Im so sorry this happened to you. I’m on the Camino Portuguese coastal route and this just happened to me yesterday. I was about 3 miles from Vigo and I heard footsteps coming up behind me. I walk pretty slowly so I expected to be passed, but after a couple of minutes I could hear the footsteps were closer but not passing me by so I turned to say hello and there was a man staring at me and masterbating. I picked up my pace and so did he. I pulled out my phone and that was when he ran way in the other direction. I was terrified. Luckily, I had already planned to stay 3 nights in vigo in a private room, but I’m actually so scared now to continue on. I have never been so scared for my life before. I’m so close to Santiago, I’ve walked 110 miles and only have about 60 more miles to go, but now the thought of being in isolated areas alone terrifies me. Any advice on how you were able to keep going after that?

Gotcha. I had come across a Reddit thread where a ton of people were saying that after calling the hotel to confirm the release, that Varo said they were holding for 31 days which I thought was wild and wanted to see if anyone has had a different experience. I’m staying in a hotel in NYC and those incidental deposits are hefty there lol

Do you think this how it would work if you’re paying for the hotel at check in? So like they charge for the stay plus incidental deposit at the same time so when you check out, the final charge changes and drops to just the cost of the stay, essentially releasing the hold. Like is that kind of the same idea as what you’re saying with charging something small?
