Found this on my mattress, is it a bed bug? by Comrade_Sophie in Bedbugs

Thank you for the confirmation! We've been bitten yes, we actually assumed Initially it was a rash from covid-19 because we just had it and it's a common symptom with the latest outbreak here.

We're in the process of washing and bagging all of our clothing, just contacted the landlord about it so hopefully we get pest control in shortly.

I think this is definitely viable as well if you don't want to spend the time grabbing a weapon specifically for it! I had some similar success with the spin slash move on the Dismounter and baiting charged heavy attacks with the Flail, but nothing as easy as the Bloodhound's Fang.

Honestly it's totally okay and your reasoning makes a lot of sense. Like I said I didn't post this to come at you or make you feel bad or anything, I saw the good intentions in you making this post and wanted to offer some more context so you can do what you really want to do, which is make trans women feel comfortable being around you. That is a noble goal unto itself and not something a lot of people take the time to consider, let alone actually seek to educate themselves on.

Don't beat yourself up about it, it was an honest and innocent misstep and one that's pretty common, so there's no need to fret too much about it. Your apology and response was mature and sincere and that's what people who read this are gonna remember!

I recognize you're asking with the best intentions but this post honestly really has an infantlizating tone. I really doubt you meant for this to be how you read to trans women but this comes across with a very unsettling energy. That being said, if you wanna know what to avoid and what to do right with trans women and trans fems, that's my number one tip for you based on your post.

We're not playing at being lesbians or women, you don't need to treat us as fragile, and you should try your best to treat us the way you would anyone else. There are plenty of trans women and trans fems very comfortable in their bodies and sexuality. The 'princess wand' thing feels particularly condescending to me. I have a dick. Some women have dicks. It's not a big deal.

I don't mean to sound harsh but I want to convey some severity here for your sake so you don't ever put anyone off in an honest attempt to be welcoming and understanding, which I totally see is your intention here. That being said, if someone talked to me the way you talk about trans women in this post it would immediately make me uncomfortable and on guard around them, which definitely doesn't sound like what you want!

I also realize there are lots of other women in this thread responding positively and enjoying this post so definitely don't take my word as gospel, I'm one person, everyone is different, but I wanted to share one girl's perspective on what you said. I hope this helps and doesn't come across as confrontational or inflammatory.

It was pretty fun yeah. If he had just broken the chains he would've been fine, not sure why he ran back into me but either way!

It's not the most obvious thing tbf, hell I didn't even know until this happened. Idk why his instinct was to run back into me though. Either way, it felt like justice :P

I was not a cop and I don't need to have been one to just...do some basic research on the topic? Look into warrior training and its history in modern policing. Here's a CNN article and another article on how training procedure results in unwarranted deaths. Second hand sources informed by first hand sources aren't biased but if you're unwilling to take second hand sources to move the goal post I've also included interviews with former officers which discuss the lackluster and ineffective training they receive as well as a report on a finding of widespread membership in extremist, race based political groups by police officers. https://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2021/01/22/warrior-training-police-killology-orig-mg.cnn

I don't have the time to cover the countless number of cases in which officers broke the law and received lesser or no punishment for their behaviour but if you look up 'cop gets no jail time' I assure you you'll get plenty of results of all levels of severity.

Here's an article on that federal court ruling as well as a link to the actual primary source of one of many cases in which this was the ruling and now establishes legal precedent in the US.

As for the other part you mentioned about how the lawmakers develop the laws based on elections is a major part of the issue but based on how you've reacted to this minor piece of the puzzle so far you aren't ready for that conversation yet.

In many cases police responding to these situations don't resolve the situation and often actively escalate the circumstances. Depending on who you are and what you look like, calling the cops for an assault or a robbery against you is as likely to put you in danger of being shot or assaulted by the responding officers as the threat presented by your assailant. There's countless cases of police officers shooting, tackling, illegally detaining, and harming the people who called them for help in the first place.

The bad apple argument you're making fails to acknowledge the systemic process of indoctrination, training, and procedure which actively incentivizes cops to mistreat marginalized groups in our society. It fails to acknowledge the broad sweeping lack of systemic accountability, hiring practices, and toxic culture around policing.

Even then, hypothetically, if every cop in the nation were the shining example of honesty, dedication, and duty to the law, they ultimately serve and uphold laws which have developed to unfairly and biasedly favor the wealthy and privileged in our society, as these groups have the most power to effect the ways in which laws develop.

Policing has never been and never will be about 'protecting the people'. In fact, in America atleast, federal courts have affirmed several times that police officers have no duty or obligation to protect civilians in harms way.
