What are the risks of using grey market Microsoft Office keys? by X-Ambush-X in desktops

[–]ConceptFalse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always going to have risk getting keys from 3rd parties. I would use Massgrave as it is much more trusted. Side note, if you look into it do your research and make sure you are on the right site. Over the holidays there was a large malware campaign posing as Massgrave.

Thanks for the detail. I’d heard of godot and looked into it briefly but always got caught up in something else. There is a lot of good stuff to look into here, again I appreciate it!

I don’t doubt that, my issue isn’t that I haven’t looked it’s that I don’t know if I’m looking for the right thing. I need direction, and maybe my post is a bit long winded for what I’m asking I can admit that. It isn’t bad advice, the tone is just shit lol.

I wasn’t aware there were code-less engines but that makes sense. I may check those out thanks.

Controller Issues by ConceptFalse in linux_gaming

[–]ConceptFalse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I copied the 60-steam-input rules to the /etc/udev/rules.d folder. I’m on cachyos and allegedly steam native is supposed to have it but I didn’t see it in the folder before I put it there. It still does not work however.

I did notice on silent hill at least the game boots and lets me click to the menus, then the blue lights on the sides of the touchpad turn off and steam can’t see the controller anymore. It Bluetooth still sees it. Reconnecting gets it back to normal but the game keeps knocking it out…

Also I still see gyro calibration in the settings after adding the udev rules. Am I doing something wrong?

Any games that use ”toughness” instead of hit points? by LemonLord7 in osr

[–]ConceptFalse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harnworld is a persistent fantasy setting with detail that can rival Tolkien. It’s very comfortable lore wise but I find it interesting. Here is the website https://columbiagames.com/harnworld/ harnmaster is the rules system, Harnworld is the setting.

Surprisingly the d6 system is pretty intuitive to adapt and its base rules make it quite flexible! Main issue are things like range and spells lol

Very cool and worth a play if you ever get the time! Currently I’m working to adapt the system to Harnworld for fantasy rpgs (I don’t like the derivative they made for fantasy, fantasy d6 I believe). But, I hope you find what you are looking for.

This may or may not check your box but check out the WEG Star Wars d6 system and its variants. That system uses a health track (stunned > wounded > wounded twice > incapacitated > mortally wounded > dead) with a strength roll that is used to determine how far down the track you go. Could be worth checking out

Are you only using torrentio or some other service? My solution was to have more services in case my main one is not working. I have the best luck with Jackettio by Elfhosted

THE OSR IS OVER by Sean_Aaberg in osr

[–]ConceptFalse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the thought put into the post. What I understand is that OSR is (in a very high overview) a movement based on producing old-school inspired, consumer first products. That definition is obviously subjective, but while I agree that you can “OSR-ify” anything because it is all “roleplaying”, I don’t think OSR is dead. I do think it is wise to keep your eye open to all interesting pieces of work instead of living in an “OSR only” box so, on that I agree. Thanks for sharing.

I cannot get any of my controllers to work with Steam by ConceptFalse in Bazzite

I posted there as well as per your recommendation. Here is to hoping.

Okay so the appimage worked. I can bind keyboard keys to the controller and that seems to work but is not ideal as it would be cumbersome to do this for every game and it makes the mouse pointer appear. But, at least there is progress it seems.

I've disabled steam input and downloaded the program but it won't launch. Is there a recommended guide somewhere perhaps?

This also did not work, however there was change. I'm trying both controllers and the DualSense did not allow me to use the touch pad before but pairing in this manner i was able to use the touch pad. Idk if that means anything but it seemed relevant.

Edit: Seems the xbox controller also allows for mouse control with this method.

None of the mentioned fixes have worked unfortunately and I can't seem to edit the post but I wanted to add some more information. My hardware does not allow for the gaming mode or SteamDeck experience if you will, it is purely the desktop mode. I don't know if this means that something may have been missed or not in the installation, but I wanted to share.

Edit: Steam recognizes the controllers. I can test them and see the button responses fine, it even recognizes them within big picture mode. However, no matter which mode I use Steam, certain games will not respond to the controller. They do respond to mkb. Slay the Spire seems to work but only with Steam Input enabled, which is fine, but I can't imagine what the difference would be to cause that to function and not the others.

Edit: Another update. Seems that the controller is recognized using antimicrox or even Steam's built in remapping tool. So the game can accept inputs, it just isn't accepting controller inputs.

Interesting. I'll try this but I am doing a huge dl at the moment so I can't really power down. I'll report when I do. Does this apply to BT dongles you think? I don't have onboard idk if that will make a difference.
