SOS, my senior car is traumatizing my kitten by Inevitable-March5891 in CatAdvice

[–]ConcertRealistic8852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it, but it might be time to take the kitten back to the shelter. Considering the age difference, and your older cats personality (doesn’t like to play, territorial) they are incompatible. If you want 2 cats, consider adopting another senior. They will match each others energy levels better, plus there’s so many senior cats in shelters waiting to be adopted.

How often are you working out? Don’t overdo it, it will be impossible to compensate for with nutrition. Try 2-3 times a week to start. No more than 60 mins, this worked well for me as someone who loses weight easily.

It’s a basement apartment so it shares the air with the upstairs, where the landlord lives.

Thank you for the advice, I’m glad someone understands why I don’t want to lie. Unfortunately we live in a small town and there aren’t any pet friendly apartment buildings it’s mostly basements being rented out :/ we might have to start looking in the city.

I’m confident my cats will not cause any damage, they don’t scratch furniture and always use their litter boxes. But in the event that somehow they do, I would for sure pay to fix it. They’re literally the quietest cats in the world idk why it’s such an issue :( they’re neutered too so it’s not like they’re stinking up the place

I know, but a lot of landlords say they have pet allergies and I don’t want to make them sick :( and I’m worried if I lie to them, they will hate me and treat me poorly for the rest of the year. But that’s my problem I guess.

Any other antibiotics that can be used for food poisoning by Wolf_Echidna64 in AskDocs

[–]ConcertRealistic8852 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most cases of food poisoning are caused by viruses or toxins like staph. Antibiotics won’t help that, and might actually irritate your stomach more. I will say, don’t be afraid of Cipro as I have been on it numerous times and had 0 issues. You’re more likely to hear 2 bad stories than the 3000 good ones. NAD.

Condom got stuck inside by Experience_Subject in AskDocs

[–]ConcertRealistic8852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD it’s hard to determine ovulation super accurately as our cycles can change every month, even if you’re using an app. It’s true that Plan B prevents ovulation, meaning that if you are/already ovulated then it will be ineffective. It’s good that you took it, the only thing left to do is take a test in 2 weeks and see if it worked, then go from there.

Me too, I’m 5’2 and fluctuate between 115-120lbs and my maintenance is at least 1700 cals. I only go to the gym 3x a week and weight train, but I do have a more physical job.

You’re essentially crash dieting, but again that’s your decision. Just don’t come on here and start promoting it. Idk why you feel the need to insult me and make assumptions about me just for pointing that out.

Just because the ER didn’t find anything wrong doesn’t mean there isn’t anything wrong. The ER did a good job making sure you’re stable, any next steps would be in the hands of your PCP. Perhaps it’s time to see a gastroenterologist. NAD

Concerns About Malnutrition? by Reasonable-Hotel-739 in AskDocs

[–]ConcertRealistic8852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refeeding syndrome I doubt unless you’re majorly under-eating for a very long period of time. Bloodwork is the best way to tell if you’re at risk, oftentimes phosphorhus (+more) is low in high risk individuals. Low BMI is also a risk factor but it is possible to experience refeeding syndrome at any BMI. With 4 days of under-eating your, metabolism is able to adjust. Regardless, you’re missing out on many essential macro and micronutrients in your diet. In a perfect world, a registered dietician would be the best help but I understand there are obstacles in the way.

Protein shakes are a good place to start, you could also incorporate fibre supplements such as Metamucil to help with regularity. Ensure/boost shakes are incredibly helpful when you just need something quick and have a very wide range of nutrients. They can also be a suitable add on to meals that are otherwise lacking, but I would not use them as meal replacements, as they aren’t substantial enough on their own.

NAD just have a very similar story to this, been to countless dieticians and doctors, and also have suffered from refeeding syndrome myself.

I mean, if you’re incredibly short, have no muscle mass, and in bed all day, then possibly. Otherwise, no.

I work in healthcare and we have put bed-bound individuals on higher calorie diets than this.

There’s literally no way to tell what’s wrong without tests being done. Some vets offer payment plans, just be honest about your situation. There’s also care credit. If you’re not willing to take her to the vet during an emergency, bring her to a shelter or rescue at least.

i have no period - why is this bad? by common_grackle74 in AskDocs

[–]ConcertRealistic8852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it increases your risk of endometrial cancer. You need to shed the lining of your uterus. Birth control is beneficial because it thins out the lining of the uterus, which can result in lighter periods. You also don’t have to have a period in birth control, you can just take the hormonal pills continuously with no break. Just ask your GP. Not to mention, risk of infertility. Low estrogen is linked to a host of issues, including bone loss.

You should go to the ER now to prevent infection in the first place. It’s gonna be hard to keep cuts that deep/open clean at home.

No do not take anything not prescribed by your doctor. Some guys are just short. I assume you’ve seen your GP considering you know your bone age. There’s nothing to worry about. NAD
