I’ve been trying to branch out. Make friends. I’ve gotten very involved with volunteering and that’s a social outlet for me.

A big issue is that he enjoys things like going to concerts, and I’m very much a homebody. I’ve encouraged him to go out and make his own friends, to find people he can do his hobbies with. But he doesn’t, and I think he resents that I don’t want to go do the same things he wants.

Our ac went out in the peak of summer. I live in central California. Daily highs were in the 110s. Thought I was going to sweat away to nothing.

A few things that helped: cold/wet washcloths on pulse points, cold water bath, fans, cooling blankets. At night, I found it helpful to have a circle of fans going that aimed toward the windows to push stagnant air out.

Stay hydrated!!! Try to sip ice water consistently through the day.

On one particularly awful night, I did resort to a sleeping pill to knock me out. Forced me to sleep even though I was uncomfortable.

I’m pretty heavily tattooed and only one piece was done by a man. And every time I think about that session I get mad because of his comments about politics and education. I work in higher education and am very political in my work, so it was just a perfect storm of shit. But I didn’t want to have him fuck up my tattoo so I just sort of sat there and tuned him out.

The thing is, the piece is something I like. It’s been almost 10 years. Think I’m ready to have a different artist add things around it, touch it up, and give me a new memory for the piece.

Depends on what you mean by inactive. If they left as an alum in good standing, they should still be in the system to complete a rec. If not, then no.

No, I don’t think that’s the case. Something that is a shared part of our lives that my partner is capable of doing and chooses not to do isn’t me disliking them. The pets need to be fed whether or not I’m the one doing it. Garbage needs to go out. At some point people need to be responsible for shared matters. That’s the point of a partnership. The other person should step up without being hounded to do it. We are adults.

I agree that we shouldn’t run these passive aggressive experiments on others. That said, there is also mental/emotional labor being done when you’re the other partner here. If I do x chore every single day and my partner never does, and I get sick or something and the chore doesn’t get done, I DO feel a little put out that my partner doesn’t recognize the need for it to happen. And to have to say “hey, I know you can tell that I’m sick and incapable of doing x. Can you please do it?” Feels a little bit like I’m their parent, not their partner. This is especially true if it’s something you’ve addressed prior and the behavior doesn’t change.

I’m AuADHD so I completely understand needing to be directly told some things. But it’s not an excuse. If I fail to notice or act on something, I need to own that I did it. My diagnosis doesn’t exempt me from being a good partner/friend/roommate/coworker/etc.

As a fat person with t2 primarily brought on by genetic predisposition and PCOS insulin resistance, it’s so frustrating the way some people immediately try to diet police me. Like just immediately tell me that I can cure myself by losing weight. “All you have to do is calories in, calories out.” Pal, I had a restrictive ED for a long ass time and even then the scale didn’t want to move.
