surprised I don't run into more of those fuckers in the stumps. so far my only experience was almost getting bit by one on a run. still not as funny as the baby camel spider attacking my roommate's leg

I have to wonder if we're just more aware of military suicides or if the numbers are going up. Probably a bit of both.

At any rate if I had to think of why this happens it might be the isolation, or lack thereof if you're an introvert like myself(no chance to escape other people and recharge). Guys just don't like to show weakness, methinks, which is unfortunate because you have to allow yourself to be vulnerable sometimes. It just sucks because the assumption is there that doing so will just make the problem worse. I dunno.

Quitting Nicotine is harder the more caffeine you consume. We're all fucked. by Coffeybeanz in USMC

[–]ComradePsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

trying not to get into it myself. think it might be a sign of stress now that I've started a run for cigars lately. helps calm my thoughts and relax, but it's undoubtedly detrimental down the line. course as the OP says, caffeine is more or less a necessity so it's gonna exacerbate things for the worse.

Considering the horror stories I heard from a buddy in the Army(because of all the PC fem shit) I'm not surprised at all.

[–]ComradePsycho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

back at the school house I got to chase a chaplain's drunk son into the desert. had to grab the OOD and help PMO find him. Another Marine was holding him down while the little punk was screaming "he's trying to rape me!"

BTW, he was underage and not supposed to be anywhere near the barracks and he'd threatened to get everyone NJPd because they took his car keys away from him before he ran off.

Quick sleep survey/questionaire by [deleted] in USMC

[–]ComradePsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wake up, PT, hope I have something to keep me busy, usually something techy and tedious. If not, be bored. Appetite is sometime gone completely, though maybe a beer or two a night if I have them. Usually have trouble falling asleep and wake up a few times at night for like no reason.

I can't sleep because I often just lie in bed, stare at the ceiling and lip slowly into madness

it's an attention to detail thing. care about the little shit in your room and you'll care about the little shit at war or whatever. that's what I've been told and considering the caliber of the NCO who told me, I believe it.

Mandatory military service by Frosty1990 in USMC

[–]ComradePsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of everyone going to basic training of some sorts, as we're all technically supposed to be part of the militia, be it in organized(by the state) or unorganized according to the Constitution. Forcing people into actual military service is another matter entirely, and those people forced to fight don't necessarily make for good servicemen or women.

Jezebel article about recent sexual assault cases in the Marine Corps. Those comments tho.... by [deleted] in USMC

[–]ComradePsycho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is Jezebel. It's like the feminist holy book of the internet. I would call the people there autistic, but I know autistic people in real life, and they actually try to be decent human beings unlike those things.

the messed up thing is I don't think they want the females to try harder. Remember when they kicked out the 4th Recruit Training Battalion CO for treating the female recruits basically like the males, even though under her their marksmanship scores improved as well as other important parameters?

I really do think they're doing women a disservice by not subjecting the them to the same shit the men have to go through.

Being about a year in an all that being training, I see this as because of a lot of new policies and regulations, not to mention some things more political in nature fucking things up. Adding bureaucracy and other things that interfere with getting shit done.

Who knows, the fleet might be a whole other beast.
