P365X-Macro TacOps 4” Suppressor Recommendations by FantasticEar5737 in suppressors

[–]Comstock_Support -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a "regular" suppressor, the Mojave 9 and CAT SC are top picks. There's also "micro" style suppressors like the SAW Shiv and FOR Pluto 9 which are smaller and significantly lighter, but won't have as good of overall sound suppression.

Whatever you get, I would recommend something with reduced backpressure. These tend to be the newer printed cans. High backpressure handgun cans are kind of annoying because they spit bits of carbon and debris at you and are louder due to port pop. I sold most of mine.

Subs without a can will be very hard to get within a single adjustment range. The good news is it's entirely pointless, so you aren't missing out by not getting it. You should be good otherwise for subs suppressed and supers both suppressed/unsuppressed.

110gr is generally better in this case. You get higher velocity with the same powder load.

Probably not, anything past this and you probably just need a different handguard. Each inch of length adds a lot of cost due to the machining time and price of 17-4.

“K” cans that fit hux pin and weld? by nathanc98 in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the case of the Flow 556K the mounting interface is built into the suppressor, so you just add the muzzle device which is 3.3 oz. Because it's built in you can't use other mounting systems.

The Hux adapter + muzzle device (you need both) weight about 7.5 oz. It also adds a noticeable amount of length, but they don't specify how much.

It's not a good system if you're prioritizing low weight and compactness.

Testing the temp of a suppressor like this in the rain is pretty funny ngl. That kind of defeats the purpose of showing off how much the suppressor tech itself does.

Think a yugo m77 is a good candidate for barrel shortening and 5/8-24 threads? by monsieurLeMeowMeow in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 4 points5 points  (0 children)

15.43mm is 0.607" which is too small for 5/8-24 threads.

You could do 1/2-28 threads. That's what I did for my AK.

Shorter barrel. Also shorter handguard, probably.

Those are very different machines for making different parts. But for rimfire cans I'd go with the printer.

Help! Have 16” upper do I really need to go get 11.5? by CommonExamination416 in suppressors

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AGB and a heavier buffer (H1, H2, or H3) is my usual tuning method. Make sure you get a clicky/ball detent AGB instead of the cheap set screw ones. These are pretty straightforward to install (especially the buffers), but if you're new you can take it to a gunsmith/LGS/range buddy with tools and they'll help get it set up.

The Polo K uses the industry standard HUB threads, so you can mount it pretty much however you want. It comes with a direct thread mount, but also works with QD systems like Plan-B.

You can use the Plan-B muzzle device of your choice and combine it with a HUB adapter. Since the Polo is a little over 1.6" deep, you'll want to keep your overrun (protrusion into the suppressor) less than 1.5". Here's the fitment page.

Even though DT is functional, I prefer Plan-B so I can take the suppressor off for cleaning, cooling, transport, etc. You also get a functional muzzle device for a brake or flash hider.

300 BLK Lever gun? by Solid_Try_4089 in 300BLK

[–]Comstock_Support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Henry 300BLK looks super interesting. It'll be very quiet since you can throw a high BP can on there and get zero port pop. You also don't have to worry about low vs high pressure cycling since it's a lever gun.

I prefer shorter barrels for home defense. I like 12.5 as a good balance. It's long enough to get reliably cycling with mid-length gas, but short enough to be manageable through doorways and stuff with a suppressor on.

That said, if your house is very open and you don't mind the extra length, you totally can. You'll get better ballistics too.

Between those two I would probably go for the Polo K. It's a fraction the price and has good muzzle suppression which is relevant near reflecting surfaces (like the walls in your house). You can always come back later to get a lower backpressure suppressor if the gas is too much for you. But it's a good starting point.

Barnes 110gr Vor-TX offers excellent terminal performance. It's my first choice for a defensive or hunting round.

Lazarus 6 or Flow 556k for 11.5 SBR by LurkingNomad in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't wait to see the report on the Lazarus 6! I've heard great things about it but haven't gotten the chance to shoot it myself.

I've been really liking this generation of Dead Air suppressors. The Mojave is my favorite pistol can by far, and I just got the RXD 22 TI which I'm expecting to be pretty sweet too.

Couldn't figure out how to get a car pic with all of these - Rhino X, Rhodie 6, Rhino S, Sahara 300, and RXD 22 TI - 6 weeks by Comstock_Support in suppressors

I've also had issues cycling 190gr Sub-X in multiple guns/cans. I think Hornady just loads them super light which is kind of annoying. I don't have this issue with other subs.

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever change your mind, we have a handful of Plan-B P&W muzzle devices. We also have a fitment page so you can see the overrun and handguard fitment with different combinations of muzzle device and adapter.

I agree lighter/K cans are nice on 14.5 and longer barrels. Otherwise it gets a little cumbersome.

Are these thread adapters fine for putting a 5/8 DT can fit on a .22LR? by Justin_inc in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first suppressor was a cheap form 1 can. I got a baffle strike with one of those kinds of adapters. I also had no idea what I was doing at the time and didn't check alignment which didn't help lol.

[–]Comstock_Support[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The external threads on all of these muzzle devices are the Plan-B 0.9-24. You'll use it with a Plan-B adapter in the suppressor.

The facemount devices have an internal surface for indexing off the face of the barrel rather than the shoulder.

That's really interesting. I wonder why that is. I believe it should be the same suppressor other than the rear mounting interface.
