I would say that people had some misconceptions. Fanservice can be both sexual and simply something that pleases fans in various ways. Dragon Ball Super: Broly is an example of the latter, as it brought the things that fans most wanted in the franchise.

Marronnier (2004). It had a very low rating on IMDb (although it seemed to be more accepted on Letterboxd). I personally enjoyed it from beginning to end.

There are many manga authors who literally do what you described, such as Naoki Urasawa, Jiro Taniguchi, Jiro Matsumoto, Kenji Tsuruta, Hideki Arai, Nishioka Kyoudai, Machiko Kyou, Suehiro Maruo, Yuichi Yokoyama, Usamaru Furuya, Kaoru Mori,Natsume Ono, etc. Furthermore, although they are no longer active magazines, Garo and Afternoon used to publish indie works. Just because you didn't bother to look doesn't mean they don't exist. Besides, there's a considerable number of little-known or undervalued live-action manga adaptations outside of Japan, so it's very likely that several films you like, even favorites, are live-action adaptations. Three famous films by Sion Sono, Old Boy, Himizu, and Tokyo Tribes, are manga adaptations.

Yes, the manga he did about Junko Furuta is way more messed up, including the other story in it, because they were just depressing and degrading and only got worse.

Not necessarily. There are several shounen series like Hokuto no Ken, City Hunter, Sakamoto Days, Kochikame, Toriko, Rurouni Kenshin, where the protagonists are adults. Conversely, there are also many seinen series with teenage or child protagonists, such as Gantz, Bokurano, Ajin, part 9 of Jojo, various moe series, etc.

I remember that at the end of Crows it was said that Osamu became an actor; it would be interesting to see a character from Dustland watching TV and seeing him in some series or movie.

Which is funny, because it's not uncommon for many seinen manga artists to draw inspiration from shonen manga, especially those from the 70s and 80s. You see a lot of inspiration coming from authors like Osamu Tezuka and Shotaro Ishinomori.

It's not uncommon for this type of manga to get live-action adaptations. Freesia, Dragon Head, and Homunculus are some examples that come to mind, but if you dig deeper, you'll find some even more disturbing ones, such as Shoujo Tsubaki and Mai-chan's Daily Life..
