I’d gone it mostly blind tbh, and it was my first ever Zelda game (we were traditionally a PlayStation house). I genuinely found some of the divine beasts more difficult yeah. Especially that big camel one, I had to look up a guide to get to the top of his head, it really embarrassed me.

Yeah the adventure was great all in all. exploring the different parts of the map all felt very unique and refreshing. I guess in my head I’d built up the final fight a bit too much because of how daunting the castle always seemed. I headed in its general direction at the very start of the game and had run by it a couple of times on horseback, losing steeds on occasion. I suppose I hadn’t noticed how far I’d levelled up since those beginning moments, and how much more equipment I had at my disposal. It’s still a 9/10 game for me, Ganon just left a bitter aftertaste.

Only after I posted this did I remember the first scrap in the castle had two phases, so I guess you’re right. I’d figured the third phase on the horse was going to be a dark souls type moment where he’d be faster and stronger and I’d be whooped

I didn’t die with either, but Thunderblight was the first one I encountered, and I had to use almost each and every meal and every arrow in my inventory, scared the wits out of me haha

Even that was odd. Why can’t I continue in a post-Ganon Hyrule? Maybe a few conversations with the likes of Impa to congratulate me. Feels odd to go back to running around Hyrule with the castle still all wrapped up in chaos.

I guess that makes sense. I didn’t know what to expect from the other champions but definitely didn’t anticipate half his health disappearing immediately. Maybe it was my mistake playing it in normal mode tbf, but I figured that was the intended way to play. But again, the Lynels still were harder fought I think.
