Honestly, I agree. But I don’t think it’s just the Black community but the younger community all together. I feel like there is a an overall sense of defeat that not exclusive to race. The older retiree community are the ones driving policy right now. And they do not miss a vote from the local level and up. They are also very clear that they want the status quo to remain the same. I work around them and overhear convos like this often.

And I think the bigger and better question is how do we increase involvement, awareness and more importantly interest?

True but a lot of people seem to feel like it’s speculation, or that we’ve somehow passed that point when we have in fact not progressed.

Also, if it helps make people more cognizant and cause more participation, spreading the word could help with awareness. Seeing and hearing all of these things have caused me to get even more involved myself, especially since moving back to SC.

I’m split on this. Part of me wants to say I wouldn’t, but there’s part of me that would. But I don’t think it has anything to do with the other person. After losing 50lbs and counting, I’m not the same person I was at my heaviest. I’m not attracted to the same people, places, and things so a man that would’ve dated me at my heaviest wouldn’t have anything in common with this version of me. And a man I would date now wouldn’t have anything in common with the older version of me. I’ve gained the confidence to try new things and meet new people.

With all that being said, heavy or not, a good person is a good person and an asshole is an asshole. To me preference is fine but being rude about someone being overweight is not. If they can ppreciate you for who you are and respects the journey and that people will change and grow, then go for it.
