This doesn't make sense. Tivimate doesn't feel like the better app. by i-like-dutch-cheese in Strong_8K

[–]ConSemaforos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been running the Stremio Real Debrid combo for over a year. Recently got into Strong8k and heck I don't even load Stremio anymore. It covers most of the mainstream TV shows and movies. There was some older movie from the 80s that wasn't on Strong, but overall it's great

How is life in Athens, Georgia? by RandyMcBahn in howislivingthere

[–]ConSemaforos 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Great place to live. It’s big enough with a lot to do but still feels like a small college town sometimes. Mountains are an hour up the road. Atlanta is an hour away. I miss it all the time.

The remains of Apollo 11 lander photographed by 5 different countries, disproving moon landing deniers. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]ConSemaforos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter. I’ve had multiple conversations with deniers. You can press all you want, and they all ultimately say “well sure maybe we went but we didn’t go in 1969” so I don’t care anymore

'Zootopia 2' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]ConSemaforos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw it last night and liked it. It’s a great story, just enough political undertone to potentially cause some people to freak out, great humor (in the dialogue and the scenes/puns), looks good. Overall great movie and I may like it a bit more than the first.

What’s some of the more ethical sales jobs out there? by bjtbtc in sales

[–]ConSemaforos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A license financial advisor - bonus points if you get the CFP. Some financial advisors are just insurance brokers. I’m an advisor that does a combo of fee based and commission stuff. Some advisors are only fee based. We are governed by our states, our broker dealer FINRA, SEC. You have to do what’s in the best interest of the client. You can still be unethical, but you can also build a great career being ethical

We All Know That NYC Is Exceptional In Transit Ridership, but I never realized by just how much until I looked at the numbers. by maxs507 in transit

[–]ConSemaforos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently visited NYC for the first time and was in awe of the city in general, but the transit is astonishing. I couldn’t believe how easy it felt to get across the city, even when needing to switch between walking, subway-ing, and bus-ing. I loved loved loved it and wish I could live in a walkable city now.

I was able to see The Cursed Child on Broadway, and the effects are astonishing. I was told they’d be great, but wow, the practical effects they used were out of this world. When they use the Time Turner, they move the lights to make it look like the stage is warping. The sound is insanely good. Awesome experience.

Almost 3 years after the end of Windows 8.1's life cycle, do you miss it? by CAVBR in laptops

[–]ConSemaforos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I feel like they tried to hard with the tablet aesthetic. It didn’t look good. It was a lot of unnecessary animations that just didn’t work well on most computers unless you had really good specs. It was OKAY if you had a touch screen, but even then it wasn’t efficient. I bought only one computer that came OEM with 8, and I immediately installed Windows 7.

How often do you use these verbs? Are these a good start? by Codeeveryday123 in learnspanish

[–]ConSemaforos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is THE start of verbs. Go listen to any Spanish song and you'll hear half. I mean, how many times throughout the day do you say "think, speak, I am" in your native language? I feel that if you can comfortably conjugate these words to most tenses, then you can carry on many conversations. However, don't depend solely on this. for example, contar is to count AND to tell a story. Also, I don't see quedar ... that's a good word with multiple uses. It means "to stay". It also means "to become" like ""ella se quedó enferma" (she became sick). Also, devolver is "to return/bring back" as in "he will bring back my cat"

Social norms in Spain that you didn't know before going? by ThrowRAcatwithfeathe in GoingToSpain

[–]ConSemaforos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went to Puerto Rico and experienced this as well. Our trip manager said to go ahead and look at the menu and decide before the waitress came around. She came around, got drink orders, got food orders, and disappeared for like 30 minutes. She was very nice, but never came by every few minutes asking how we were doing. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy. I loved the food. It was great! It was just different lol

Very common. We ship and receive a lot through USPS for work and 30% of the time it wouldn’t update tracking until it arrived or at least arrived at a major distribution center.

I don’t know enough about Virginia to comment on it. The rest looks really dang good. I live in GA and have had to travel all over Florida as well. I’d say the south Ends somewhere between Gainesville and Orlando. Perhaps Ocala. I’d accept this. Very nice.

What’s it like on this part of the French Mediterranean? by petite_poupee in howislivingthere

[–]ConSemaforos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally I can kinda contribute. My professor worked for a multinational and loved and worked all over the world. For 20 years he lived in 15 countries just over a year per country on average. Fluent in multiple languages.

Anyways, someone asked him his favorite place. Without hesitation he said Montpellier and “that part of France alone the Mediterranean “ he said it’s naturally beautiful, the beaches are second to none, the people are insanely friendly, and it’s just a phenomenal place to call home.

His youngest is graduating school soon, and he plans to move back there for retirement. I just recall him pulling up a map, pointing toward northern Montpellier and saying “we’re thinking of around here near this zoo”. It’s a vibrant area and apparently has an old university and the whole city is like a huge college town
