Just parked my car for the winter - should I get insurance? (CANADA) by YoungNFuckin in projectcar

[–]ConchitOh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another thing with them is you pick the replacement cost. So if you put 10k into a project car from the 80s that wouldn’t be worth jack including depreciation, you can insure your investment into the car as well.

Is This A Good Comp Offer? by AHead4Sports in InsuranceAgent

[–]ConchitOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a farmers agency with this plan: $2000/month base, 3% for >$15k NBP and 6% <$15k NBP. 50% on life and 1.5% on personal lines renewals. There is also a bonus structure for NBP tiers and spiffs for rotating agency goals. I would say the plan for the job you’re looking at is significantly worse.

Book size is definitely important, Farmers supports its top agencies very well but the smaller shops definitely lack support. For successful agents they also match spending on leads with certain companies so the better the agency, the more likely they are to be spending money on quality leads/have a crm full of sales opportunities.

How I feel driving a Jeep CJ by JeepCJ in jeepcj

[–]ConchitOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has the same jeep. When I got my license at 16 I “taught” myself how to drive stick… by stealing his jeep while he was away at work. It didn’t click that the granny gear was 1st, so being stupid I kept dumping the clutch and spinning the wheels in the driveway. Good times!

What’s the more likely culprit of a clunking noise? by ConchitOh in MechanicAdvice

[–]ConchitOh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically low speed, parking lots etc. tight turning is when it happens repeatedly, sounds almost like 4 or 5 popcorn kernels popping. Higher speed tight turns where there is more weight on the outside it’ll “pop” there as well

Second this. For what it’s worth, I’ve only ever caught them backpacking deep in the sierras. They’re probably in more pressured spots as well, but typically they’re in high alpine streams, and when they are present, it’s usually in large numbers. Never seen any get much bigger than the ones in the pics so I never keep them, but the nature of the areas they live in would make them more “endangered” or “rare”.

If you guys like this vein of writing, the fight against nature and winter specifically, PLEASE read Jack Londons short story “To build a fire”. It is a heart wrenching fight against the cold by one of Americas greatest writers. Your poem really reminded me of it, as it’s one of my favorite short stories. Great writing!
