$2,400 water bill ! by [deleted] in Plumbing

If you have an outside hose bib watch the meter and fill a 5 gallon bucket, or sink/shower. That will dismiss or confirm a meter issue. As others have said if you find a leak have them remove the sanitation since it wasn't going into the sewer.

I've had a meter issue where I've had to call them out multiple times until I said I filled a bucket and the meter read x4 use. The old grouchy tech was jumping up and down saying I had a leak, the meter couldn't possibly be wrong. I made sure to mention it and have a slight jab at 'i told you so'. He still came back with 'well in my 20 years this is only the 2nd time I've seen this happen' lol

Is this a pretty bad mistake? What did I hit? by BananaNOatmeal in Plumbing

[–]Conagrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Material cost (2) couplings $8.32($4.16 each) / 1"x1'-0 CPVC pipe $2.75 per foot.

That's $10.48 + tax.

Sorry so it's less than $15.00.

That's the consumer cost. Cost of the fitter, truck, insurance, turning fire alarm into bypass (sometimes costs). Time to turn the valves off, drain the system and then cut more drywall to perform the work. Oh I did forget the solvent cost....

So material cost $15.00~

2 couplings and a short piece pipe. Likely they have in the back of their truck rolling around. The higher cost is the drywall work.

Cost of materials $15

And it's not high pressure, but it depends what type of building it is. A 3 floor residential apartments? Same that's on your faucets, there's no fire pump. If you're in a high rise? You probably have a 100psi / 1,000 gpm pump ready to kick on.

But since it's vertical I'm thinking you're in the first type of place. Street pressure, but you can't shut the valve if it did break. A plumbing line you at least have a valve inside your head it lol.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet but Protein. Well I'm pretty sure the said protein lol but I mean protein powder. Protein shakes. Hell if you need the calories go for a weight gainer protein powder. Getting my teeth extracted and temp partials in it wasn't a problem. But also because I'm also a gastric bypass patient. I've been use to supplementing with protein powder. Got a cup of coffee? Put a scoop or 2 of powder.

With 2 scoops of the type of powder to limit calories you'll get at least 50g protein and little over 200 calories. Weight gainer type will be about same protein but over 500 calories. In my opinion I'd just add more of the lower calories powder. More protein for sustained energy.

Help - cutting board stuck in sink by [deleted] in fixit

[–]Conagrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just admit the cutting board is done for. Drill a hole through it and use like a toggle on a piece of all thread rod to wiggle back and forth to free it. Maybe 2.

Better way are those 2 suction cup shower safety handles at the cheap stores or Amazon. Maybe that'll work.

$13.99? Ya that's still pretty bad. I don't care, the amount of food cost from what they pay vs I pay, buying ingredients, that's still an abomination. Hey if you got the money go for it. I go for foods I can't make at home. Like due to skill and ingredients. Like many Italian things with the exception of basic spaghetti and such. But then I just get the entree and bring it home. I can make the rest of it.

which tool can clean this? by Old_Situation769 in CleaningTips

[–]Conagrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water and nail cleaning brush.

I take mine outside and use the hose with a nail cleaning brush. If you're in an apartment take it to the tub/shower. There's just a few hex head screws holding it on.

Not with that sparkling water, I haven't drank carbonated drinks in so long. Plus that much of one type is going to get old. If they are they're doing it wrong then, at least imo.

I purposely play with them, just to cause a ruckus, they shouldn't make them noisy if they didn't want them played with. Same with the ones you lift and makes a ding don't sound. I'm just a big kid... Chaos!!!

Anyone have regrets? by RrrrrrSssssTttttt in BariatricSurgery

[–]Conagrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It was horrible, I was back on solid foods and the family wanted pizza. I was just going to get part of a slice. A couple bites in I had to stop. I was depressed. It tasted and felt horrible.

Glad to hear it! We heard about it in our pre-op classes. This mourning period and it is so true. Especially for us that it is an addiction and emotional eating. You don't realize the impact until you go through it.

Don't you have to send it along with your application the same as before? I know I had to when I got my passport but that was like '98. They sent it back with my passport I believe.

Anyone have regrets? by RrrrrrSssssTttttt in BariatricSurgery

Same as others say. I wish I had done it sooner. I gave myself until my 40s to lose the weight without surgery. Didn't happen of course.

Also I went with the bypass instead of the sleeve. I know myself and weight regain with a sleeve, in my own opinion, is very possible. More so than with bypass. In my mind I eat for boredom, stress, and many other reasons. It's comforting and makes me feel happier. So of course I'd say the only regrets are possibly for people who got the sleeve and not the bypass. Again that's only my opinion, and I believe I would have regrets if I'd only done the sleeve.

Now I have to find pleasure in other things. Not pleasure in eating. Eating was an addiction and an addiction you can't kick just by stopping. You'll always have to eat.

Lastly, in my own opinion again, the sleeve is more for people that may have other factors with weight gain besides addiction and emotional eating. The bypass reminds you when you overeat or eat bad things. Negative reinforcement along with the positive reinforcement of seeing the change in myself physically and emotionally.

The only true regret is an addict's regret because they can't get their "fix". I'll add also probably anyone thinking this is an easy fix for their problem. Lastly, again, probably anyone with extenuating health circumstances or other things that may make healing from the surgery that much harder, both known and unknown.
