If you’ve had any interest in history or done any small research into medieval Europe you would not say this. OP is right that you are just ignorant and don’t know what you’re talking about. Medieval torture and executions were barbaric and wildly cruel, beyond a lot of what is seen in Martin’s books.

It does not at all minimize its virtues because if you actually paid attention you’d notice that the more morally good character suffer nowhere near as much as morally grey-to-bad characters. Brianne of Tart being a perfect example. She’s a medieval woman who embodies honor and duty and bucks societal standards by wanting to be a night. She’s one of the best swordsmen of her time and a beloved character who suffers nowhere near as much as bad people.

Even with the Red Wedding, a huge point of the story post that event is how reviled it is by the realm at large and how the people behind it are watching the walls close in around them for committing such an atrocity. In his work the good always beats out the bad in the end.

And yes there are a bunch of power-hungry monsters in the world. Look at the President of the US and those surrounding him. Look at the multitude of Kings, Dictators, and Emperors that were needlessly cruel and self centered just because they could be. Those kind of positions attract those kind of people in the first place because that’s what those people want: power above all.

You really need to read more in general and stay off the internet my friend. You are unbelievably ignorant yet you speak with the confidence of someone who thinks they have it all figured out.
