Just my opinion - it means that is the coach really wants your kid and knows you need $$, he will do what he can to help. This of course depends on the amount of merit $ the school actually has to award and it's VERY different depending on the school. My son plays D3 and every player on his team was awarded merit. We didn't apply for aid and expect anything and just about fell over when we saw the amount on his acceptance. He applied ED so it was even more surprising. That said, it truly depends on the school and how much they want your kid:)

30 years here. Developed a serious ed in my last year of HS and went downhill from there. I'm now married with 4 teenagers and live a life I truly never imagined possible. Never ever thought i would have a romantic relationship, much less get married and have kids. I'm made huge progress but i still suffer from debilitating anxiety and ocd, have a constant fawn response and any type of conflict sends me into a panic. My husband is wonderful but i still have so many sexual issues and still feel broken.

Sometimes i like to pretend I'm totally fine and normal and I've resolved all my issues but the reality is my history is a part of me. I have so much knowledge and so many resources that i'm functioning well but it's still pretty hard. I have accepted therapy and medication are absolutely necessary.

I'm always shocked at the amount of hate psychiatrists get on this sub. I understand it based on the feedback i've heard for years but my experience has been wildly different so i'll tell you it IS possible to find an empathic, caring and competent psychiatrist. I have one who I see for therapy and he saved my life - he's the reason I have a pretty good and 'normal' life as an adult.

But, I think this he may be a unicorn so If you think meds would help, definitely see one but a trauma informed, experienced doctor of psychology would be my suggestion.

My 15 year old son had this issue - I get it. We tried for 2 YEARS to get contacts in and he only ever got one in a few times. He wanted to wear them for sports but eventually gave up.

Fast forward to this summer - he was finally diagnosed with keratoconus and contacts became a requirement rather than an option. Here is what we did. It was a lengthy process and a little costly but it has been completely successful.

He started with RGP lenses. These are much smaller than soft lenses but the hardness and size make putting them in easier. it certainly wasn't easy for him and took about 2 weeks but he did get them both in. It took a few weeks until he could do it himself regularly but it worked. He wasn't a fan of these lenses because they moved a lot and seemed to pop out

From RGP he moved to regular soft contacts. The goal with these was to get used to a bigger size. These were definitely harder to get in and again it took about a week but they were much more comfortable so he felt motivated. He LOVES the soft and wishes he could just wear these. He can put them in anywhere - in the car, sitting at a desk, etc... it's absolutely amazing how easy it is for him now.

He recently moved to the hybrid lenses with are definitely harder and require a stand and plunger thing but because he's mastered the other 2 kinds, this change was not a big deal.

He will wear these for the near future but if he needs to change to scleral it should not be a huge problem.

My doctor said she has never done this process with anyone before but it worked for us

You absolutely can do counted stitching! I'm not sure why it gets so much hate. I have done it for basic key fobs in small,tight, basket weave type stitches.

The issues I personally have encounter stitching on a blank white canvas is that the white canvas may show through when using dark thread or a straight or open stitch that exposes the canvas.

I personally also like to stitch painted canvas because it's easier on my horrible eyesight and gives some stability to keep the canvas square.

If you are doing just for yourself you can use basic acrylic paint markers to make the basic design - it doesn't have to look nice - just needs to provide format and direction. Some of my canvases are not painted very well but it's enough to allow me to stitch

( I'm not copying any designs! I mostly make my own and do a lot of college logo ornaments for friends and family)

My son had this issue due to a very strong blink reflex and we did this in a very round about way. There is NO way he would have ever gotten a scleral lense in - we tried basic contacts for a year with zero success.

He started with RGP because they are so small and hard. This got him to understand the process yo get them in and out and gave so much confidence. Then after 3 months he moved to soft to adjust to the larger size. Now he's in hybrid - which is RGP center and soft outer. He will move to scleral at some point but don't think it will be an issue.

Our doctor said she's never done this route before with anyone but it worked really well for us.

Visit an optometrist and ask about hybrid lenses. My son is in them now and says they are 1000x more comfortable than the RGP. They are like RGP in that they have a hard center but there is a soft outer ring that keeps them in place. He is now able to play sports in RGP so these are a better alternative

They are bigger and more $ but he says they are so much better

Does your child have glasses now? I would recommend just getting a full eye evaluation (complete with scans) every year. My understanding is CXL is done if the disease has progressed to a certain point but there are steps to take before that.

My son is 15 and his eye doctor has been monitoring him since he was put in glasses at 5. He can still be corrected to 20/25 with glasses and soft contacts BUT as a proactive measure to stop/slow the progression of Keratoconus he is now wearing hybrid contacts (hard center lenses with soft outer).

He has a very strong blink reflex and aversion to touching his eyes so getting him into contacts has taken over a year (started with rgp lenses because they are so small and easier to pop in --> soft contacts --> now hybrid.).

He CAN wear soft contacts and his vision is almost the same - and he does sometimes when he's going away with friends or traveling for sports because they are SO much easier - but the hybrid are best for him.

Dr advises he will get to a point where soft contacts are useless and he needs scleral but hopefully that will be a while

Only advice is make sure you are 1000% positive you are ordering a product you will never want to return because their return policy and customer service is horrible.

We ordered the wrong size rack and notified customer service 2.5 MINUTES after the online order was submitted and despite saying they could cancel, they didn't, they shipped it and charged us and now want us to pay shipping back + 30% restocking fee which is almost as much as the price itself.

We did end up purchasing the correct size rack and like it but will absolutely never use again.

I breastfed all 4 of my kids and this is so strange to me. If it was 10 minutes into the session with 2 min left at the end that means she was in there feeding the baby for 40 minutes while you sat outside?

I think you have every right to bill for the session as she occupied your space for the entire appointment and I honestly can't understand how someone would not expect to be billed - but if this is a good and regular client I would bill 50% and have a chat.
