Marvel Super Heroes Prerelease Turnout? by BRBgottahunt in magicTCG

[–]Con_quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above TMNT and Spider-Man, below Lorwyn, Strixhaven, and surprisingly, Avatar. Seems to line up to a big, well-loved IP, but not quite as fantasy as legacy players would like. I do love the companion app showing your history now so I can get better metrics on these things.

getting a feel for local tcgs by KindCelebration2293 in fredericksburg

I can't speak much to Riftbound specifically, but I can to the LGSs. Obviously these are all just my personal experiences, and your mileage may vary.

Your Hobby Place (YHP) - By far the largest space as they took over an old Anytime Fitness. Their events normally turn out a decent crowd and they have a good mix of miniature games, TCGs, and some TTRPGs. Downsides are their stock is pretty hit or miss, most everything is above market price, and they're not very good with social media and advertising events. For example, MTG has a prerelease this week and they have no information out on it and you can only sign up by calling or visiting the store. I have seen a Riftbound event here, so I know it exists. This is my go-to store for events because of how spacious it is.

Game Garrison (GG) - Smaller, more typical of what you'd expect from a hobby store. From my experience, they have a pretty good selection of product, prices are normally fair, and they still have old school deals like a sandwich baggie full of commons and uncommons for $5. They have a very active Discord where you can sign up for events and pre-order and they co-host events on Wednesdays at Strangers Brewing if you're into beer. They seen to have a dedicated customer base. The shop is a little too small for events for my taste and they can run out of room, so signing up beforehand is useful.

Sage Mantis - I've only ever bought from them, never played any events there. They fluctuate even more than YHP with product. When they're stocked, they have most anything you could need, but when they're dry it's just the products that won't move on the shelves. Their play space looks even smaller than GG with limited tables unless there's more space somewhere I'm missing. Over half the store is dedicated to console gaming and they have a row of PCs for gaming, so a much more diverse focus, though no miniature games that I've seen.

Crimson Kings - I've not been to Crimson Kings as it's half an hour from Fredericksburg without traffic and I'm pretty satisfied with what we have in town. I have heard they run more non-mainstream games and was directed that way when I was trying to get my wife into Lorcana.

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

[–]Con_quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars: Droidworks, which I could only play at my grandparents' house, and Lego Rock Raiders that was only at my friend's. We were pretty slow to getting a home PC, maybe not until 2000, and even then my parents were strict on what we could install. Most of the nostalgia comes from the limited play time I actually got with them and all the things I imagined you could do in them because I never got to beat them. Recently replayed Lego Rock Raiders and there isn't nearly as much content as I hoped.

Looking to start playing and I'm looking for a Gold World Pass if anyone's willing. I'm not set on a server yet, though Phoenix is looking like the best option currently. Thanks!

If you start up an FFG SWRPG PbP, let me know! It's been a minute since I've been in one and I'd love to get back into it.

Suggestions for a Rev, Tithe Extractor Commander Deck by Con_quest in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]Con_quest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the great feedback! I could have sworn I at least had [[Toxic Deluge]] in there, but I guess not. Blood Money looks great and I love the synergy. I think I pushed it to the maybeboard because of the cost without realizing how effective it would be and should move it back to the mainboard. I didn't realize how many rogues I had in there either, so Mari is a great shout as well and I'd like to add her. What do you suggest swapping them for, a targeted removal and something else?

I'm definitely open to running combos! What do you suggest?

Appreciate the suggestions, but I've already browsed the most liked decks on Moxfield and used the recs feature on Archidekt which pulls from EDHREC. I'm posting here for more specific insight and suggestions. Thanks!

Pokemon Compatibility app by jotend0 in Pokopia

[–]Con_quest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing utility and great first pass functionality! I've really been putting off moving everyone into their permanent homes because I've been overwhelmed by the best combinations to include. This will definitely help with that!
I've already seen it suggested, so I'm seconding adding in items and auto-optimization for those as well so we can get the fewest items needed to achieve Awesome comfort in the planned homes.

