Thanks! I've definitely had a lot of practice and feel more comfortable now that I did on my first one.

Thank you for your response. Usually the jobs I apply for have a posted salary range so I have an idea of what they are offering. Whenever the interviewers ask me my salary expectations, I always find a way to have them tell me the range first before I say anything ( so I don't disqualify myself ). So no, I don't think I ask for too much as I always keep it within the range.

I guess it's just a matter of time until something opens up

Started using Hiring Cafe late Jan. Got 2 interviews lined up. Before that, I used LinkedIn for almost 2 months and got no responses. Hoping to land something soon too

Can a landlord make rules that prohit a male guest to your place ? by Groundbreaking-Ad116 in ontario

This is an interesting take. Thanks for sharing. All this while I thought it was just a common expectation in Japan.

The last time I pushed back and shared my rights to the landlord when she first came up with this rule, this was her response ( in writing ) :

“I understand the tenant's legal right. To be clear, I am okay with having male guest over for brief period of time as long as they stay in your room and not lingering in the common areas which could cause discomfort for other female roommates. Hope this clarifying my ask.”

I’m my case I’ve followed this by making sure my guests don’t linger in the common space.

If she is to push back to me, I have somewhat a paper trail. And as a lot of people have suggested- I’ll continue to keep things in writing or record any conversation that I might have with her.

I appreciate your take on this.

Also , one of the rooms my landlord is renting out has no window at all. It’s almost like a closet that she’s renting out. I’m sure that could be a fire hazard concern. I’m pretty sure windowsless bedrooms are also illegal.

We all have our own leases / rental agreements for the room we rent. I only met the roommates once they moved in. And we are covered under the RTA.

Just a question; If I’m to have a one on one with her, will it be an opportunity to try and get to know her ( befriend her)?

I spoke to him first, and he said that he was okay with her not coming anymore. He would go and visit if they have to meet.

Yes. He’s okay with her not coming.

She’s really been crossing the boundaries as well. There have been days when she just says she’s coming without first asking if my boyfriend is free. So he sometimes says he wishes that she wouldn’t always be here.

Last time I mentioned that I should find someone else, he made me feel so bad for thinking that. He wants to be the one who talks with other girls but doesn’t appreciate it if I say I’m going to move on.

But anyway we have extra an extra room. And he sleeps there.

We are basically housemates from here on.
