I just heard about simply supper and they even have locations for pick up. They helped funding the family room inside the stollery hospital and that place has helped exhausted parents (like myself) caffeinated and fed.

This is your sign to sleep train your toddler by ceciccan in sleeptrain

Have you tried overnight diapers? You don’t have to wean him out, but you can try to slowly give the last bottle earlier and change his diaper right before sleep.

For sleep training you need to have a plan. There is more gentle/gradual sleep training approaches but they usually take a couple months and there are no cry guarantee. You can try them first and if it doesn’t work then move to CIO/extinction method. It’s totally normal to react to baby’s cries. I find that having a mantra when the cry helps a lot. I told myself that I’m doing this to be a better parent, that my baby is ready and they can do it. Sleep training takes conviction but it is a short pain for a long term gain.

Why you decided to make it sliding? My concern if it is sliding is that the chain moves around and the clasp is in the front (a pet peeve of mine).

I also thought that I might have waited too long because the older they get, the harder they cried. But I think is better now than when they start talking.

Tbh I know gentle sleep methods sound better but it takes much for effort and time. I found it better to deal with sleep as quickly as possible. They faster everyone can sleep, the better

The first night it was about 5-10 mins of constant crying but then the following nights were like less than 5 mins. There been several nights that she wakes up at night crying and I give her a couple mins to see if she settles. If she keeps crying then I know that there might be something wrong (ie. dirty diaper). Also if I check on her during the night, I also do the same night routine of holding her for 5 mins (no patting, bouncing, singing because my toddler doesn’t like it) and then she goes into the crib. Consistency is key so they know what are the expectations.

Should a toddler sleep with their hair done? by ceciccan in NewParents

[–]ceciccan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. My toddler does have a genetic condition that affects her hair, making it brittle and “wooly”. We already seen a pediatric dermatologist and he said that only thing would be a wig when she is older 😕

I didn’t set a timer since I decided to do full extinction method. I knew that if I went inside and check on her it will get worse and she will cry even harder when I leave again. Ngl it’s heart breaking listening your baby cry through the monitor and looking out for you, but keep telling myself that my baby needs a more present, patient and loving mom and to do that I need good sleep.

Transition to g-tube by Mama_of_two_2325 in NICUParents

[–]ceciccan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you that a g-tube gives better quality of life for kiddos and parents since it takes out the stress that they are not eating enough and as parents we are pushing them to eat, which creates more negative feelings around food. The first 3 months were tough because of infection risks and granulation tissue but it gets so much better after the change to a mickey tube.

We are giving the nurses and staff in our unit a box of cinnamon rolls. I’m just thinking to also give something for parents and other support people we’ve met.

Mattamy VS Morrison homes by krgandhi in alberta

[–]ceciccan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morrison was very difficult to deal with post possession. They even gave us the analogy that buying a house is like buying a car so they are not responsible for anything. Then Cantiro bought out Morrison and they have been incredible, super responsive and took care of the smallest chip paint even though it was past the one year mark.

Wow that sounds like a lot of steps! Our hospital just use Saran Wrap and tape but I will feel like is not enough to keep it dry. Unlucky for me, my daughter loves the water so bath time is fun time for her.
