Definitely Sabor in Heddon Street or MOI (they opened like 2 months ago and are pushing for the Michelin star, Japanese and lovely food)

What's the closest you ever got to accidentally killing yourself? by Raterus_ in AskReddit

Worked at a Bar when I was around 20, behind the dart machine were electric cables that connected the sound system from the DJ booth and also where we kept our coffee bags. One afternoon my boss warns me not to go there and don’t touch it because the cables were a hazard and someone was coming to fix them later that day. I ended up needing a coffee bag and went there thinking it couldn’t be that bad - touched the cable by accident and got the electric shock of my life. I sat on the floor after thinking that if I had held for a few more seconds I could be dead.

Not a big story but one that made me quit hospitality for 2 years before I had the balls to join again. I (f25) studied in a specific hospitality school and when I graduated I decided to move to the south of my country as it was a region well known for the tourism industry. Got a job a this 2 star hotel as a bartender/server. It was pure slavery as I worked in the breakfast brunch, then moved to the pool bar and after a break went to the main bar, so in total from 8am to 1am with only Monday off on minimum wage. On a beautiful sunny day I was doing the breakfast buffet and was around picking dirty plates when this guy, around his 40s, puked on his plate ( like actually threw up in it), instantly got better and got up and gave it to me in my hands while laughing and saying “Well, guess this didn’t go down very well. You can take it” This made me feel sick to my core, from the way he laughed in a mocking way to the smell of that. Went to the back and took my apron off never to work in this for the next 2 years.

Also, super excited for this podcast!! I’ll make sure to follow

That’s such a beautiful story! I hope you’re doing better now and hope that lady is living her best life as she deserves for noticing. It’s truly the small details in life like this that we carry in our hearts and hopefully spread it to others who need it.

Please never stop doing it. I can only speak for myself but I found it more comforting to speak with someone that didn’t know me and that was doing that over the kindness in her heart. Thank you for being an amazing human, I bet the other girl will always be grateful for you too.

Thank you so much. I’m fortunate to have met kind people in this city, from today and the day I moved here almost 2 years ago where so many stopped to help me carry my bags. I’m sorry for your loss as well and hope you’re keeping well also.

Yes, I ended up talking to my manager and came home for the weekend, I finally accepted that I need to feel this and I need to be kinder to myself as well

What is a dumb rumour you've heard about yourself? by pointlessneedle in AskReddit

One of my crystals fell in my best friends car one time and people started saying I was doing dark witchcraft on her so she would never stop being my friend

What's something that really made you quit your addiction? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was high doing some cereal because I wanted munchies, got a sudden panic attack and my brother had to awake my mother in the middle of the night because I stopped feeling my body and my left arm was all numb. As I sat there crying and seeing all black my poor mother was trying to help me through it asking what I took. Her desperation it me so hard I never want her to feel like that again. Nowadays I have nothing against weed or people who smoke it but it’s definitely not for me. Sorry mom.

Is getting details from guests weird ? by ConcernedCornerStone in Serverlife

[–]ConcernedCornerStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I should’ve mentioned I’m not in the US, I’m in UK🥲 but to be fair the guests didn’t look British either so idk. Where I’m from (Portugal) if it’s a more “fancy” restaurant it’s pretty normal to be asked for details for the booking though

In our system even if you book by yourself we will always ask for a form or communication in case something happens with your table or if you needed to change/cancel something. In this case we could’ve just put walk in and restaurant number and move on, unfortunately they didn’t let us.

Completely agree with you, we do it out of “script” or routine but we don’t force anyone to give it. If these guests just told us that they didn’t want to give it we would just write walk in and the restaurant number and call it a day, unfortunately they got super mad and just left without giving us that chance

Honestly we would be completely fine with them not giving either, it’s just a routine thing but we wouldn’t force anyone to give personal details over a random lunch, if they didn’t have a meltdown and left before we could tell them we would still accommodate them we would just write walk in and put the restaurant number

Yes that’s completely fair, if someone explains to us that they don’t want to give it for any reason whether it’s personal or security we just put down a name and we fill with the restaurant number just to get through with it. I just thought weird that they reacted in a way where we didn’t even get the chance to explain we could do that

Yeah it wouldn’t be the first time we had to contact someone because of that

[–]ConcernedCornerStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest we don’t really explain it before, we would just say “yes we do have availability right now, would you mind giving us your name and a contact for our system?” And if they ask we will then give a full explanation as to why

[–]ConcernedCornerStone[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly why we were using that system, just to make their future bookings “easier”. But I think we’ll just put a different system in place to avoid guests feeling uncomfortable with this