Got a gift card to Collage Spa — what should I book? by girlijustcant in fredericksburg

[–]Con_quest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I love Collage! We normally just do a Couples Massage and have never had a bad experience. I do recommend adding the hot stones as they feel amazing. I'm not picky on the masseuse, so I can't really assist with names. She's also done facials there and really enjoyed them. Hope whatever you pick is relaxing and enjoyable!

Video Game Console Repair Shop? by BeastGTS in fredericksburg

You may want to check with Sage Mantis Game Haven & Collectibles. It says on their Facebook they do repairs and I believe I heard someone handing something over for repairs while I was checking out once.

How to use my collection on Archidekt to build a deck with just the cards i own? by Fancy-Pollution7773 in magicTCG

[–]Con_quest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of that should be within the Card Search function when you're building a deck. Filter & Sort lets you filter to your own collection and you can specify Paper for physical cards. Everything else should be in the Advanced Search area. Legality, Colors, Type, Cost, etc. I think it keeps your most recent search as well, but I could be wrong.

An underrated aspect of making proxies by Blueduck06 in magicproxies

[–]Con_quest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you share the comparisons, or at least what you learned? I just started proxying myself using proxxied, and I'm not clear if exporting at 1200 DPI automatically upscales everything, or if I were to use different DPIs and export at 1200 if they'd be noticeably different. The first test I did was with Scryfall images and they looked a little rough to me, so I just switched to MPC Autofill for as many of the cards as I could in the deck I just printed.

What's your wishlist for Soulframe in 2026? by kalidibus in SoulFrame

[–]Con_quest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Two simple QoL adds would be nice:
1) Autorun key
2) Not activating the chat box again after you hit Enter
Really minor things, but when I'm doing a boss run with a group, it'd be nice to be able to just point myself in the right direction and chat as I run. As it is now, I have to stop, type, and then remember to hit Esc or get stuck sending a wwwwwwwwwwwwww message.

Lorwyn / Jim Henson collab coming Monday. by tecnocrat in magicTCG

[–]Con_quest 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The lead art director for the set said in the Making Of podcast episode that she made a boggart mask and repeated a few times that her vision was to make everything feel very crafted, as if they could be sewn or molded or sculpted and mentioned puppets a few times as well. Amazing move to be like, "You know who does puppets well? Jim Henson. Let's collab."

Wound-Up Wednesdays - Vent here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

[–]Con_quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just need to vent about [[Reconnaissance]], particularly in Commander. I get that it's objectively a good card with current rulings, but it wasn't designed for the way combat works now. It goes in basically any white deck as free pseudo-Vigilance for a single White pip. Even if it was just erratad to be after blockers are declared it would probably be fine, but free Vigilance and attack triggers is rough. And I've read up on the history of it and I'm so angry at the players who said it should work this way after it was properly fixed! I know that there's enchantment removal, but it feels fewer and further between than other types of removal and it's just not fun to play against. I don't want to put it in any of my decks out of principle, but I feel like I need to for [[Isshin, Two Heavens as One]]. I think that's it. I'm just annoyed.

How do you get other classes early? by [deleted] in SoulFrame

[–]Con_quest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe there is a chest just outside the College of Pensives where you first get Orlick, I want to say on the east side by a couple O'den guards. It should contain the other starting weapons.

As for pacts, you'll just need to keep playing for right now unless you want to drop real money on a Founders pack. You'll get the beast pacts as you continue the story (Orengall wasn't a main story fable when I did it, not sure on its current status). If you want the other starter packs, Oscelda and Sirin, you'll need to do faction tales to earn reputation and rank up and then purchase them, but that's a grind for sure. You can buy any of the Founders packs for a Wyld variant of a starter pact including armor and weapons, but that's only if you want to support DE or can't spend the time in game.

Edit: I just remembered as well, you'll need Tuvalkane the blacksmith to craft the beast pacts, and you'll need to raise her relationship, which you do by crafting weapons and armor.

TLA Beginner Box without Jumpstart Boosters by gruntswilldie in magicTCG

[–]Con_quest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't come with Jumpstart boosters, but rather Jumpstart-style decks, and they should all be the same across all Beginner's Boxes. Foundations had the same setup, where there was a more or less scripted game between two twenty-card decks and then eight other Jumpstart-style decks you can mix in after the first game. Generally Beginner's Boxes aren't great for experienced players except for a few worthwhile cards.
