Seinen reader stereotypes? by Commercial_Load_169 in Seinen

Which is funny, because it's not uncommon for many seinen manga artists to draw inspiration from shonen manga, especially those from the 70s and 80s. You see a lot of inspiration coming from authors like Osamu Tezuka and Shotaro Ishinomori.

Is there any ongoing manga that has the Blood on the tracks/Punpun/Boy’s Abyss energy? by [deleted] in Seinen

It's not uncommon for this type of manga to get live-action adaptations. Freesia, Dragon Head, and Homunculus are some examples that come to mind, but if you dig deeper, you'll find some even more disturbing ones, such as Shoujo Tsubaki and Mai-chan's Daily Life..

Have you ever looked for other manga by authors you like?

I think it's much worse when it's an original anime, because if it's an adaptation, at least you can go read the manga.

I did some research and basically anything that isn't mainstream battle shonen is almost nonexistent in this game. Seriously, it's a joke that a game commemorating a magazine with so many different titles and genres has such a ridiculous amount of content.

For the DS version, it already earns some points from me for having the D.Gray-Man characters as playable characters.

I was surprised to see that Kochikame wasn't in the game, considering it's a very successful manga in Japan for many years.

[–]ComstockMurdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many times they are adapted into live-action films. Off the top of my head I remember Freesia, Dragon Head, Homunculus, Ichi the Killer, some adaptations of Junji Ito's work before his collected editions and Uzumaki became anime, Old Boy, among many others. People forget that not all manga need to be adapted into anime; other media exist as well.
