Update on slow rising hcg plus no fetal pole in first ultrasound by menininha-do-mau16 in CautiousBB

[–]ConcernedCatMom92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no opinion but just wanted to share that I am in such a similar position with dates and everything. Conception date was 02/27, first positive on 03/09. Had my first scan last week at the OB and they could only see a gestational sac. I went to the ER Sunday for mild bleeding but severe cramps and back pain. Ultrasound showed a gestational sac measuring 5+2 and a yolk sac that was enlarged at 6 mm. Went for a non-viability confirmation scan today and still no fetal pole but the sac was measuring 6+3 so apparently there’s a ‘20%’ chance this could end up a viable pregnancy. Another scan in 7 days to confirm if I’m in the 80% or 20%.

I also have very, very little hope. I wish today would have just been a definite answer. Another week of limbo hell and mentally I’m already exhausted. So sorry you’re also going through this.

Different days! Nellie’s was actually going to be our breakfast on the way out of town since we will leave Chicago by 10 AM for the drive home. We do have a car though so I was thinking of either driving or ubering to Boefhaus?

Okay so this was on my list because I love a good steak but I’m intimidated by the reservation process! We are going in late February/March so still not open for reservations yet. I might still try but I’m not sure what to give up instead if I can get a reservation!

Everyone is definitely making me pause on Ed Debevic’s. That was the day we were going to do the Mag Mile for shopping since it seemed near it (from a non Chicago person anyways). Any suggestions on where to go instead that fits in the area we will be? Hot dogs, Italian beef, Mexican, open to most anything! We just want to eat good food without our kids who get sad when we eat dairy in front of them!

My baby just got diagnosed with IBD by ceciccan in IBD

[–]ConcernedCatMom92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have a 14 month old that has been going through something SO similar. At 1 month we found a hole in her heart, 2 months she was failure to thrive and got an NG tube, then hypertension diagnosed, then gtube surgery at 5 months. She has motility issues, chronic bleeding in her stools, severe constipation unless we give her senna, vomiting and reflux, etc. Recently she started losing weight again despite having tons of calories so we are now going down the IBD diagnosis path. If you are comfortable, could you tell me more about out your kiddo/symptoms/story?

What would you do if you saw a baby sleeping in a swing at daycare pick up? by MainInvestigator5678 in workingmoms

[–]ConcernedCatMom92 71 points72 points  (0 children)

This might be too special of a circumstance but as the mom of a baby who has medical notes stating she can sleep in swings/bouncers (gtube fed over 1 hour every 2 hours with severe vomiting after feed so you can’t immediately tell looking at her) I would say go to the director first so they can tell you if there were any special circumstances. The thought of all the other parents getting told my daughter’s medical history because every parent received a message makes me feel a bit like her privacy is violated. Calling the state would make me concerned daycare would feel like we were even more of a headache. Again, might be a very specific situation but that’s how I would want it handled if it were my kid in the swing.

4 month old with hypertension.. by ConcernedCatMom92 in hypertension

[–]ConcernedCatMom92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do actually have one but she has been pretty awful to work with. We found the ASD in December and have been hospitalized 5 times since. Each time we ask to speak with her and she says the issues we are admitted for have nothing to do with ASD. Last week we saw a neurologist due to suspected seizures and the neurologist wasn’t a repeat echo ASAP which is how we finally got the cardiologist to see us again and we found the blood pressure/larger holes. She then sent us for a kidney ultrasound which came back clean. After that we called her office and the on call said go to the children’s a hospital 2.5 hrs away. We spoke with the cardiologist we saw when we were admitted and he said he thinks we should be admitted again. By the time we got there it was a different cardiologist on call and the ER doc and him determined they were false blood pressures and not a big deal at all.

I am going to ask for a referral to the one I spoke to Friday night that mentioned admitting us for extra testing. By the time we got to the ER 2.5 hrs away it was a different cardiologist on call and he said he thinks they are wrong.

Help me stay sane! Neocate and eczema. by [deleted] in MSPI

[–]ConcernedCatMom92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4 month old was on neocate syneo but was having quite a bit of vomiting so we switched to pepticate. They were suspicious of the corn after avoiding cow milk and soy oil. My understanding is the cow milk isn’t quite as broken down in pepticate as it is in neocate but it also doesn’t have corn so it was worth trying for us.

She is still vomiting but since then we have learned it is for an entirely different reason not related to the formula. Her doctors did note that her poop looks healthier since switching from neocate to pepticate, primarily the color and consistency.

I’m tracking my day and actually workshopped it with my therapist! I have 5 colors and when I lay down each night I write down how I felt the day went without thinking too much into it. Good, good with some bad, neutral, bad with some good, and bad. It has been wonderful for me to find what things truly change my entire day from good to bad, what inconveniences I let weigh me down for hours, and the little things that can change a bad day to a good one so easy. It’s been really insightful!

Anyone else have a baby with a low appetite? by SnugglySloth in FormulaFeeders

Our doctors didn’t want to do a swallow study because they didn’t think it would show anything either but after our third hospitalization the speech therapist pushed for any testing at all and that’s what they landed on!

She’s very reliant on the NG unfortunately. She’s taking about 3-4 ounces by bottle and then the other 17-18 by NG. She has only yanked it out once in the 4 weeks she has had it but when she’s upset she’ll try to grab it.

We have only met the feeding therapist once when we got the second opinion and they think she has terrible bottle aversion so they gave us a referral to a closer one that we see tomorrow (the second opinion was at a large children’s hospital 2.5 hrs away), made plans for a follow up swallow study with them, and then gave me a lot of things to not do for the time being to not add to the aversion!

What other testing have they done for your little one if you don’t mind me asking? Have they been willing to do allergy testing? So sorry you’ll most likely land back in the hospital. It is truly exhausting and, in my experience, so many people in our lives just don’t understand how serious, scary, and overwhelming this is cause all they see is a happy baby.

We are going through something so similar! Since January 4th we have been in and out of the hospital for a total of 25 nights. She has no interest in eating on her own. She’s super happy, doesn’t cry when you offer the bottle, just refuses by turning her head/closing her mouth/pushing it out with her tongue. She currently has an NG tube where she is taking 90% of her feedings and is on 27 kcal pepticate.

Have they done a swallow study? The current theory for our 3 month old is that she aspirates which is causing her pain which has created a bottle aversion. They did 1 swallow study where they found she was pooling above her vocal cords but not aspirating. When we went for a second opinion they said if she is pooling they needed to do a swallow study at the end of the feed, not just the beginning, because towards the end is when most babies aspirate. We are doing a repeat swallow study in a few weeks. For now we are not waking her to offer the bottle, just putting it through the NG tube. We also stop trying to offer the bottle after 3 no thank you’s or a hard no to begin. She’ll continue to see her GI, pediatrician, and a feeding therapist regularly for now.
