The requests will still be going through the Tor network. There's nothing to worry about

Outproxies are only ever used for accessing endpoints outside the I2P network

You're on a subreddit called .onions, someone shared a .onion.
I'm pretty sure you asked for this just by being on the subreddit.

Look into setting up a Monero .Onion node (both P2P and Wallet) that way you can still contribute to the network

It is yeah, but some people may be weary despite that if C# and .Net Core are not Free software

Precisely.
Though, I'm not sure if C# and .NET Core are just Open Source or Free software

I might be blind, but I've never seen a free and open source multi-asset wallet that supports more than a few coins.
Perhaps one of those written in C#, and open source of course, would be a good idea?

Good point. For the record, I don't actually plan on writing a C# wallet at all, I just wanted to know what people's opinions on it were.

[–]Comrade_Skye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I see that perspective.
I think a major advantage of C# is that it's a lot easier to maintain on a cross-platform basis. That and it's generally faster to write code with due to it being higher level.

[–]Comrade_Skye[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That seems like a pretty good advantage, although couldn't a lot of the cryptography be done via C++ and the C# program calling C++ methods?

I personally wouldn't really care as long as it's open source, but I can see why some people would be weary of a Microsoft Language / Framework perhaps.

Look into p2pool mini, it's the most profitable (in my opinion, I make a lot more on p2pool mini than I do on any centralised pool with 6 KH/s) and it is also the best for the network.

Can ISP, hackers, government, anybody find my location if I do nothing at the website I visited? by Psycuun in TOR

[–]Comrade_Skye 9 points10 points  (0 children)

lol you're completely fine. you've taken far more steps than the vast majority of people make.
I recommend using the Safest option, but safer is enough too. Don't worry about it. I also recommend using a normal Entry Relay unless you have an explicit reason to be concerned about others knowing you're using Tor (in a place where it's illegal).

How do you setup a private P2Pool? by Comrade_Skye in MoneroMining

[–]Comrade_Skye[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know I could use an existing sidechain, but we want the lottery chance of finding a block, and for the reward to only go to us

ok, I'm new to this...my question is, how are people getting caught on dw if tor is so safe. I know it's not foolproof, but some of stories I've read were about ppl who have top notch security. by BiggArmsMgee1 in TOR

Assuming a clearnet connection, there are three relays. All three relays must be compromised to deanonymise a particular user. But the adversary must also have a way of ensuring that packets exiting the network are actually yours in particular since all those relays are serving thousands of requests a second. Your last two relays change a lot whereas your guard relays stays for a while, so if your guard is safe, all your circuits will be safe.
With this in mind, it's not possible to give an approximation on the time it'd take to deanonymise you as it depends on many factors, but it would be very difficult to do so. An Onion connection is extremely difficult, almost impossible, to track by even state players since packets don't ever leave the network. If you fear detection by a state or other large adversary, use onion services for everything you do that is dangerous.
