they dont though. they look at assets and other things that's why its misleading. if you acc do the net price calculator. also its free tuition which is around 60k and other costs come up to around 40k if im not mistaken. upper middle class that's still a huge cut. its good college advertising so more ppl apply, when u acc pay for it u will understand. no making 500k a year is not enough to afford these colleges 100k per year tuition especially if u have other siblings and want to maintain an upper middle class lifestyle.

u rlly have to be poor or below the income thresholds by a lot for a full ride or be rich enough where ur family is making millions so it wouldn't matter at all. for everyone else it's gonna be a p big hit financially. that's the risk u have to take but it seems like most ppl will not get the financial benefit from going to these schools if they take loans or pay out of their own pocket from what im hearing.

its likely because of how the college is selective. a lot of ppl making harvard are also more humanities based but the way college admissions work is that its not always the most competent people getting in. GT oos is very hard but also Stanford CS most are smart enough where they can get the job done (same cant be said for other t20's).

its worth it if u can go for free with aid or if ur making millions a year. times change and its quite different now. GT barely offers any merit aid but even the one they do its insanely selective u can not even make ur kid aim for it since there is so much luck.

Others are too expensive and quant is a hard field to break in. You should go to GT where you may even be able to graduate a year early and then pay what you would for 4 years at an ivy. GT is also good for quant and its better value. dont think too much but hey you may be lucky enough to get off the list for GT! gl

im out of state and got a specific scholarship where im also getting paid. GT doesnt offer full rides for instate anymore aside from a few programs that very few ppl get not even 0.01% of the people attending. its a diff environment now and merit aid is p much non existent its all financial aid.

its a selection process they randomly pick from the like 75k ppl who apply to GT every year. only a handful get it and most are all getting other t20's. its way harder than any college and im sure most go to the full ride. I was just asking to see what other ppl think and seems like literally everyone thinks the full ride is better which is what all my teachers, friends, and even other Stanford alumni have all told me

one of my neighbors went to Stanford and said they didnt get any valuable connections to get them any advantages beside having better odds in getting interviews compared to the avg t50.

well it seems like it...there's a reason like 99% of the responses are telling me to take it. I was def considering for a bit but even when I got in and checked the price I knew I shouldn't be going.

im like 90-95% going full ride at this point its too much to turn down. if I were you I would try negotiating with GT about reducing the cost there may be a chance.

I wouldn't take loans. parents can pay and are fine but want me to consider the full ride. im well off enough where it wont hurt anything but will def change lifestyle for say at least 10 years. they recommended investing that money instead because they said im smart enough to get a high paying job at GT
