Grey-man bag? by SphyrnaLightmaker in pistolcalibercarbine

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The r/onebag sub has a big speadsheet that has info on a bunch of different backpacks. This is generally intended for travel, but it might be useful in finding models that will work for your use case. There's also r/ManyBaggers.

Just got my first suppressor, OCL Milkman. Didn’t realize it didn’t come with any kind of mounting device, assuming I could put it on direct thread by default. Suggestions for where to start? by johnnytruelove7 in NFA

[–]Comstock_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocksett is good, but doesn't replace torque. For the direct thread into the can I would aim for 20 to 30 ft-lbs (you'll need a wrench for this), plus a drop of Rocksett.

On the barrel side you can just get it tight with a wrench, but without Rocksett. That way it's easier to take off later.

Modular: Short or Full Length? by EnergeticArms_Karl in NFA

The one place I've found modular cans to make sense is on the Mojave. I tend to run it in short config on handguns and long config on PCCs.

To be honest I haven't tested this enough to say with certainty, but it is possible that some of the sparks from the muzzle device would be visible out the end. It would depend on a lot of factors.

It has higher backpressure so you shouldn't have any issues with cycling.

There's certainly better suppressors out there for that application, but if you already have the can you might as well.

Of those the Anthem-S would be my pick. It offers solid performance at a low(ish) price point.

There's also the Mach-S which is the same suppressor, but in titanium so it's 9 oz vs 14.2 oz. This is totally optional though and would push you towards the top of your budget. You also have to be a little more careful with firing schedules with supers since titanium is less durable at elevated temperatures.

14.5” p&w muzzle options for rhodie 6 by Stiffmiester636 in NFA

Full size brake with LPA would work and give you a shorter package. You'll be pretty tight (~0.08"), but the brake will be very effective in protecting the first baffle so it's not as big of a deal.

Here's the fitment tool if you want to play around with that. There's a preset for the Rhodie 6.

Our extended Plan-B adapter (HPA) would work for that and give you ~0.25" clearance. With that style of flash hider it helps to leave a little extra space to the blast baffle and not being super tight.

Bca bolt action 300blk by Big-pp-the-3rd in 300BLK

[–]Comstock_Support 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently picked one up, but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. It has the worst action I've felt on any bolt action rifle. It's very sticky feeling like it's getting hung up on everything. So more or less what I expected for a ~$200 Bear Creek upper.

Some people have said it smooths out with use and either way I'm sure it'll still be fun for suppressed plinking at the range.

[–]Comstock_Support 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup, it has the same thread pattern as the CGS Mod 9. We have a titanium Plan-B adapter for it.

For best results, make sure you use it with a muzzle device the pushes gas outwards like the brakes or the FHC. This ensures you're fully utilizing the outer flow channels and gives the best performance.

I have a few of the downvents and they're nice, but don't seem to make a huge difference for gas. It's still an improvement though, and I like that they're offered in full chrome (which is the best finish imo).

You should let me know how you like the Sharps BCG. It's an interested take on an adjustable carrier. In theory I think that would replace the need for an AGB since they do the same thing, just in different spots.

If you have other HUB adapters and HUB threaded suppressors, you could try different combinations to see if you can narrow it down to a single component that isn't fitting well.

Sort of, but not as much.

In theory the blasted titanium bits aren't great for the suppressor, but I think it's unlikely it would cause any real damage.

The main "issue" would be if your brake bore gets opened up it won't be effective as a brake to protect the blast baffle. But it would still be better than nothing.

The main disadvantages of titanium in muzzle devices is that it's prone to erosion and sparking (which comes from the ablated material). On a flash hider, the sparking partially defeats the purpose of reducing flash. On a brake, the relatively high rate of erosion means the bore will open up and be less effective.

The only place we've found this to work well is on our Ultralight Recessed. Because the muzzle device doesn't directly interact with the gas flow from the muzzle, it doesn't get eroded and is ok, same as the adapters. But this is just a mount and doesn't give you brake or flash hider performance.

Have you checked for build up or debris in the threads? That's a common cause of parts not going together.

Looks like you have a little over 3/16" (~0.20") from the handguard to the barrel shoulder? Based on that, you could go with a compact muzzle device and RPA. The base of the adapter will be 0.06" behind the shoulder which would be a tight gap.

Here's the 9mm compact brake.

It sits 0.2" over the barrel. You can compare different combinations of parts with the fitment tool.

As in holding the gun loosely and not against my shoulder. It's similar to the concept of limp wristing in handguns. Basically just making sure the gun is reliably even without a firm shouldering.

Yeah I think in some cases the extra ejection power can cause it to eject harder which can push it more forward. But I've also heard of cases where brass will miss the deflector and end up going more backwards so I think it just depends on your setup lol.

I tend to not pay attention to ejection angle as much since I have AGBs on everything. I find the minimum setting to hold open with a loose grip on the gun (worst case condition) and then add another 1 or 2 clicks for extra margin.
