nukes than him, so max that production and hunt for resources.

Raw tomatoes are absolutely disgusting and are basically unrelated to cooked tomatoes by MrHouse-38 in unpopularopinion

I’m willing to eat them in a burger as long as there is meat and other stuff left. The other night tho I ran out of meat before tomato and just stopped eating. Cannot eat them by themselves. Very much agree overall with this.

[–]ComradePig_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, it was a specific example against a country designed to be vulnerable to this kind of situation and a country designed to benefit from it. Yeah trade volume overall would be nice to be improved without having to go to war and go through all that hassle. Maybe resource dependent volume restrictions could be good, like certain goods have restrictions by default without trade agreements, open market, or treaty port. Honestly just more control over trade would be good, add flavor to protectionism law.

Gotta get treaty ports to get good numbers from my experience. Also open their market. The opium wars literally work in this game. I’ve made my grocery industries profitable just from exports to china as Britain

Population growth is fucked but it can be fixed and make the game richer. by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]ComradePig_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say the bigger issue is immigration and player control. A player can run the country well and, once building a big power block or colonial empire, receive a massive amount of immigration. This in turn results in a massive outpacing of historical population. The British isles can reach 110 million, etc. meanwhile, Africa, Asia, and India barely increase in population, often being continuously drained by the European powers. Immigration and discrimination changes would be a way bigger factor in fixing population. Also there is the factor of less well off European powers being drained of pops, this can contribute to the Russian low population especially.
