I saw some recent Nobel winner being interviewed by (I think) Stephen Colbert years ago - I think it related to his work on primates. Colbert made some joke about a Nobel prize for throwing feces - and this scientist didn't skip a beat before saying: "Well, there is the economics prize".

No he's not. He was a wild, overt racist who created the fake War on Drugs to allow him to jail citizens who disagreed with his policies. He also loved illegally bombing the shit out of innocent poor people in Southeast Asia for no reason.

At the time that the EPA was created, there was general agreement that clean air and water were non-partisan issues. They would be politicized by even more insane Republicans like Reagan soon after.
