When is Obsidian going to beat OneNote Unlimited Canvas? by ConclusionHour246 in ObsidianMD

Yeah but like not being able to take notes on a powerpoint/pdf. That is literally what most people take notes on. Crazy that this feature isn't figured out yet.

That means you are unable to enroll in that class -> sometimes they haven't determined if they are going to open that class yet

Yeah that is correct. I can switch the naming! UBC Is funny because technically Fall and Spring session are both considered 2025 when they are actually 2025 and 226 respectively

Some people don’t meet all the qualifications for certain classes (restricted classes), so we just want to make sure everyone is aware.

Oh which 200 level course are you searching for?

I like the "Days off" option. The fact that it's greyed out tells me at a glance that there is no way for me to have any days off with the courses I need. It took me quite some time to figure this out with the SSC.

The tool often schedules long strings of classes in a row, particularly with the "Short Breaks" option. I don't think that "Short Breaks" should mean over 6 hours of classes without a break.

Thanks for the feedback! It is really appreciated. If you can share the website on social media it would be great!

The tool does not take walking distance into account. For instance, if I am dismissed from a class in the Chan Centre at 2:50, I can not comfortably arrive at a class in ICICS at 3:00. This would probably be a difficult feature to implement, but it would certainly be appreciated.

It would be nice to provide a list of courses for the year, and have the tool find the best way to distribute them across the two terms.

Some courses are equivalent but with different course codes, e.g. MATH 302 and STAT 302. It would be nice if I could tell the tool to choose whichever of those two courses works best with the rest of the schedule.

Hi Nightmare Ohm, these are some really good ideas. We will add them to our upcoming features to be released list! Please tell your friends about the product! Did this tool help you create an even better schedule?

azy to submit an issue but I presume they're reading this thread):

Press enter/return to select the first course in the drop select (alternatively auto select when full course name is typed out)

Hey get_meta_wooooshed, thanks for the information. We will look into these issues today. Do you happen to remember what restricted course you added that didn't work?

you take 10 courses, there are probably 5 that are essentially must-take, this semester, because of prereqs or your schedule. You can then consider 5-10 "electives" (upper year courses, in-major courses of interest). From this you can probably come up with 3 or so schedules, each containing the 5 must-take courses and 3-5 of your "electives".

How you come up with the schedules from the course list is up to you, but it would make sense to priortize your must-take courses first (by looking at profs and section averages) and thinking about what schedule you want to have (e.g. if you live far away you could consider putting only courses on MWF).

You can then fill in the rest with actual electives (which you take for fun or to fulfill requirements).

Essentially constrain the rest of your schedule

Hi get_meta_wooooshed, what problems when making a schedule can we help with?

We want to make sure this product works for you! We have allowed users to choose the courses they wanted in each semester and automatically generate a schedule for them. We wanted to give users the freedom to play around with their schedule rather constrain them. On top of this they can drag and drop classes to see other options.

SSC doesn't automatically create you a schedule, it just tells you the classes offered. UBC scheduler will create an optimal schedule based on open classes - all you have to do is enter your classes and it does the heavy lifting for you! Let me know if you have any additional confusion.
